Nancy Grace Talks 'Dancing With the Stars' Nerves and Weight Loss

by Catherine Lawson, posted Sep 26th 2011 6:15AM
Nancy GraceBy now so many celebrities have praised the health benefits of competing on 'Dancing With the Stars' that it can surely be only a matter of time before it's launched as an official weight loss and fitness program.

Season 13 contestant Chaz Bono's already reportedly shed a few pounds since rehearsals started, and now Nancy Grace says she's also slimming down.

She told 'People' that "I've inadvertently lost 10 lbs. on the I'm-too-tired-to-eat diet. ... By the time I get the children ready for school, then practice and then come home, I'm like exhausted."

Grace also said her pre-dance nerves "are much, much worse. I'm a fish out of water on the dance floor. It's a lot more nerve-wracking than trying a murder case."

'DWTS' Backstage Report: Who's Going Home First? Also, Julianne Hough is Returning!

by Michael Maloney, posted Sep 20th 2011 7:00AM
'DWTS' 13 CastIt's difficult to predict just who's going to be eliminated on tonight's results show of 'Dancing With the Stars.'

The scores ranged from 14 for pro basketball player Ron Artest (a.k.a. Metta World Peace) to 22 each for singer Chynna Phillips and 'All My Children' actor J.R. Martinez.

Since Artest's pro partner, Peta Murgatroyd, is also new to the show it's not like she's bringing in a lot of votes. Still, pro athletes have always done well on 'DWTS.'

How did the stars and pro dancers think they did? AOL TV was on the post-show press line to get reactions.

by Chris Harnick, posted Sep 1st 2011 12:30PM
Nancy GraceNancy Grace was just as shocked as we were that she was offered a spot competing for the mirrorball trophy on 'Dancing With the Stars.'

The legal analyst and CNN anchor told 'Good Morning America' she was en route to a hearing for the Casey Anthony trial when she got the called.

"I was en route to the courtroom in the car," Grace said, "and at first, I thought I was getting punk'd. That someone had somehow gotten the Time Warner CNN cell number and was kidding me about doing 'Dancing With the Stars.'"

Needless to say, she wasn't getting pranked and Grace signed on for Season 13.

Already hard at work prepping for the Mon., Sept. 19 premiere, Grace said she's had to bandage up her feet.

Nancy Grace Explains How Michael Jackson Helped Her Say 'Yes' to 'Dancing With the Stars'

by Michael Maloney, posted Aug 30th 2011 7:00AM
'Dancing With the Stars' Season 13 cast

It remains to be seen who'll emerge as the front-runner on the 13th season of 'Dancing With the Stars,' which debuts Monday, Sept. 19 at 8PM ET on ABC. But, by early indications, contestant Nancy Grace is the one to beat on the press line.

The outspoken Grace didn't mince words as to why she came to L.A. to do the show. She's here anyway to cover the Michael Jackson murder case.

"I understand the defense attorney wants the jury sequestered from Nancy Grace," says the former prosecutor. "I can only say that his client is charged with standing by, talking on the phone to his girlfriend while the King of Pop, a music icon, lay on that bed and died ... I don't think it was altogether a bad thing that they asked the jury to be sequestered from me."

Grace is hoping that this trial sends a message that even rich celebrities accused of crimes deserve justice.

"Many people are still angry at Michael Jackson over the molestation charges. What many of them don't see is that Lady Justice is blind to the defendant and the victim. It doesn't matter what Jackson did or didn't do. It's a slippery slope to start judging victims."

Polygraph Expert Explains Why You Shouldn't Lie on TV (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Jul 20th 2011 4:45PM
Chances are, if you've seen a TV lie detector test quickly escalate into an all-out melee, John Grogan provided the science that caused the spark. Grogan is a polygraph examiner who's become a regular on the TV circuit, lending his lie-detecting expertise to 'Survivor,' 'Nancy Grace,' 'Divorce Court,' 'Tool Academy,' 'Flavor of Love,' and a bevy of other shows.

In this video from the AOL You've Got series, he talks about just how accurate the lie detector test results you see on TV are, and what he's come to expect right after he delivers his results.

"Usually when we do relationship testing we'll ask the accuser to leave the room," he says. "You'll have somebody see their spouse either confess to something or fail badly on a question, and they'll come and slap or punch that person."

Clearly this is a man with much wisdom to dispense. Check out the video after the jump.

Nancy Grace's Coverage of the Casey Anthony Trial Posts Record Ratings for HLN

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jul 6th 2011 6:30AM
Nancy GraceNancy Grace's outraged disbelief at the verdicts in the Casey Anthony trial led many to question if her head would, actually, explode on-air. It did not. However, her stunned reaction -- "somewhere out there, the devil is dancing tonight" -- did set the Twitterverse afire.

Grace has been covering the story on her eponymous primetime show since two-year old Caylee Anthony was reported missing in mid-2008.

Her intense, often controversial, scrutiny of the case produced record ratings for CNN's Headline News and may also have influenced the other TV networks' coverage as they acted in the wake of her escalating ratings.

'The Wrap' reports that Grace's single-minded pursuit of the "truth" about Caylee Anthony's death put HLN in second place during June, the 29-year-old channel's best ratings month ever. And it also helped the network challenge Fox News in the coveted adults aged 25-54 demographic during primetime.

Nancy Grace demands to see the window Chris Brown kicked in on 'Good Morning America'In what she apparently viewed as a gesture on behalf of women, Nancy Grace demanded to see the window that singer Chris Brown allegedly broke on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM on ABC). 'GMA' host Robin Roberts had pressed Brown last week on an incident with his former girlfriend, Rihanna, in which Brown was accused of assaulting her. Brown threw a tantrum on set and was said to have shattered a window.

Roberts was speaking with Grace today about other cases when Grace made a sudden demand. "Before I leave," she said, "on behalf of women everywhere, I demand to see the window that Chris Brown kicked out." She promised she would not rip her shirt off and run out into the street, like Brown did. "What, did he think you were going to fight with him and tear him down by his T-shirt?" she said, and before waiting for Roberts to reply, added, "No comment? OK."

Nancy Grace Displays Stellar Lie-Detecting Skills to Dax Shepard (VIDEO)

Dax Shepard, Nancy Grace Talk Lies on 'Kimmel'On 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC), the host put Nancy Grace to the test. If she was so skilled at deciphering truth from lie, she'd show the audience how it's done on fellow guest Dax Shepard from 'Parenthood,' who was seated beside her.

He told her two things about himself, but only one was true. "I am an off-road race car driver. I went to UCLA on a basketball scholarship." Grace guessed the latter was false. "Is that because I didn't say the word 'scholarship' correctly?" joked Shepard.

Then on to the next test: Shepard asked the legal pundit if there was any action he could take against a Thai restaurant that gave him food poisoning. "I'm not sure that I can isolate it was actually the Thai food that poisoned you," she said.

"I keep a very good food journal for my diet," Shepard told her. Grace replied, "He's lying about the food journal!" And indeed he was.
