Final episodes of Drive to go online Monday

by Anna Johns, posted Jul 12th 2007 4:20PM
driveFox has announced that the final two episodes of Drive will be on the show's MySpace page starting on Monday, July 16th. The network had originally scheduled those episodes for air on July 4th, then bumped them to July 13th, then flat-out took them off the schedule, much to the frustration of the few surviving fans of Drive.

After you watch the last two episodes, which will likely not provide any sort of closure, check out this post from Isabelle detailing what the producers wanted to happen to the story if the series had lived on. Unfortunately, the producers don't say who would've won... maybe even they didn't know yet.

Zach Braff says he's not a jerk

by Joel Keller, posted Jun 26th 2007 11:42AM
Zach BraffGotta hand it to Zach Braff; he's probably one of the most wired celebrities out there. He was one of the first celebs (besides our very own Wil Wheaton, of course) to maintain a blog, and he seems to be well aware of whatever internet buzz is flying around about him or Scrubs.

So it's no surprise to see him respond to the reports from Gawker, Radar Online, and other sites about how he's been tomcatting around New York this summer, seemingly talking up a different woman every night. On the latest entry in his blog (which is also on his MySpace page), he wonders why the tabloid coverage of him is saying that he's being a jerk:

Jenna Fischer's blogging with a broken back

by Anna Johns, posted Jun 19th 2007 1:37PM
jenna fischer; creed; angela kinseySweet Jenna Fischer, who plays Pam on The Office, is blogging once again. She took a bit of a hiatus after breaking her back last month while walking down a marble staircase. She tells the whole story here on her MySpace page (which she shares with her alter-ego, Pam Beesly).

Of course, Jenna is extremely grateful to all the fans for their 'Get Well' wishes and also for those who donated to her favorite cause, animal rescue. She has links to kitty and doggie rescues on her site.

Here's the best episode of How I Met Your Mother - VIDEO

by Anna Johns, posted Jun 1st 2007 1:05PM
how i met your mother; slap bet; himymIf you don't watch How I Met Your Mother but are curious about why we all love it so damn much, I suggest you watch the "Slap Bet" episode. It was the one that got me hooked. And, as Joel said, it was "one of the funniest half-hours of comedy on TV in 2006". The entire episode is on the HIMYM official MySpace page and it's also embedded after the jump inside this post.

Why is it so funny? Hmmm. Let me count the ways. Uh... only because there's face-slapping. And Robin Sparkles. Those two elements alone make it legen...wait for it...dary!

Tim and Eric love Shrek - VIDEO

by Adam Finley, posted May 19th 2007 2:03PM

tim eric shrekEvery so often, MySpace will offer users the chance to gussy up their pages with special promotional images and backgrounds. Some, like myself, prefer doing it the old fashioned way and carrying large signs around the neighborhood telling everyone to see the new Transformers movie.

Comedians Tim and Eric (Tom Goes to the Mayor; Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!), however, don't care about Transformers, they care about Shrek the Third. That's right, not only have they changed the look of their MySpace page to honor the lovable ogre, they've also created a few videos to let people know the movie is coming out.

CBS to syndicate more content on the Web

by Adam Finley, posted May 15th 2007 6:21PM

cbsReports are coming out that CBS has plans to syndicate much of its content through such Web portals as AOL (which owns TV Squad), Facebook, Last.fm and Joost.

Currently, CBS does offer some full episodes on its innertube site, and it also has a YouTube channel featuring short clips from various series. This new venture would allow folks on social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace to embed the episodes on their profiles, and to even "personalize" the videos (though don't ask me what that means, exactly).

The new content will begin to appear on the aforementioned sites sometime this week. Personally, I'm happy to see more networks offering full episodes, and offering them through more than one venue. The YouTube clips are nice, but I think what viewers are clamoring for is a chance to see their favorite shows anytime they want. It would seem the networks are starting to figure this out.

CNET joins NBC and News Corp's new online video venture

by Adam Finley, posted May 9th 2007 2:01PM

cnetYou've all heard about the upcoming video-sharing site from NBC and News Corp. Well, now CNET has joined the venture and will be providing content for the new site. CNET, which also owns GameSpot.com and TV.com, will provide "thousands of clips" to the new service and also serve as a distributor. NBC and News Corp already have distribution deals with Yahoo, MySpace, MSN, Comcast and AOL (which owns TV Squad).

The site launches this summer with full TV episodes and more from close to twenty television networks and two movie studios.

I'm always in favor of more ways to view television programs, so I'm anxious to see how this new site turns out. I just hope they allow user comments like YouTube does, because if I can't read a comment from CyberMonkey56 in Sheboygan telling me "thjs showes is sucks!" it's just not worth my time.

Heroes update: Zach denies producer's statements

by Bob Sassone, posted May 2nd 2007 3:40PM

Thomas DekkerThe Heroes controversy continues.

It has been reported that Thomas Dekker (who played Zach) and his management didn't want him to play a gay character, and that's why the character and the actor suddenly disappeared from the show. But now Dekker has said on his web site (horribly designed, and I can't find the posting) that it's absolutely untrue.

In fact, Dekker says that he has played a gay character three other times in his career, as a younger teen, and would have done it again. He says his leaving the show had nothing to do with the story arc for Zach, though he doesn't really get into why he did leave the show.

Producer Bryan Fuller said in an interview last month that Dekker left because the character was gay and they were going to explore that plot further in later episodes.

Sony to air "mini episodes" of classic TV shows

by Brad Linder, posted May 1st 2007 11:10AM
Charlies AngelsFeel like reliving your childhood, but just can't find the time? Sony Pictures wants to help. The company is partnering with MySpace to create a Minisode Network that will show brief versions of classic television episodes.

Each minisode will run from 3.5 to five minutes in length. These won't be sets of random clips. Each minisode will tell a complete story. Which is to say, most 22 or 42 minute television episodes you watch probably have a whole lot of fat that could be trimmed without getting in the way of storytelling.

Programs will include Charlie's Angels, T.J. Hooker, and other content from Sony's television library. Interestingly, the project was already in the works when Sony executives saw the popular Seven-Minute Sopranos clip on YouTube.

Watch a full episode of Super Adventure Team

dana gouldIf you've heard of Super Adventure Team, a short-lived MTV series featuring puppets a la Thunderbirds and Team America, you're a batter person than I, because I hadn't heard of it until recently, even though one of my favorite comedians of all time was behind it: Dana Gould, who would later go on to write for The Simpsons (he left the series last year).

Rickey Minor: In the Limelight

by Liz Finn-Arnold, posted Apr 26th 2007 3:43PM
Rickey MinorAmerican Idol is a show that takes virtual unknowns and creates stars. Even a couple of judges (Randy and Simon), and a host named Ryan Seacrest became household names thanks to Idol's success.

But there's one guy of vital importance to the show who isn't so well known. Most of the time he stays in the background. But there wouldn't be any Idol music without him. He's Idol's inhouse musical director -- Rickey Minor.

Matt Besser needs women

by Adam Finley, posted Apr 25th 2007 5:21PM

matt besserActor and comedian Matt Besser of Upright Citizens Brigade is producing a new broadband series for TBS.com, and he's looking for some pictures of sexy ladies to use in one of the episodes. Somebody writing on behalf of Besser, or perhaps Besser himself writing in the third person, has the details on his MySpace page. He's looking for "MySpace self portraits," those photos shot in just the right light and at just the right angle to make one appear far sexier than they do in real life. The pictures used will be part of a montage at the end of the episode.

Until Besser's new online series is launched, you should check out some of his prank work over on Prank.com, a site created by artist Joey Skaggs. The site was launched April 1, naturally.
