Six of the more bizarre reality shows

by Jackie Schnoop, posted Oct 2nd 2007 11:03AM
Unreality televisionOh, I know some folks think the entire genre of reality television is odd. But I'm a reality television junkie, yet there are some shows that even I can't justify existing. I'm not talking about Being Bobby Brown or living with the Bonaduces or shows of that ilk. I'm talking outright strange, bizarre, odd, sometimes dangerous, and just plain out there shows.

Now, I've personally thought of shows with names like So You Think You Can Skydive (self-explanatory) or Piranha Pond (marooned on an island in a piranha-filled pond and must swim ashore), but no one takes my ideas seriously. But the shows on this list either existed, were canned after production or will be coming your way!

A third season of Wonder Showzen is unlikely

by Adam Finley, posted Oct 18th 2006 11:01AM

Wonder ShowzenIt is indeed a sad day, fellow fans of Wonder Showzen. In an interview with Radar, show creators Vernon Chatman and John Lee have said that MTV2 has still given no official word on whether their subversive, blood-soaked, drug-addled tribute to children's shows will return for a third season. Currently, Lee says the answer is about "ninety percent 'no'" as to whether or not the show will return.

As is the case with most shows that includes kids dressed up as a dead Pope, dozens of scenes segmented on the screen and played simultaneously, a dog pulling a baby from a pregnant woman's womb while she's being killed in an electric chair and puppets dry humping the Bible, Wonder Showzen had a devoted fanbase but never got the ratings that would make a network want to keep it around. It's not much consolation, but the second season does come out on DVD today, so you can always pop it into the ol' DVD player and remember the good times. Also, the brains at Adult Swim have expressed their love for Wonder Showzen, so maybe there's still a small glimmer of hope for the show after all. Keep the faith, brothers and sisters.

Clips of Japanese weirdness

by Adam Finley, posted Jan 16th 2006 12:31PM

polar bearI admit it. I have a proclivity for watching weird TV shows done in languages I don't understand. Since I know I'm not the only one out there who does this, I invite you to take a gander at some of these clips of Japanese game shows. I think the videos are safe for work, depending on your company's tolerance for scantily-clad women (and men). If you click the above link you'll also find more videos listed in the comments. I'm not making any claims about the content of those, however. You'll have to venture into that particular jungle on your own.
