Once such unexpected thing: seeing Oprah and Katie dancing together during an after-party at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. But were the two female journalists "bringing sexy back" (so to speak) while they were out on the dance floor? Well, sort of.

Oprah's Favorite Things: The Full List of Things She Didn't Give You

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 23rd 2010 10:30AM
OprahRemember back in 2009 when Oprah Winfrey didn't have her usual 'Favorite Things' episode? Because of the bad economy at the time, Oprah decided that it would have been a little over-the-top to give away expensive gifts.

(Though, wouldn't you think that a bad economy is the best time to do a show like this? Maybe invite some people in need and make it the best Christmas ever?)

She did have a 'Favorite Things' episode in 2008, but gave the audience free recipes and downloadable Christmas songs. If you saw that episode you probably cringed a bit.

So either the economy must be better or Oprah has changed her mind. She had a 'Favorite Things' show -- actually two shows -- this year. And since it's her final season, you knew that the gifts were going to be special.

Five Ways to Improve the OWN Lineup

by Bob Sassone, posted Nov 2nd 2010 5:00PM
OWNPretend you're one of the richest, most powerful people on television. And pretend you buy an entire network and you're going to create a new channel from scratch. What would you put on that channel?

You would think that if you were a very rich, very powerful person, adored by millions, that you'd put shows on that you might not be able do find on other channels. You'd want to make that network special, right? So you'd probably want to steer clear of reality shows, makeover shows, typical daytime fare and self-help, right?

Not if you own OWN.

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 2nd 2010 12:06AM
Portia de Rossi on Her Secret Eating Disorder -- and What Saved Her LifePortia de Rossi once weighed 82 pounds. The actress existed on a 300 calorie-a-day diet: family members were afraid she would die. Eventually, she collapsed while on a film set -- as a result of her diet, her internal organs were failing. She was only 25 years old.

The actress began dieting as a 12-year-old. She was a child model; an agent told Portia her skinny frame was too large. As a result, De Rossi became anorexic and bulimic. It took her more than a decade to recover.

On 'Oprah' (weekdays, syndicated), Portia revealed her eating disorder -- and discussed what saved her life. De Rossi was saved by a strong female presence ... but it wasn't her wife Ellen DeGeneres. No, Portia credits her survival to the day when she "found love ... with a horse."

Scott Foley and Laura Prepon Land Major New Roles, Oprah Sued and More

by Jean Bentley, posted Oct 29th 2010 11:50AM
Scott Foley, Laura PreponA pair of former TV stars are returning to the small screen: Former 'Felicity' and 'The Unit' leading man Scott Foley has landed a major recurring role on 'Grey's Anatomy,' while 'That 70s Show' actress Laura Prepon will appear on 'Castle.'

Foley will play Teddy's new love interest, who also happens to be a patient at Seattle Grace. Deadline reports that it's a "major recurring role," which is usually 'Grey's' guru Shonda Rimes' way of introducing characters -- so Foley might stick around the hospital longer than your typical guest star.

Prepon, on the other hand, has been cast as Nikki Heat, the main character in 'Castle''s movie/novel-within-a-show. TV Guide reports that her first appearance will be in the Jan. 3 post-'Bachelor' premiere episode.

However, as Oprah Winfrey pointed out, Fuhrman may be to blame. He may have helped the killer evade justice.

For example, if he was hungry for pizza, he would combine the symbols for "cheese," "tomato," and "bread."

She discussed her increasingly impenetrable South American accent, and how it was her dream to one day marry the dumpy guy from 'Married ... With Children.'
