I'll Say It: Worst. Olympics. Ever.
by Stephanie Earp, posted Feb 19th 2010 1:30PM

Worst Olympics Ever.
Oh I'm sorry, am I not allowed to say that? Because on Day 2 of the Games, I almost got into a Facebook fight with an old friend when he posted a status update that accused those of us with discerning tastes and sharp tongues of not supporting our country. He got an argument from me, but support from pretty much everyone else.
I guess VANOC is like our troops in the PR war. Nelly Furtado's lip synching is the shock and awe of the Olympiad. Isn't this how Bush got elected a second time?
Not only am I not sorry for coming out and saying that The Vancouver Games and the TV coverage of the Games suck, I'm actually kind of enjoying myself.

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 18th 2010 1:50AM
Have you got Olympic fever? We do, and there's been plenty of special moments in Vancouver during the '2010 Winter Olympics' (daily, on NBC). Lyndsey Vonn said, "I'm not trying to be Michael Phelps. I just want a medal of any color." The USA skier got her wish after scoring a gold medal for Ladies' Downhill.
Meanwhile, Shaun White also won a gold medal for snowboarding, after throwing in his signature trick on his second run in the Men's Halfpipe. Go, USA!

by Hulu Staff, posted Feb 17th 2010 5:30PM
The Winter Olympics in Vancouver are underway, and soon we'll see which athletes become this year's biggest stars. And once the games are over, many of them will inevitably make their way to television with cameo appearances and reality competitions. (Let's start our Lindsey Vonn on 'Dancing with the Stars' campaign now, everyone!) With that in mind, the Hulu team took a look back to find other Olympic heroes who have crossed over to TV over the years. Here are some of our favorites.

What You Missed Last Night: Tracy Morgan on Oprah and the Olympics
by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 16th 2010 11:27AM
A Tracy Morgan interview is truly an unpredictable event, as Joel found out last year. Often you don't know if you're talking to Tracy Morgan or Tracy Jordan from '30 Rock,' so anything is possible. Last night he was on 'The Late Show' and talked about Oprah Winfrey, 'The Wolfman,' and why he doesn't watch the Winter Olympics. They could probably use this on '30 Rock.'
NBC Hits Ratings Gold With Olympics Coverage
by Laura Prudom, posted Feb 16th 2010 11:15AM
It may be chilly in Vancouver (well, if you consider low-50s chilly), but NBC's ratings for the opening weekend of the Winter Games have proved to be surprisingly hot stuff.According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBC has averaged an unexpected 28.6 million viewers over the first three days of its Olympics coverage, which marks a 25 percent increase over the 2006 Torino Games.
Reports indicate that those numbers also mark the highest non-U.S. Winter Games debut since as far back as 1994, when the Lillehammer Games got a boost from the Nancy Kerrigan/Tonya Harding Figure Skating scandal, in which Harding allegedly covered up a conspiracy between her ex-husband and bodyguard to attack her competitor, Kerrigan, during a practice session.
Does NBC's Olympics Theme Music Sound Familiar?
by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 15th 2010 5:03PM
Sharp-eared TV fans have probably known this for a long time because NBC has been using the music for a while, but 'Lost' producer Carlton Cuse Twittered about it the other day to let everyone else know: a lot of the music that NBC is using on their Olympics coverage is the theme song to another show that Carlton co-created/produced back in the early 90s. Here's the video. God I loved this show.

And So It Begins: 'Today's' Annoying Olympics Coverage
by Joel Keller, posted Feb 12th 2010 12:29PM
Although I'm generally a 'Today' show loyalist, for the next two weeks, I'm going to be a 'Good Morning America' fan. Why? Three words: The Winter Olympics.
Every two years, since NBC started carrying the Olympics, they turn their top-rated morning news show into essentially the Games' morning recap show. Sure, you still get that first half hour of pure news, but after that, the show becomes all-Olympics, all the time, from examining the personal stories of the athletes, to travelogues about whatever exotic locale the Games are in that year, to deep, 'SportsCenter'-like examination of the previous night's results.
But that's not the part that annoys me the most. When the hosts go out and try to do the Olympic sports themselves, the cringe factor goes up exponentially. Especially when Matt Lauer and Al Roker are involved.
