Stewart Responds to Occupy Wall Street Riots in Oakland (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 27th 2011 4:15AM
Jon Stewart decided to check in on how the nationwide Occupy Wall Street movement has been going on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). While most of the cities feature the same kind of peaceful protests we've become used to seeing, it's an entirely different picture in Oakland, California."The police saw the situation deteriorating in terms of a public safety threat," one report said. "They saw health conditions getting bad, so they decided to get rid of those protesters."
Wayans want to build movie studio and theme park
by Adam Finley, posted Mar 8th 2006 6:01PM
Wayans brothers Keenen Ivory, Damon, Shawn and Marlon are negotiating with city
officials in Oakland, California to build a movie studio and theme park where an Army base once stood. The council
gave the brothers exclusive rights to the site. They've already put down a $150,000 security deposit. Since the deal is
still being hammered out, there's not much info on what the heck they plan to do with the land, though they're
apparently considering building a luxury hotel and some high-end stores in addition to the movie studio and theme park.
Hmm, sounds rather swanky.
