Cameron Insults NASCAR and New Client Jimmie Johnson on 'Breaking In' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 21st 2011 2:23AM
Desperate to impress his boss and prove himself worthy of field work on 'Breaking In' (Wed., 9:30PM ET on FOX), Cameron immediately proceeded to make a fool of himself with the very next client. When he went into the conference room to meet the guy, he first failed to recognize NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson. When Johnson said he was a driver, Cameron assumed he meant a limo driver, dismissed him completely and then insulted NASCAR.
"How much do you know about NASCAR?" Johnson asked him.
"You mean the one where the guys with the mullets drive around in a circle and call it a sport?" Cameron said. "Not a fan, why do you ask?"
'Undercover' NASCAR Boss Joins Daytona 500 Pit Crew, Sees Major Pileup (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Oct 25th 2010 4:45AM
Steve Phelps, chief marketing officer for NASCAR, poses as "Kevin," a Nascar fan and competition winner, to get a behind-the-scenes look at the Daytona 500 on 'Undercover Boss' (Sun., 9PM ET on CBS).Working with a pit crew on the Daytona Speedway, Kevin becomes a "tire scraper." While watching them work, he says, "What these guys do -- the pressure's immense ... It's a very sensory experience at the race track -- the sound's incredible, you can smell the tires and the oil and the gas."
When one car sideswipes another, chaos on the track ensues, leading to a massive pileup. Several cars catch fire, including the one his crew supports. Kevin witnesses it all firsthand, including the driver's rescue.

Start Your Engines: Speed Greenlights 'Fast Track to Fame'
by Jane Murphy, posted Feb 22nd 2010 12:30PM
When we first heard about 'Fast Track to Fame,' the Speed Channel's new search for undiscovered talent, we thought Sunday drivers might get a chance to compete at the Brickyard. But Fast Track isn't for NASCAR wannabes. According to Broadcasting & Cable, this Asphalt 'Idol' will apparently search for the best singers, dancers, comedians and other undiscovered talents living in various NASCAR towns.
'Fast Track' -- which will debut Mar. 1at 9PM ET -- is the brainchild of Michael Waltrip, one half of the superstar racing Waltrip brothers (his older sibling, Darrell, voiced Darrell Cartrip in Pixar's Oscar-nominated movie 'Cars').

ESPN's Bob Griese suspended for faux pas
by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 28th 2009 12:38PM
During the broadcast of the Minnesota vs. Ohio State college football game last weekend, ESPN analyst Bob Griese put his foot in his mouth. While promoting an upcoming NASCAR event, a graphic was shown listing the drivers. When Griese's fellow broadcast Chris Spielman questioned why NASCAR driver Juan Pablo Montoya wasn't on the list, Griese replied that he was "out having a taco."
Oops! ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz has announced that Bob Griese has been suspended for a week. Griese has apologized for the ill-attempt at humor. Krulewitz revealed that ESPN had spoken to Griese and "he understands the comment was inappropriate."

The History Channel dilutes its brand with even more reality shows
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 2nd 2009 9:30AM
I can't even blame the cable networks for this anymore. The History Channel is expanding its repertoire of reality programs as a direct response to the record ratings they've seen with the ones they have now. What do we expect them to do when we don't show up to watch until they throw Ice Road Truckers and Pawn Stars at us? Apparently, we don't want history on the History Channel. They've heard us, which is why The History Channel is bringing us more reality, starting with a spi-off of the aforementioned Truckers. Extreme Trucking will travel the world looking for the most treacherous roadways anywhere, and the brave men and women who drive them.
We can also look forward to traveling the US with Pickers, as people hunt for rare artifacts. And we'll get down and dirty with a 61-year old feud at a North Carolina NASCAR track with Madhouse. Even more unusual is Sliced, a series where objects are cut in half so we can see what they look like. Hey, if they cut a tree in half we can look at the history of it!

Have you seen The Observer?
by Bob Sassone, posted Apr 16th 2009 5:09PM
I'm not talking about a newspaper, I'm talking about the mysterious bald guy on FOX's Fringe.Alert viewers have probably noticed the character on the show. You can often see him lurking in the background, as part of a crowd, or just walking by (as well as other, more obvious scenes). Now the character has made his way off of the show and is lurking about on other FOX shows, including American Idol, NASCAR coverage, even during NFL games.
