FoxNews apologizes for video mix up - VIDEO
Sheesh.
So here's what happened: FoxNews was doing a story on the indictment of Rep. William J. Jefferson, who was charged with bribery. Unfortunately, the network ran footage of House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers of Michigan, instead. Both Jefferson and Conyers are black.
I searched for footage of this mistake, preferably one without political commentary on the mistake itself, but all I could find was the video below from Talking Points Memo. Nevertheless, you're all big boys and girls and should be able to make up your own mind about what transpired.
Beat this, Ausiello! All of Canada has Grey's episode 2 spoilers!
After I posted about the season premiere of Grey's Anatomy, a few of our commenters from the Great White North mentioned that CTV showed episode two by mistake, leaving them in the cold regarding episode one. Indeed, in some parts of Canada, the network did air the wrong episode in its usual Thursday at 8 PM timeslot, due to what they called a "satellite feed error" at the source (what's the source? ABC? CTV headquarters?). Anyway, they apologized and said they'll air the season premiere at a later date. Of course, many Canadians get American networks on their cable systems, so they likely caught episode one at 9 on ABC. But that means they're a week ahead of us now. First they get universal health care, now this. Lucky buggers. There are rumors going around that episode two was supposed to be the season premiere, with what Americans saw yesterday being episode two. But Shonda Rhimes switched the order after ABC told her viewers would get too confused. Hm. Dunno. Seems pretty clear this was a continuation of last season's finale. Maybe there was some heavy rewriting and re-editing. Not sure.
Coming up on the news: Czech porn
By a show of hands, how many of your were in Sweden over the weekend watching the five-minute SVT news update at midnight? If you were, you might have seen something a bit ribald on one of the monitors behind anchorman Peter Dahlgren. Apparently some staffers were watching a sporting event on a channel that shows porn after midnight. They forgot to switch the monitor back before the newscast and viewers were treated to some hot, nasty, Czech porn sex. There were no complaints from viewers, but apparently the other media outlets found it quite interesting. All I can keep thinking is that a channel that shows sporting events during the day and pornography at night would probably do really well in the states. I'm not sure why no one has thought of that.
BBC mistakes cab driver for computer expert
This is like something out of a sitcom. The BBC is apologizing for putting a cab driver on television as a computer expert. How does this happen? Well, the cab driver appeared at the BBC front desk and someone assumed he was the computer expert who was scheduled to appear on a news program. Without asking any questions, he was whisked onto the set and interviewed on live television. He made a valiant effort at trying to answer the anchor's questions! She only asked him three questions about downloading music before suddenly tossing to a reporter in the field. I think someone told her in her ear that she had the wrong guy on set. It's especially funny when the cab driver is introduced as the editor of some tech magazine -- the look on his face is priceless. Apparently, the real tech editor watched the whole thing from the BBC reception area.
