Minka Kelly Gives Details on Her 'Charlie's Angels' Character Eve's Backstory (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 22nd 2011 5:10PM
The reboot of 'Charlie's Angels' premieres tonight at 10PM ET on ABC, and Minka Kelly stopped by 'Live With Regis & Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) to talk about the show and her character Eve.

Apparently the show's producers wanted to cast Kelly so badly that they re-wrote the script to fit her talents. "It's funny because they had to write this new character. The character that they had written I didn't fit, so I was blessed and lucky enough for them to come up with Eve," Kelly said.

The show then cut to a clip from the 'Angels' premiere, which gave some details on Eve's backstory. She was raised in an orphanage in El Salvador after her parents, American aid workers, were killed in the country's civil war. She's also been a car-thief, and though she didn't mention it in the clip, a marine. "I'm not gonna bet the cards I've been dealt. If you want to survive, you have to adapt," Eve says. Adapt from orphan to angel, specifically.

Jessica Alba, Minka Kelly, Jessica Biel and Sofia Vergara were on hand to demonstrate in Jimmy Kimmel's infomercial, each humping an exercise ball (the "HoBo"). Dressed in red spandex, Jimmy K directed them: "Hump it up. Hump it down. Take a train to humpy town!" Eva Longoria revealed, "I couldn't stop humping! I hump everywhere -- at work, at the beach, in the car."

Why did no one help her out? Chelsea Handler admitted to even telling strangers when they have a "boom boom" in their teeth or nose.

'Parenthood': Love and Halloween (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 20th 2010 4:45AM
'Parenthood': Love and HalloweenDressing up on Halloween can make you feel like a different person. If you pretend to be a vampire, or a cowboy, or a sexy nurse, then you take on that role for the night. On 'Parenthood' (Tue., 10PM ET on NBC), a couple plays dress-up for the evening. But then it leads to something real.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

After their son goes to bed, Crosby (Dax Shepard) and Jasmine (Joy Bryant) sneak downstairs to chomp on their kid's Halloween candy. They're still wearing their costumes: Crosby is daring stuntman Evel Knievel; Jasmine is Indian maiden Pocahontas.

The pair seems content, like they've recovered from their past history. Jasmine had a son with Crosby, but she kept this a secret for five years. She felt that Crosby was irresponsible and not ready for fatherhood. But now, the couple are back together again.

'Parenthood' - 'What's Goin' On Down There?' Recap

Parenthood, What's Goin' On Down There?
(S01E07) "Would you boys like to come over for a play date?" - Yoga girl to Crosby

I love 'Parenthood.' Yes, there's a lot of people to keep track of, but it's all good. The show has some great players, but really, all I need is Peter Krause and Lauren Graham. And Dax Shepard and Jason Ritter. He reminds me of his dad, which makes me both happy and sad, but mostly happy.

The kids on this show are awesome, too -- Max Burkholder, Mae Whitman, Tyree Brown ... ok, since I'm filling in for Danny, I'll stop crushing on all the actors and get to the review. Follow me after the jump.

What to Watch: April 5 - 11

by Stephanie Earp, posted Apr 5th 2010 12:40PM

- Wednesday April 7, 8 pm, Global/Fox

For the 100th episode of 'Bones', David Boreanaz directs a backward-looking episode that recalls the early days of the Booth-Brennan relationship and how romance almost got in the way of the work. I too remember the early days of 'Bones' - the expensive 3-D technology they used to reconstruct a body, seeing Angel in a suit, the awkward dialogue of the overly-techy techies. I admit, I didn't think the show would make it this far. But there's no doubt Emily Deschanel and Boreanaz have great chemistry and that the show has grown and improved since those early days. Is it the new 'Moonlighting'? Not exactly, but it still deserves kudos.

Minka Kelly of 'Friday Night Lights' Joins CBS Comedy Pilot

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 9th 2010 4:02PM
Minka KellyMinka Kelly might not be on 'Friday Night Lights' anymore but she is keeping busy. She has just signed on to star in the pilot for a new CBS comedy, 'True Love.' It comes from Matt Tarses of 'Scrubs.' It's about four close friends in New York City and their relationships.

I know, I know, everyone is going to say "hey, that sounds a lot like 'Friends,' doesn't it?" But is that really fair? There are just so many plots that a TV show can have before it starts to seem like they're copying it. I remember when a lot of 'Friends' clones popped up after that show became a hit, but that was more about the timing of those new shows. It's all about the writing and the cast and the direction and all of those elements, not that it's about single people living in Manhattan.

Besides, 'Friends' ended years ago. How much longer will we compare new shows to it?

Minka Kelly Finds 'True Love'

by Scott Harris, posted Feb 9th 2010 10:15AM
It's almost Valentine's Day, and for CBS, that means that love is in the air. And not just any kind of love, mind you, but the best kind of all: 'True Love.'

Yes, according to the Hollywood Reporter, work continues apace on the pilot for CBS's new sitcom 'True Love.' The latest victim to fall under Cupid's spell? 'Friday Night Lights' actress Minka Kelly.

Kelly, of course, was one of the breakout stars of 'Friday Night Lights,' but thanks to the nature of that show, her character had to be written out due to the pesky reality of high school graduation. Since then, Kelly has also appeared in the CW pilot 'Body Politic,' which the network surprisingly decided to pass on despite strong buzz in the media.

TV celebs touch each other's boobs for cancer research

by Brad Trechak, posted Sep 30th 2009 7:01PM
Funny or DieFunny or Die has up an amusing clip starring a group of television and movie stars including Alyson Hannigan, Emily Deschanel, Kat McPhee, Minka Kelly and Jaime King in which they are at a slumber party together. One of them feels a lump on her breast and starts to panic. The issue gets resolved but not before the paparazzi show up to get some rather embarrassing photos of the group.

The sketch was co-written by King and Taryn Southern and is sponsored by Her Energy in support of breast cancer research. The entire six-part series is called "Tit for Tat." Let's hear it for amusing double-entendres.

Still, it's for a good cause and stars a plethora of television personalities (including the ever-cute Ms. Hannigan whom I've adored since her days on Buffy the Vampire Slayer), so it's worth a look even if you're just a perv who likes watching female celebrities grope each other. Video is after the jump.

Here's one show you won't see on The CW this fall

by Bob Sassone, posted May 22nd 2009 3:10PM
I'm a fan of Washington, D.C.-based TV shows, so I'm sorry this show didn't make the cut for this fall's schedule on The CW (I guess the world was screaming for a Melrose Place update instead). It's Body Politic and stars Minka Kelly, Jay Hernandez, Jason Dohring, Gabrielle Union, and Tim Matheson. Thankfully, the internet can let us see some scenes from the pilot.

Which of these new shows are you most looking forward to?

by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 23rd 2009 7:01PM
Network logosThe networks are going to unleash their new fall schedules in a few weeks. Which new shows are in the running? Well, Juliana Margulies is going to be an attorney (again), Kelsey Grammer is going to be a Wall Street CEO who gets canned (you knew you were going to see at least one show with that premise this fall), Lauren Graham is going to be a self-help guru, Chevy Chase and The Soup's Joel McHale are going to be community college students, and Thomas Jane is going to be ... well, Hung.

AOL has a list of the 30 shows that have the best shot at being on our TV screens when the fall rolls around. Not all of the shows will make it, of course. Some we'll never see at all, unless the pilot episode is leaked online. I'm still ticked that ABC didn't pick up Marlowe (with Life on Mars star Jason O'Mara) a couple of season ago. The gallery is after the jump.
