Jon Stewart Asks Former Pakistani President Musharraf About Bin Laden (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 20th 2011 11:15AM
Pervez Musharraf, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'The last time Jon Stewart had Pervez Musharraf on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central), he was the President of Pakistan.

Musharraf was in office from June 2001 until he resigned in August 2008, and he's been in self-imposed exile from Pakistan since his resignation. However, he has plans to return and run for president again in 2012.

But Stewart was more interested in the fact that Musharraf was president while a certain terrorist was holed up in Pakistan.

It was a very candid interview, and Musharraf gave some very direct answers to Stewart, who wasn't holding back in his questions.

'Secrets of Seal Team 6' Shows Digital Reenactment of Bin Laden's Death (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 11th 2011 2:24AM
'Secrets of Seal Team 6'Discovery took us inside the 'Secrets of Seal Team 6' (Sun., 9PM ET on Discovery), but one of the more compelling moments of the special wasn't a secret at all. It was, rather, a visual presentation of the operation that took out Osama Bin Laden.

While the graphics in this presentation weren't even on par with the top-of-the-line video games currently on the market, it was enough to help us visualize exactly what happened during the 38-minute raid that killed bin Laden.

For the people devastated by the events of 9/11 directly, as well as the rest of the country and world, it's a strange piece of closure. None of us were there when the world's most wanted terrorist was shot and killed, but now we can say we "saw" how it happened.

Stephen Colbert Reluctantly Admired Bin Laden's Meticulous Accounting (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 3rd 2011 4:30AM
'The Colbert Report'It was with reluctance, but Stephen Colbert had to give a Tip of the Hat to Osama Bin Laden on 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central). He simply had to give props for al-Qaeda's meticulous collecting of receipts.

"Bin Laden kept immaculate financial records," he said. "No doubt using al-Quicken." He had to give it up to Bin Laden for "not just being al-Qaeda's charismatic leader, but also their annoying guy from Accounting."

He then went into an impression of the terrorist leader. "Remember Khalil, after you're martyred, your 72 virgins don't carry over to the next fiscal year. Use them or lose them."

Did Betty White Kill Osama Bin Laden? (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted May 18th 2011 8:35AM
Betty White on 'The Late, Late Show With Craig Ferguson'Viewers got to see a new and totally unexpected side of veteran actress Betty White on 'The Late Late Show' (Weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS).

Did she really command the elite squad that killed Osama Bin Laden?

When host Craig Ferguson announced that his next guest was "The leader of the elite Navy SEAL Team 6, Captain White," we could have been forgiven for expecting to see a big, strapping macho guy. Imagine our surprise when we saw none other than 'The Golden Girls' star. Is there no end to the woman's talents?

Talking about the daring raid on Bin Laden's compound in Pakistan, White set a somber mood by saying "It was really dark, I couldn't see anything," but then joked that, "I realized that my helmet was on backwards."

Martin Short Sings a Tribute to the Killing of Osama Bin Laden (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 18th 2011 4:59AM
Martin Short, 'Late Show with David Letterman'Martin Short went on 'Late Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on CBS) with a tribute to Osama Bin Laden. Just like Elton John repurposed his song 'Candle in the Wind' to commemorate the death of Princess Diana, Short took that same song to pay tribute to 'Al-Qaeda's Rose.'

It was a beautifully dramatic presentation, with Short poised behind the piano, tickling the ivories. When he reached the lines "It seems to me you lived your life / Like a bastard in the sand / Never knowing when the US / Navy SEALs would land," the camera cut back to show men dressed in uniform representing SEAL Team Six.

By the end of the number, which included lines about Bin Laden getting shot in the face and burning in Hell, an American flag had dropped to emphasize the patriotism of this beautiful moment of cathartic silliness.

Jon Stewart Mocks Osama Bin Laden's Secret Porn Stash on 'The Daily Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 17th 2011 3:32AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'Jon Stewart described the discovery of a stash of pornography in Osama Bin Laden's compound as a gift for 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central). His staff was giddy with excitement, writing jokes and making graphics for their planned coverage.

But first there was the matter of how NBC News broke the story. "NBC News can now confirm that a stash of pornography was found inside the terror leader's lair," Martin Bashir said.

It was the "can now confirm" part Stewart took issue with. "There was some talk in our morning editorial meeting as to whether or not it could be classified as erotica," Stewart mocked. "And then we saw a picture of a woman ******* a horse. So, we believe this be straight-up porn."

TV Feels Impact of Osama Bin Laden's Death

by Chris Harnick, posted May 5th 2011 5:15PM
Happy EndingsWe previously reported 'NCIS' will incorporate Osama bin Laden's death, but the al-Quaeda leader's demise has had other affects on TV.

According to Deadline, 'Happy Endings' modified a joke about bin Laden. Like 'Chuck,' the series left the joke in, but muted the punchline. In the scene, Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) are trying to capture a mouse.

"It's been like, four days. I can't believe you haven't caught this mouse yet," Alex said.

"I know, he's like my bin Laden. Jessica bin Laden, this super hot Arab girl I went to college with," Dave said. Then viewers heard a pause. The original line, "The one that got away," was removed.

Jon Stewart: We See Gore Every Day in Primetime, Why Not Release Bin Laden Photos? (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 5th 2011 3:40AM
'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart'With the White House having decided to not release the pictures of Osama bin Laden's body, Jon Stewart responded to the various news pundits saying the pictures were too gory or gruesome on 'The Daily Show' (Weeknights, 11PM ET on Comedy Central).

"Have you met us?" he asked. He then went on to talk about our current obsession with the crime procedural and some of the gruesome images we see on prime time television all the time.

"From 8PM on, every show on television we watch begins with an internal tracking shot of a gaping wound above someone's left eye pulling out only to reveal half a hooker in a dumpster discovered by a child on a bicycle," Stewart said.

Stephen Colbert Suggests Using Osama Bin Laden's Body as a Pinata (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted May 4th 2011 1:30PM
If Stephen Colbert had his way, Osama bin Laden's body wouldn't have been given full Muslim funeral rites and buried at sea. On 'The Colbert Report' (weeknights, 11:30PM on COM), Colbert unveiled a much more colorful (and festive) plan for the terrorist leader's body.

Colbert watched clips of various pundits balking at the sensitive treatment of bin Laden's remains, then weighed in with his own idea.

Rebecca Black Takes Osama Bin Laden to an Eternal 'Friday' in Hell on 'Kimmel' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted May 4th 2011 4:32AM
Osama Bin Laden & Rebecca Black, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live'Just when you'd got Rebecca Black's infectious internet hit 'Friday' out of your head, 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (Weeknights, 12AM ET on ABC) had to go and put it right back. In a goofy video "tribute" to the death of Bin Laden, Kimmel modified the lyrics of Black's viral sensation to better suit the current situation.

"Hitler in the front seat, Saddam in the back seat" and "It's Friday, Friday, fry in Hell on Friday!" replaced the nonsensical original lyrics, giving the song a new and as yet unheard coherence. It's as if the tune and music and vocal stylings of Rebecca Black were meant for a parody song.

Osama Bin Laden's Former Sister-in-Law on Her Notorious Last Name (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted May 3rd 2011 5:05PM
Osama Bin Laden's former sister-in-law Carmen Bin Laden was on 'Piers Morgan Tonight' (weeknights, 9PM ET on CNN). She talked about her notorious surname and why she never changed it, even though she has renounced everything Osama stood for and sympathized with the U.S. after the Sept. 11 attacks.

"I realized earlier on, for myself and my daughter, that there was no escape from that name," she explained.

"Changing it, people would just say 'Oh well, you know they were Bin Laden, they changed their name,'" she continued. "I thought it would be much better to explain where we stand, where our true feelings and our values are."

Stephen Colbert Worries About 'The Summer of Fin Laden' (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted May 3rd 2011 4:30PM
Osama Fin Laden on 'The Colbert Report'On 'The Colbert Report' (Weeknights, 11:30PM ET on Comedy Central), Stephen Colbert illustrated a point about how much Osama Bin Laden had changed things by recalling how the news in the summer of 2001 had been dominated by reports of shark attacks (a.k.a., "The Summer of the Shark") before the events of Sept. 11 made things much more serious.

So according to Colbert, "With Bin Laden gone, we've got nothing to worry about so long as no one chums the ocean." But then, while playing a clip explaining how U.S. Special Forces had given Bin Laden a burial at sea, Colbert made a startling connection.

"No! No, you fools!" he yelped.

"Don't you realize the Fukushima [Nuclear] Plant is releasing massive radiation into the sea?" Colbert warned. "And if a mutant shark combines with Osama's DNA, we could be facing 'The Summer of Fin Laden!'"

'NCIS' Will Integrate Osama Bin Laden's Death

by Chris Harnick, posted May 3rd 2011 3:45PM
NCISNext time the camera pans to the most-wanted list on 'NCIS,' expect to see Osama bin Laden's face with a big red X through it.

According to Vulture, the production team of 'NCIS' will digitally add a death notice over bin Laden's face when his picture appears in the background of a scene, as occasionally happens on the military show.

The series has already wrapped shooting, so adding dialogue about the terrorist leader's death was impossible, leaving the CBS series with only a digital option to address the big military news. The nod could happen as early as tonight's episode.
