EXCLUSIVE: Interview With 'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 13 Winner Nicole Fox (VIDEO)
by Andrew Scott, posted Nov 19th 2009 6:00PM
She may only be 5'7".But there are plenty of big things ahead for 18-year-old Nicole Fox, who was just named the winner of 'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 13.
The adorable Fox was kind enough to stop by our New York office this morning to talk more about last night's finale, beating runner-up Laura and what's next on her horizon (ok, I got her to smize, too).

And the winner of 'America's Next Top Model' is ... Nicole Fox! The 18-year-old Fox beat out Laura Kirkpatrick and won a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl, will appear on the cover of 'Seventeen' magazine along with a six-page spread, and will be represented by Wilhelmina Models.

'America's Next Top Model' Cycle 13 Winner Is Nicole Fox

So, it all came down to just two shorties on last night's 'American's Next Top Model' Cycle 13 finale: red-headed geek-turned-rock star Nicole and perky dyslexic Laura. But in the end, only one model could stand, if not head and shoulders above the rest (they are shorties, remember), at least a little taller -- and that was Nicole.Despite a little misdirection about Nicole's snobby performance in the Cover Girl commercial being a deal breaker for the judges (psych!), and a slightly better performance on the wind-and-rain-swept runway by Laura (Nicole's weird, head-forward walk was ultimately dubbed her "signature" and not a flaw by the judges), the dorky redhead emerged victorious in the final episode thanks to a winning shoot for Seventeen. It was a long journey for Nicole, who had to overcome shyness, dorkiness and a very unmodel-like lack of cattiness to make it through the competition.
Review: America's Next Top Model - America's Next Top Model Is... (Season Finale)

(S13E11) I love how Tyra Banks creates revisionist history on America's Next Top Model. Not only does she denounce Adrianne Curry's name, she now is ignoring the fact that Eva, who was 5' 6.5" won Cycle Three against "normal" sized models. That's an accomplishment.
This cycle's finale episode was less hectic than previous cycles because there were only two contestants, so the commercial, photoshoots, and model walks felt better paced. I like the concept, we should have final twos for the remaining seasons.
For the first time in a long time, I didn't mind if either Nicole or Laura won. Both took stunning photos.

(S13E08) I don't know how America's Next Top Model's photoshoots continue to grow more and more insane. This week, Tyra decided to turn the model hopefuls bi-racial. Surprisingly, the photos didn't turn out bad, just not model-like.
You know it's never good when a boring character gets a character. The mathematician Brittany caught the bitch bug and complained about how immature Erin was for the rest of the episode. Guess what happened at the end of the episode? I would rather have gotten the "fading away" edit that Tyra loves so much.
