Scotty McCreery, 2011 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade This year, we're betting that 'American Idol' stars Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina are mostly thankful that turkey day is firmly behind them. The Season 10 winner and runner-up both had pretty bad experiences yesterday.

An estimated 50 million viewers were watching as country crooner McCreery was revealed to be lip-syncing at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York.

Meanwhile, Alaina can now join the pantheon of singers -- yes, we mean you Christina Aguilera, Cyndia Lauper and ... um ... Scotty McCreery -- who've flubbed the national anthem on live TV.

Singin' in the rain: Glee cast shines at the World Series

amber_riley_GleeWhen you're hot, you're hot. Fox's Glee is hot. It's sizzling. The music is all over the charts. Their single, "Don't Stop Believin'" went gold. It seems like everything it going right for this Ryan Murphy show.

For the third game of the World Series on the night of Halloween, fate tried to rain on the Glee parade. Literally. It rained.

In Philadelphia where the game was being played, there was a rain delay of over an hour. If you were a Glee fan -- a Gleek -- tuning in just to see the troupe before the game, you had to be disappointed.

Forget the Thanksgiving Day Parade; Glee gets a World Series game

Glee_castTake that, NBC! When the word leaked yesterday that the performers from Glee had been uninvited to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade because the folks at NBC didn't want to give the Fox show a national platform to strut their stuff, plenty of people thought it was a low blow. Well, something else has come along that's just as big a national stage.

On October 31, the Glee cast will sing the National Anthem at the World Series. That's game three, and it'll be a chance for the singers to put their own unique spin on "The Star Spangled Banner."

Why is American Idol sending bad singers to Hollywood?

by Anna Johns, posted Feb 2nd 2006 8:47AM
ashley jackson american idolHas anybody else noticed this? Paula, Randy and Simon keep sending bad singers on to Hollywood. Is the talent pool really that shallow this season?

Last night they passed Ashley Jackson on to Hollywood. You may recall that Ashley was the "fit model". She sang Something to Talk About and it really wasn't enjoyable at all. When Paula asked Ashley to sing with her mouth closed (it was a skill she listed on her bio), she told the girl, "things aren't going your way right now." After she sang the Star Spangled Banner, with full enunciation even though her mouth was closed, all three judges passed her to Hollywood. Now, we know that a lot is edited out of the auditions, but I want to know what happened between that first, awful song and her rendition of the national anthem to make the judges pass her to the next round.

I've noticed they've passed other bad singers along in previous episodes this season. I'm wondering if American Idol producers think that we like the bad singers so much that they want to have some around in Hollywood to humiliate? 'Cuz I'm, like, tired of the bad auditions.
