From faux-hawks, to dye jobs to perms gone wild, 'American Idol' has suffered its share of truly bad hair days -- and no, we're not just talking about Sanjaya.

Despite help from professional stylists, even 'Idol' winners like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood went for looks that gave new meaning to the phrase "hair don't."

Welcome back to "AI Aftermath," where we explore Idol's past. Each week, as one more American Idol hopeful is eliminated from the competition, we take a look back at contestants past who were eliminated in the same week. We'll examine how they did on the show and what they've been up to since their eliminations. In honor of Michael Johns' elimination last week we'll be looking at other eighth place finishers.

Are American Idol losers the real winners?

Kellie Pickler and ConstantineHoward Cohen of MiamiHerald.com seems to think so. In today's post he points out that several AI finalists didn't take top prize, but the show still helped catapult them to success. Jennifer Hudson's Golden Globe win last night certainly puts her on the top of the list for "Most Successful Ex-American Idol Losers," well, at least for the time being.
