Wendy Williams Breaks Down Rumored 'Fashion Star' Feud Between Nicole Richie & Jessica Simpson (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 12th 2011 6:30PM
The reality competition show 'Fashion Star' isn't even close to premiering on NBC yet, but Wendy Williams has already started gossiping about it. Back for a new season of 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), Williams talked about potential problems between 'Fashion Star' mentors Nicole Richie and Jessica Simpson."You're not going to see this show until, it's like a mid-season replacement, somewhere around later in the winter," said Williams. "But Nicole's reps are denying that they're having any fights at all. Sources told US Magazine that there is friction, however, on the set. They say that Nicole thinks that Jessica doesn't know high fashion."
Nicole Richie Previews Her New Show 'Fashion Star' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Sep 7th 2011 3:40PM
Nicole Richie has been a reality star, TV personality and author, but mentor? That may take some getting used to. Richie will be a fashion mentor on NBC's new show 'Fashion Star,' which has a twist to differentiate it from other fashion design reality competitions. Richie previewed the show Wednesday on 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC).On 'Fashion Star,' fourteen designers will compete to design collections for three retailers -- Macy's, H&M, and Saks. But unlike many shows where designers create high-end fashion garments more suited to a Siberian runway, the clothes have to be wearable and desirable to the general public. "Let's say H&M buys a designers collection for that week -- you can go to H&M and buy it the next day," Richie said.

by Harley W. Lond, posted Mar 9th 2010 7:04PM
Nicole Richie revealed a "dark secret" from her past on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated): When she was 8 years old she was in a rap group called Caution. DeGeneres wanted to hear her rap but Richie was sheepish about her singing. "We gotta hear the rap," DeGeneres said. "We're not judging you." Richie gamely gave in. "Are you ready," she said. Nicole Richie and Joel Madden Are Engaged! (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 21st 2010 11:40PM
Motherhood certainly agrees with Nicole Richie. She looks really healthy these days, and we love her dark hair. She also seems like a great mom.On 'Late Show With David Letterman' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS), she dished on going out with girlfriends after the kids go to bed. It's ok because baby daddy Joel Madden stays home to keep an eye on things.
And they're engaged! Good for them.

Review: Project Runway - Back to New York
by Michael Pascua, posted Jan 15th 2010 3:04AM

(S07E01) As if last season of Project Runway was a bad hiccup, we're returning to New York with Michael Korrs and Nina Garcia permanently on the judging panel.
The show opened up on the roofs of the Atlas Apartments. The energy of the show felt back to normal in New York City. The first challenge was borrowed from season four: pick from a whole ton of fabrics to display the designer's point of view. The twist was that the contestants had to edit down to five fabrics. In the end, most of the designers edited down to two fabrics. They were given one day, which felt steep for day one.
Best TV of the '00s: Reality Participant / Contestant
by Annie Wu, posted Dec 29th 2009 7:02PM
More of our best of the decade coverage, which started earlier today. You can read the other posts at the link above. Here, we talk about our favorite reality contestants and participants.Whether we like it or not, the '00s introduced us to a new form of celebrity: the reality star. In previous decades, the closest we got to this were especially entrancing personalities from MTV's Real World. These people gained fame for acting like well-crafted exaggerations of their real selves.
Faster than you can say, "I didn't come here to make friends," networks picked up on the public's fascination with reality TV like Survivor and they pushed it to the popularity that it has reached today. Now, reality shows barely reflect what happens in normal people's lives but are generally more like high-concept game shows or extremely scripted improvs. But people keep watching, because the personalities are big and captivating.
Yup. Strategic footage editing does wonders. Here are some of our personal favorites from the genre, but feel free to comment with your own worthy additions!
Why is ABC giving Nicole Richie a situation comedy?
by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 1st 2009 3:01PM
If you don't count Hank -- and I'm trying to erase the two episodes I saw from my memory banks -- ABC has had a pretty good year launching new comedies. In fact, if you go back to the spring, you can add Better Off Ted to Cougar Town, The Middle and Modern Family. Why then would ABC be giving Nicole Richie a new sitcom? I just don't see where she's worthy of a show, let alone that she has the star appeal or talent to carry a situation comedy.
Perhaps ABC has some take on The Simple Life star that I'm missing. She's cute, yes. She's not a complete airhead judging by what I've seen of her on talk shows. But, really, aren't there better actresses -- stars -- who are more viable for a new comedy series? Stars will more talent than celebrity to their credit.
Nicole Richie to Star in ABC Comedy
by Michael D. Ayers, posted Dec 1st 2009 11:35AM
Nicole Richie is prepping for a major TV comeback.Variety is reporting that the former 'Simple Life' co-star is set to produce and star in a single-camera comedy for ABC, an idea that Richie pitched herself. The untitled show will follow her as a professional woman who is trying to figure out how to juggle her family and career duties. 'Californication' writer Daisy Gardner is set to write the pilot, with 'According to Jim' alum Warren Bell serving as executive producer.
Probably known more for being a tabloid fixture, Richie's new, more settled-down life might mirror her new TV project. She's recently given birth to two children, ducking the dumb-blonde shtick that 'The Simple Life' once projected her as.
Chuck: Chuck versus the Cougars
by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 21st 2008 7:50PM
(S02E04) A high school reunion episode? Didn't I see this before? Well, yes, the idea of a plot centered around a high school reunion has been a popular staple on episodic TV, but the way Chuck used the concept was really something special. It gave us new insights into Sarah's character and deepened her connection to Chuck. There was still plenty of action, but oh how I love that back story.
Guest star Nicole Richie -- looking pretty, but in need of a milkshake or two to put some meat on her bones -- is not much of an actress. Still, she can play a jealous skank with aplomb, and that was her role here.
As Heather Chandler, Sarah's former classmate at San Diego's James Buchanan High, Chuck discovered things about Sarah heretofore unknown. Good for us viewers, too. If you haven't watched the show yet, beware plot revelations after the jump.
Nicole Richie tells the truth about diamonds
by Kona Gallagher, posted Jul 11th 2008 11:37AM
It looks like guest-starring on Chuck isn't the biggest thing going on in Nicole Richie's TV career. The former Simple Life star has just announced that a TV show based on her 2005 novel is in the works. Richie's roman à clef, titled The Truth About Diamonds, follows Chloe Parker, the adopted daughter of a rock star who runs around with a bad crowd in Hollywood. Throughout the novel, Parker faces struggles with the law, drugs and her friends. Sound familiar? Not only is Richie planning on producing the show, but she'll be appearing in it as well. Even though she based Chloe Parker on herself, Richie says that she won't necessarily be playing the lead, "I would definitely produce and definitely be in the show, [but] I don't know if I need to be the star of this show." Since production is still in the early stages, the details surrounding the series remain unclear, such as what network it will be on, and whether or not it will be a drama or a comedy.
Michael Strahan follows in Nicole Richie's footsteps on Chuck
by Joel Keller, posted Jun 26th 2008 12:02PM
Anyone who's followed the NFL over the last fifteen years knew what Michael Strahan's plans were going to be after retirement: TV, TV and more TV. It was a given; during most of his career with the Giants, Strahan loved to be in front of the camera, and often did commentary and studio gigs on his off-weeks or during the playoffs. Now, with a Super Bowl ring in-hand, the newly-retired defensive end is making his move. Not only has he joined the FOX NFL pregame show, but he also just completed filming a cameo on the NBC geek adventure comedy Chuck. He plays Mitt, the manager of the sporting goods store that's in the same shopping center as Buy More, the store where Chuck works. He and his crew take over the home theater portion of the store during lunchtimes, playing Madden '09 and making a mess. My guess is that we'll set up a geeks vs. jocks scenario with retail being the venue, instead of the locker room.
