Kiefer SutherlandA couple of weeks ago we told you that the idea was being floated at NBC that they should pick up '24' next season. No, FOX hasn't officially said that this will be the show's last season, but industry sources say that they're thinking about ending the show because it has been on for several seasons and it's too expensive to produce (though a big-screen flick might be a factor too). NBC's Angela Bromstad even confirmed that execs at the Peacock Network are actually considering it, though they too think it might be too pricey.

Now Michael Ausiello says that this isn't just some TV programming fantasy, it's actually something that NBC is seriously considering. In fact, 20th Century Fox has approached NBC about it.

It could be an interesting move. Sure, the show doesn't have quite the buzz that it did a few seasons ago, but it does have a certain quality level and fan base that NBC would love to have. Imagine '24' taking up one of the 9 or 10pm slots now inhabited by a reality show or an episode of 'Dateline.'
