It was the bet heard around the world on Saturday's 'Republican Debate' (Sat., 9PM ET on ABC). After Rick Perry again brought up the claim that in the first printing of Mitt Romney's book 'No Apology,' he was for individual mandates nationwide, Romney again refuted the claim. Finally, he decided to put his considerable wealth where his mouth is.

"10,000 bucks?" he said, offering a wager with a handshake.

"I'm not in the betting business," Perry countered, but the offer of it alone set up a storm of responses on Twitter and from both sides of the political spectrum.

With so many Republican presidential debates, it's getting more and more difficult to find a different angle with which to cover them. So Jon Stewart decided to explore the phenomenon knows as "Mittface" in the CBS debate on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central).

It's the fun of analyzing Mitt Romney's expressions and reactions to what his opponents are saying at any given time. While his expressions are all disturbingly similar, it's fun to look for the nuances that could give us a peek into the candidate most consistent in the polls (he's usually second behind the constantly changing merry-go-round of front-runners).

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has been on the campaign trail doing what politicians do. He's making big sweeping promises, and talking in idealistic terms. But Jon Stewart thinks he may have gone too far, and details the flaws in his statements on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central).

When Mitt Romney suggested that "we should have a job-creating machine in America," he was apparently speaking quite literally, or vaguely enough so that we would have no idea how one would develop such a thing.

"It was right in front of our faces," Stewart marveled. "Job machine! And instead of going to war, we should come up with some sort of peace machine."

The race for the Republican nomination for president is a bit of a circus right now, with potential candidates looking for the right time and situation to announce, and trying to assess their chances. Mitt Romney unveils his candidacy today in New Hampshire, and today on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), Elisabeth Hasselbeck declared her support for Romney and blamed Sarah Palin's much-hyped bus tour for distracting people from more substantial matters.

"If I had termites in my house, I'd get someone in there who could deal with it," said Hasselbeck. "Mitt Romney, right now, his specialty is the economy. I'd have him in there. Here's why we're not hearing it: because Sarah Palin's on a bus, and right now she's manipulating in terms of media attention."

In an op-ed in the New Hampshire Union Leader this week, Mitt Romney criticized Barack Obama for his "peacetime spending binge."

Given that the country is involved in two wars (not counting our military action in Libya) some have cited Romney's use of the word "peacetime" as a rare written gaffe. Stephen Colbert, however, defended Romney from the "mitt-pickers" on 'The Colbert Report' (weekdays, 11:30 PM ET on Comedy Central)

"Congress never declared war on any of these countries, so technically Romney's right," Colbert argued. "Our soldiers are just spending a semester abroad."

Or, how about this?

'The Daily Show' (weekdays, 11PM ET on Comedy Central) has been having a lot of fun over the last year with some of the more eccentric potential Republican candidates for president, such as Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann and now Donald Trump.

However, on Tuesday, Jon Stewart got some news that sent a chill down his comedic spine: Mitt Romney has launched an exploratory committee into a presidential run.

"No, not Captain Buzzkill!" Stewart shrieked. "Not the guy who looks like everyone who ever fired your dad. He's gonna suck all the fun right out of this crazy thing!"

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney stopped by 'Piers Morgan Tonight' (weekdays, 9PM ET on CNN), where he was asked by Morgan the obligatory "will you be running for president question" that all potential candidates get.

"I don't have a 100 percent answer if I'm ready to go," Romney told Morgan. "My wife thinks I should run. She's absolutely committed. She's saying 'You got to run, you got to have someone who understands the world of the economy, small businesses, who can create jobs ..."

At first, Morgan let go this fairly transparent attempt by Romney to use his wife's voice to list his presidential attributes -- while still deflecting the question. However, a bit later, when Romney deflected another question -- this one about whether he could beat Sarah Palin in a GOP primary -- Morgan pounced.

"Does your wife know the answer to that?" Morgan quipped.

So Jay Leno is coming back to 'The Tonight Show' on Monday, and he has some big guests lined up, including Olympic athletes and Sarah Palin. David Letterman will be back on Monday with new episodes too, and he's planning some big guests as well. One of those guests will be Jerry Seinfeld.

Now, this isn't completely surprising, since Seinfeld's new show 'The Marriage Ref' premieres on NBC March 4 and he's doing press for it and he's a regular guest on 'The Late Show,' but the timing is a little interesting. Seinfeld is a good friend of Leno's and was even his first guest on the doomed 10pm show. Seinfeld has even sided with Leno in various interviews. But he's going to be on Leno's rival the very first week Leno returns, which will be interesting. Joel tells me that Letterman usually takes off the first week of March but this year he isn't because of Leno's return.

In the next couple of weeks Letterman will also have Tom Brokaw and Mitt Romney.

The Leno-Letterman rivalry is back in full-force.

Following Monday's announcement that Jay Leno would return to 'The Tonight Show' next week with such divisive guests as Sarah Palin and the cast of MTV's 'Jersey Shore,' the 'Late Show with David Letterman' yesterday revealed a similarly heady guest lineup.

CBS' 'Late Show' will counter former vice presidential candidate-turned-Fox News correspondent Sarah Palin with another ghost of presidential election past (and 2012 hopeful): former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney.

"Indecision 2008": Mitt Romney surprised his supporters when he announced that he was withdrawing from the race. Romney then proceeded to surprise the rest of the country when he explained his reasons. Apparently, he doesn't want to detract from the Republican force, because a Democratic victory would essentially mean that the terrorists win. Real smooth, Romney. Real smooth. Jon's two-worded outburst perfectly summed up what I thought. Romney shouldn't be allowed to talk like that just because his hair is slightly more fabulous than his competition.

"Indecision 2008": The first news to note was Barack Obama's landslide victory in South Carolina. Of course, the win did not go unnoticed by the haters, specifically Bill Clinton. I was surprised that strange little pocket Clinton thing actually worked, too! Yay for successful gags. As for the Obama lovers, Ted Kennedy has publicly joined the fan club. I would like to direct Jon to check out this Clone High clip to improve his every-Kennedy accent.

In other news, Mitt Romney makes my brain hurt. Why? Well, many reasons, but most recently, he, umm--Okay, I'll leave you with: "Who let the dogs out?". Black potential voters. MLK Day. Don't believe me? Take a look.

"Indecision 2008:" Mitt Romney passed John McCain and Mike Huckabee for the win in Michigan, that one place that looks like a mitten. Also, "Mitt Romney" in German is "With Romney." Fun Fact courtesy of Mr. Stewart.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards and not Dennis Kucinich sat around a table and had a fun discussion. Same hand-holding may have been involved. The media has also been having fun, throwing around the phrase "the gloves are off" in reference to Clinton and Obama's fight for the top. Also, here's some other super-fun news: Wow, race is still a relevant issue? People are spreading false rumors on the Internet? How strange.

"President Bush: In His Own Words": FOX News' Neil Cavuto had a chat with his good buddy President Bush. Of course, much ass-kissing ensued. However, even with all the creepy love from Cavuto (or perhaps because of it), Bush managed to stumble over his words. Naturally, more coverage of Bush's clumsy talk followed, including clips of his failure to get over the joys of "prioritizing", "priorities", and "prioritization". It's been a while since Jon has done a really ridiculous, pointless prop gag. I didn't really care for the split-second gloo jar bit. Jon, baby, when will you understand that your show is better than that?
