by Alex Moaba, posted Jul 19th 2011 12:30PM
Rupert Murdoch hit with a pie in the face at Parliamentary hearing. In a bizarre development in an already captivating media scandal, Rupert Murdoch was hit in the face with a shaving cream pie as he was testifying before the British Parliament's Culture Media and Sport Select Committee. The 80-year-old Murdoch was unharmed in the incident, which brought the hearing to a halt for 10 minutes.

The man who hit Murdoch with the pie has been identified as comedian and activist Jonnie Marbles. A CNN producer in the hearing room tweeted that the attacker screamed, "You're a greedy billionaire" as he hit the media mogul in the face with a pie.

As Marbles was making his move, Rupert Murdoch's wife Wendi Deng can be seen standing up from her chair and smacking Marbles with a hook as he pied her husband.

Marbles tweeted right before the incident: "It is a far better thing that I do now than I have ever done before "

Check out a clip of the craziness after the jump.

Christopher Guest to direct ABC comedy pilot

by Anna Johns, posted Feb 26th 2007 7:41PM
christopher guestChristopher Guest has agreed to direct the pilot for The Thick of It, a comedy being created for ABC by Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz. The show is being adapted for an American audience from the popular British comedy by the same name. In Britain, it was about a member of Parliament who had to deal with inept politicians, a prime minister and other silly minions. I can only guess that the American version will take place in Congress?

According to his IMDB bio, Guest hasn't done much directing for television lately. He seems to stick to the "mockumentary" (he hates that word) movie genre that's heavy on improv, such as Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman.
