Oprah Lays Into Andrew Young About John Edwards Scandal (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 24th 2010 10:48PM
The John Edwards scandal just gets better – or worse, depending on your perspective – by the minute. His former campaign aid Andrew Young appeared on 'Oprah Winfrey' (weekdays, syndicated) to talk about the scandal, as well as his book 'The Politician.'Oprah Winfrey did not cut him any slack. "A lot of people would take a fall for people, but this, to me, was bigger than that," she said. "It wasn't just about taking a fall for John Edwards, it was about literally deceiving every American who was going to vote for him."
Young was definitely in an interesting situation. Where does his job leave off and his sense of moral duty to the country -- and Elizabeth Edwards -- begin?

Oprah Swipes Shaun White from 'The Early Show'
by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 22nd 2010 10:00PM
Did it seem weird to anyone else that Oprah Winfrey managed to score the first big interview with Olympic wonderboy Shaun White? That's because her awesome Oprah powers allowed her to scoop the entire mainstream media. Actually, CBS' 'Early Show' had plans to do a remote interview with the snowboarder, but Oprah's people snatched it away from them in the zero hour.
One of the network's news producers wrote on her blog that she had everything from flights to remote broadcasts set up to interview White following his medal ceremony, but "it's tough to compete with Oprah and a private plane."
'Ellen' to Stay on NBC Stations; Won't Replace 'Oprah'
by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 12th 2010 9:05AM
It looks like Ellen won't be the new Oprah after all. If I were Oprah, I'd be very relieved. I wouldn't want someone taking over my soul and inhabiting my body solely for "ratings." Ellen DeGeneres has re-upped her daytime talk show for four more years and will stay on NBC's affiliates through the remainder of her current contract.
This ends speculation that Ellen would "become the new Oprah" in the wake of Oprah announcing she will end her show in September of 2011. If she did take Oprah's place though, it would have been interesting to see if Stedman came with the deal.
Pink Dishes on Wet Grammy Performance (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 5th 2010 8:03PM
Anyone who watched Pink's silk-and-water acrobatics during the Grammys last week knew they were seeing something truly awesome. In Oprah's words, "It felt transcendent. It felt like taking us out of something more than just the music, but into the music."Yes! That's exactly what it felt like. And of course, it allowed Pink to do something really cool: "I wanted to get all the famous people wet." Yeah, there's that, too.

'Oprah' Has a Baby! (VIDEO)
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 5th 2010 7:30PM
Just about everything that can happen has happened on 'Oprah' (weekdays, syndicated). Except one thing. A baby!Yes, the show celebrated its first birth of a baby this week, and Oprah was so excited she even ran out to the street and checked on the new mom in the ambulance.
In case you're wondering, it's a boy. And it's name is Justin Oprah! Ok, not really, but Oprah couldn't help joking about it. And what a story that mom and her wee one will have to tell in the years ahead!

OWN Announces 'Oprah' Reality Series
by Allyssa Lee, posted Feb 2nd 2010 4:14PM
Leave it to Oprah Winfrey to find a way to be at two places at once. As many of you know, the talk show maven's new cable network, the aptly-named Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), will launch next January.
Only, a contract agreement with her present, syndicated talk show prevents America's Favorite TV Personality from appearing on another talk show until 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' ends its epic run in September 2011, says the New York Times.
MTV cancels Alexa Chung's show
by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 11th 2009 8:02PM
MTV's first and last foray into the daytime talk show market has come to an abrupt halt. Alex Chung, the British model turn talk show host, has lost her daytime talk show It's On with Alexa Chung on MTV after just two seasons. The network announced that the show would not return following its final show on Dec. 17.
I never watched the show and judging from its style and substance, I don't seem to be the demographic for it so I'm wary of criticizing or critiquing exactly what MTV has lost here. For those of who have seen it, did MTV lose something special? It seems to me that this is just a result of the slow eradication of daytime talk shows from small players like the Chung-fest and power forwards like Oprah "The Refrigerator" Winfrey.
Who Should Take Oprah Winfrey's Time Slot?
by AOL TV Staff, posted Dec 10th 2009 3:00PM
Oprah Winfrey is bidding her talk show adieu in 2010 -- and once 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' is off the air, her loyal viewers are going to have to watching something at 4PM every day (right?). It's a plum time slot, and there will be many vying to take it over. One obvious contender would be Oprah's protege, Dr. Mehmet Oz; another is the ever-cheerful Rachael Ray. Then there's Kate Gosselin, whose new talk show will premiere this spring (perfect timing!).
Not that Oprah is replaceable, but who should replace her show at 4PM? Vote and let us know.
Conan O'Brien, aka the new Oprah, orders his masses to buy Troll 2
by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 8th 2009 6:09PM
Conan O'Brien has been trying to worm his way into Oprah's audience of unimaginative simpletons who lack the ability to form their own opinions, taste and style by offering his own recommendations for books, movies and music.
This week, he recommended the classic Troll 2, an extremely B-minus movie about a family attacked by a group of vegetarian trolls who turn people into plants for sustenance. Conan's people may or may not already know this, but Troll 2 already has an insane following of people. The film's star, Michael Paul Stephenson, made an acclaimed documentary on the film's history and popularity called Best Worst Movie and the film's director Claudio Degrasso is reportedly prepping a sequel called (I swear I'm not making this up) Troll 2: Part 2.

Chris Rock Pokes Fun at Oprah's Baby Picture (VIDEO)
by Elizabeth Chan, posted Dec 3rd 2009 11:08AM
Chris Rock made an appearance on the 'Oprah Winfrey Show' to promote his latest documentary, 'Good Hair.' The documentary is about the struggles of black women and their hair, and Oprah admits that she is no stranger to the topic by presenting the photographic evidence on her show. Only Chris Rock can get away with what he says to Oprah after seeing her baby picture, which had the audience -- and the daytime queen herself -- rolling with laughter.
Oprah Kicks Off 12 Days of Give-O-Way With Alicia Keys and Tim McGraw (VIDEO)
by Elizabeth Chan, posted Dec 1st 2009 12:19PM
On yesterday's episode of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show,' Oprah kicked off her "12-Day Holiday Give-O-Way" by inviting some special guests to sing Christmas duets. As always, Oprah not only gives away free stuff (in this case, holiday tunes), but also brings people together. Where else but on 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' would you hear Alicia Keys and Tim McGraw singing the John Lennon classic 'Happy Xmas (War Is Over)?'

What Danny is thankful for
by Danny Gallagher, posted Nov 26th 2009 11:02AM
Who doesn't love Thanksgiving? I'll be enjoying mine with all the usual staples: turkey, cranberries, cornbread stuffing, some weird brown thing my father attempted to make and my Mom's mind-numbingly good meliton dressing. I'm literally chomping at the bit to take that first of 227 bites of homemade turkey. I've gone through three remotes in the last hour. But I have to come up with something to do after all the food has been ravenously devoured by that wolf pack I call my family. And rather than list 100 reasons for regretting life (because 99 of them would be "Why did I eat that?"), here some things I have to be thankful for instead.
Gayle King Says She Will Not Replace Oprah Winfrey
by Sharon Knolle, posted Nov 25th 2009 11:20AM
Now that talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has announced she's stepping down in 2011, rumors are flying about who might replace her.Among the rumored replacements: Gayle King, known to many daytime fans as Oprah's best friend.
King responded to the reports on Monday in Manhattan, telling Access Hollywood, "That's a very good rumor. That is not true. I haven't had one conversation with CBS about taking over that 4PM slot."
Aha! So, does that mean she's in talks for a different time slot? Probably not. "I don't know anybody that could take over that slot," she added.
Oprah to end syndicated show in September 2011
by Joel Keller, posted Nov 19th 2009 6:55PM
There had been lots of speculation that Oprah Winfrey was going to be giving up on her juggernaut of a syndicated talk show soon, but many of those rumors had been dismissed as negotiating ploys or some other silly rumor. Now, however, it seems like Oprah's departure from daytime is official: Tim Bennett, president of Harpo, confirmed that Oprah will announce on her show tomorrow that she will be ending the program on September 9, 2011.Not coincidentally, that date is the day after the 25th anniversary of her first nationally-syndicated episode, and she'll mark the anniversary on her last show. Bennett told WCCO that this decision was under discussion for months, but the decision ultimately came down to the big O herself.
Sarah Palin Interview: Oprah's Highest-Rated Show in Two Years
by Elizabeth Chan, posted Nov 18th 2009 5:00PM
This is what they probably meant by keep your friends close -- and your enemies closer.According to the Live Feed, Oprah's sit down with Sarah Palin on Monday earned an impressive 8.7 rating, making it 'The Oprah Winfrey Show''s highest-rated show in two years. That tops a 2007 interview, in which Oprah interviewed the entire Osmond family.
Palin -- who appeared on the show to promote her new memoir 'Going Rogue: An American Life' -- even ousted the much-touted, two-part season premiere interview with Whitney Houston.
