Scott Porter of 'Friday Night Lights' is Ready for Adventure on 'Nomads'

by Mike Moody, posted Mar 4th 2010 3:02PM
scott porter nomads friday night lightsSome of our favorite 'Friday Night Lights' graduates are starting to find their post-game footing.

Taylor Kitsch is heading to the big screen in 'John Carter of Mars', Minka Kelly is starring in a CBS comedy pilot, and Jason Street himself, Scott Porter, has landed a leading role in 'Nomads', the CW's adventure series pilot.

'Nomads' sounds like a welcome departure from the network's recent teen girl-friendly fare. The show follows a group of broke, young (and probably very sexy) backpackers working secret missions for the CIA abroad.

CBS adds to NCIS and subtracts from Numb3rs

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 5th 2009 8:10AM
Numb3rsMichael Ausiello is reporting that CBS has reduced the number of episodes of Numb3rs for this season from 22 to only 16. What does this mean for the show? Well, it means that sometimes numbers aren't good even on Numb3rs. It also means that this pretty much guarantees that this will be the last season for the show. Ausiello thinks that CBS will put Flashpoint in the time slot when the episodes run out.

So, are all of you people who tried to save Southland going to mount a similar campaign for this show? I didn't think so.

Great news for Burn Notice

by Allison Waldman, posted Aug 10th 2009 3:02PM

A lot of times, the news about ratings isn't good. Or not good enough, so shows that you care about have to hope for the kindness of TV executives to give that show more time to improve or find a new time slot or something ... just to survive. That's why it's such a pleasure that Burn Notice did great in the ratings for the summer season finale last Thursday. According to the numbers, 7.6 million total viewers were glued to the set, the most eyeballs for any scripted TV shows that night.

CBS Cancels 'Without a Trace,' 'Eleventh Hour'

by Andrew Scott, posted May 20th 2009 11:00AM
Without a TraceOn the heels of yesterday's cancellation of 'The Unit,' CBS is now saying goodbye to 'Without a Trace' and 'Eleventh Hour.'

'Eleventh Hour' ran for one season in the network's 10PM slot, which will now be filled by ratings juggernaut 'The Mentalist,' according to Variety.

Meanwhile, the Ausiello Files says 'Without a Trace''s cancellation came down to the wire. 'Trace' battled 'Numb3rs' for the network's final spot, but lost out because 'Numb3rs' is reportedly "less expensive to produce."

CBS canceling stars' raises

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 10th 2009 9:02AM
This is either a sign that the overpaid and overindulged of the world are finally getting some karmic retribution, or the global economy is one more flush away from total chaos.

I know it's the second one, but we all need a little hope.

Entertainment Weekly has learned that CBS told their big stars to not even bother asking for another raise this year. The salary freezes only affect shows produced by the network, such as Numb3rs, NCIS and all of the CSIs.

Things are looking grim for The Ex List

by Allison Waldman, posted Oct 27th 2008 8:04AM
Reasoner-Ex ListAs Jason wrote the other day, this has been a strange TV season thus far, with only two shows having been given the pink slip. That said, I think CBS's The Ex List is not long for this world. There are a couple of really good reasons I say this, and just so you know, I'm not wishing for its demise. I can just read the handwriting on the wall.

The Nielsen ratings from last Friday show that the shows around The Ex List -- Ghost Whisperer and Numb3rs -- posted their highest ratings of the season to date. Nearly 10 million viewers watched the Jennifer Love Hewitt show, while another 9 million were glued to the Rob Morrow brotherly procedural at 10 p.m. In between, however, The Ex List drooped to a season low 5.6 million.

What to Watch Friday, Oct. 3

The Ex List'The Ex List'
(9PM ET, CBS) series premiere
Talk about calling a do over! Thirtysomething single Bella ('Grey's Anatomy's' Elizabeth Reaser) visits a psychic who tells her she has just one year to find her true love, or she's likely to end up alone.

As if that wasn't enough to send her biological clock ticking, ticking, ticking, Bella's also told that she's already met -- and dated -- the man of her dreams, meaning she's gotta pull out the titular list of exes to reconnect and see which one was The One who got away.

Sure, it's an only-in-TV land premise, but Reaser is a delightful, quirky, and, thankfully, happier character than she was as 'Grey's's' trauma-prone Jane Doe. Although, considering Doe's woes, she'd almost have to be ...

Update - CBS renews a slew of shows

by Allison Waldman, posted Feb 15th 2008 4:20PM
bigbangFans of the Tiffany network can do the happy dance. CBS has renewed 11 scripted shows for the 2008-2009 TV season. The lucky 11 are: CSI; CSI: Miami; CSI: New York; NCIS; Criminal Minds; Cold Case; Without a Trace; Ghost Whisperer; Numb3rs; Two and a Half Men; and The Big Bang Theory.

There are not a lot of surprises in this bunch, although it's great news that The Big Bang Theory, CBS's rookie Monday-night sitcom from Chuck Lorre's stable, made the cut. Still in limbo, however, are three other Monday-night comedies from the network: How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, and The New Adventures of Old Christine. The story speculates that Mother will get the greenlight for a fourth season soon, but Rules and Christine seem to be in competition for the 9:30-10:00 half-hour slot.
