by Chris Harnick, posted Apr 6th 2010 5:38PM
Tracy MorganTracy Morgan stopped by 'Oprah Winfrey' (weekdays, syndicated) and discussed Tina Fey's role in shaping his career. When Oprah Winfrey asked the funnyman how he'd describe Fey's influence, Morgan appeared to get choked up.

"She's my friend, Tina's my friend," Morgan said. "I love her ... she understood I knew who I was ... she understood I was making choices."

Morgan said Fey not only wrote him parts, but encouraged him to develop his persona. But, just how did Fey come to understand Morgan? Well, according to him, it's because she partied with him.

'Glee' Cast to Appear on 'Oprah'

by Allyssa Lee, posted Mar 18th 2010 3:45PM
Considering its relatively short time on air, the cast of 'Glee' has racked up some pretty impressive invitations to some pretty important events: They've sung the national anthem at the World Series. They've been invited to appear at the White House. But that's just small potatoes compared to arguably the biggest show of all: Oprah Winfrey's.

But now, Ausiello Files is reporting that the queen of all media has invited the cast of the Fox sensation to her Chicago headquarters for an all-out 'Oprah Winfrey Show' 'Glee' fest next month!

Roger Ebert Debuts New Computer Voice on 'Oprah' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 3rd 2010 12:05AM
Oprah Winfrey, Roger Ebert's New VoiceRoger Ebert's voice could never really be silenced because he's such a force of nature in the film industry. But it's heartening to know that the film critic's actual voice can now be heard, thanks to a new computer program he debuted on 'Oprah Winfrey' (weekdays, syndicated).

And we bet his wife is a force of nature, too. It's not easy being a caregiver, but you can tell she's stood by him through thick and thin. Good for these two, shining examples of what a good attitude and a good partnership should be.

March 2010 Premiere Dates And Finales

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 27th 2010 10:00AM
Dancing with the Stars / Nip/Tuck
Now that Olympic fever has subsided, it's time to look ahead to a March filled with many returning favorites, including ABC's 'Dancing with the Stars,' NBC's 'The Apprentice,' and Comedy Central's bad boys of 'South Park.' The month also offers both 'The 82nd Annual Academy Awards' on ABC and NCAA Basketball's "March Madness" on CBS.

March kicks off with one of the most controversial premieres of the year. After a dismal performance in primetime, Jay Leno returns to 'The Tonight Show' (Mon., March 1 at 11:35PM on NBC) desk he temporarily vacated for Conan O'Brien. Make sure you don't miss a moment of the biggest premieres and finales in March.

Oprah Lays Into Andrew Young About John Edwards Scandal (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 24th 2010 10:48PM
Oprah Winfrey, Andrew Young, John EdwardsThe John Edwards scandal just gets better – or worse, depending on your perspective – by the minute. His former campaign aid Andrew Young appeared on 'Oprah Winfrey' (weekdays, syndicated) to talk about the scandal, as well as his book 'The Politician.'

Oprah Winfrey did not cut him any slack. "A lot of people would take a fall for people, but this, to me, was bigger than that," she said. "It wasn't just about taking a fall for John Edwards, it was about literally deceiving every American who was going to vote for him."

Young was definitely in an interesting situation. Where does his job leave off and his sense of moral duty to the country -- and Elizabeth Edwards -- begin?

Oprah Swipes Shaun White from 'The Early Show'

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 22nd 2010 10:00PM
Did it seem weird to anyone else that Oprah Winfrey managed to score the first big interview with Olympic wonderboy Shaun White? That's because her awesome Oprah powers allowed her to scoop the entire mainstream media.

Actually, CBS' 'Early Show' had plans to do a remote interview with the snowboarder, but Oprah's people snatched it away from them in the zero hour.

One of the network's news producers wrote on her blog that she had everything from flights to remote broadcasts set up to interview White following his medal ceremony, but "it's tough to compete with Oprah and a private plane."

'Ellen' to Stay on NBC Stations; Won't Replace 'Oprah'

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 12th 2010 9:05AM
It looks like Ellen won't be the new Oprah after all. If I were Oprah, I'd be very relieved. I wouldn't want someone taking over my soul and inhabiting my body solely for "ratings."

Ellen DeGeneres has re-upped her daytime talk show for four more years and will stay on NBC's affiliates through the remainder of her current contract.

This ends speculation that Ellen would "become the new Oprah" in the wake of Oprah announcing she will end her show in September of 2011. If she did take Oprah's place though, it would have been interesting to see if Stedman came with the deal.

Pink Dishes on Wet Grammy Performance (VIDEO)

'Oprah' - Pink dishes on Grammy PerformanceAnyone who watched Pink's silk-and-water acrobatics during the Grammys last week knew they were seeing something truly awesome. In Oprah's words, "It felt transcendent. It felt like taking us out of something more than just the music, but into the music."

Yes! That's exactly what it felt like. And of course, it allowed Pink to do something really cool: "I wanted to get all the famous people wet." Yeah, there's that, too.

'Oprah' has a babyJust about everything that can happen has happened on 'Oprah' (weekdays, syndicated). Except one thing. A baby!

Yes, the show celebrated its first birth of a baby this week, and Oprah was so excited she even ran out to the street and checked on the new mom in the ambulance.

In case you're wondering, it's a boy. And it's name is Justin Oprah! Ok, not really, but Oprah couldn't help joking about it. And what a story that mom and her wee one will have to tell in the years ahead!

OWN Announces 'Oprah' Reality Series

by Allyssa Lee, posted Feb 2nd 2010 4:14PM
Leave it to Oprah Winfrey to find a way to be at two places at once.

As many of you know, the talk show maven's new cable network, the aptly-named Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), will launch next January.

Only, a contract agreement with her present, syndicated talk show prevents America's Favorite TV Personality from appearing on another talk show until 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' ends its epic run in September 2011, says the New York Times.

The Next Step for Team Coco

by Stephanie Earp, posted Jan 26th 2010 10:42AM

Now that it's official - Conan O'Brien's job at NBC is over as of Friday - it's time for Conan to think about how he wants to spend the next few months. He's free to take a new job as of September 1st, but in the meantime, if there's nothing to prevent him from taking part-time gigs, I have a few ideas of how he could spend his time.

'This Hour Has 22 Minutes' and Conan

I give Mark Critch full credit for this idea. Last week, he finished up a broadcast by inviting the beleaguered O'Brien to join the cast of '22 Minutes.' Conan should do it.

10 TV Talk Shows We Wish Hadn't Bit the Dust

by Leonard Jacobs, posted Jan 23rd 2010 10:00AM
And another one bites the dust.

Tyra Banks had long been contemplating ways to forge an Oprah-style media empire well before the debut of her eponymous talk show in 2005. Setting aside her guest shots on 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' in the 1990s, Banks decided to establish her TV-Q as a host by successfully launching 'America's Next Top Model' in 2003. That gave her the clout to fashion 'The Tyra Banks Show' -- which she segued to just three months after leaving the runway -- into something that was part tabloid, part tasteful.

Now that Banks has announced she's ending her talk show this season -- she'll be focusing on her production company, Bankable Studios, among other projects -- we formally add 'The Tyra Banks Show' to the pantheon of great talk shows we wish hadn't bit the dust.

MTV cancels Alexa Chung's show

by Danny Gallagher, posted Dec 11th 2009 8:02PM
MTV's first and last foray into the daytime talk show market has come to an abrupt halt.

Alex Chung, the British model turn talk show host, has lost her daytime talk show It's On with Alexa Chung on MTV after just two seasons. The network announced that the show would not return following its final show on Dec. 17.

I never watched the show and judging from its style and substance, I don't seem to be the demographic for it so I'm wary of criticizing or critiquing exactly what MTV has lost here. For those of who have seen it, did MTV lose something special? It seems to me that this is just a result of the slow eradication of daytime talk shows from small players like the Chung-fest and power forwards like Oprah "The Refrigerator" Winfrey.
