Andy Rooney Gives His Final 'Few Minutes' to '60 Minutes' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 3rd 2011 1:45AM
Andy Rooney, '60 Minutes''60 Minutes' (Sun., 7PM ET on CBS) is going to probably start sounding a lot less grouchy in the coming weeks. For more than 30 years, Andy Rooney has brought his signature crabbiness to the tail-end of many '60 Minutes' broadcast, but he's filed his final complaint.

At 92-years old, the journalist and writer promises he's not retiring, but he will be leaving the airwaves and signing off for the last time. But while he was heartfelt, gracious and appreciative of all the success he's found in his life and career, it wouldn't be Andy Rooney if he didn't offer a few complaints.

He hates it when people shout 'Hey Andy!' in the streets, and after saying thank you to all his fans, he left them with one piece of advice. "If you do see me in a restaurant, please, just let me eat my dinner."

Is Dateline going away?

by Adam Finley, posted Mar 6th 2006 10:04AM

datelineIndustry people are becoming more and more concerned that the "newsmagazine" format is slowly starting to fade away. Some are saying that shows like Dateline and Primetime have abandoned real news for infotainment, often using the programs to cover series and celebrities from the network's entertainment division. That's not unheard of, but it makes those shows less and less relevant as such "fluff" pieces are already covered by shows like Entertainment Tonight and the like. Dateline may be especially vulnerable. however, and some are speculating this could be its last season. The show has been suffering in the ratings, and its Friday addition was recently taken off the schedule to make room for Conviction, a new drama from Dick Wolf.
