Patrick Dempsey Gets (Out of) a Speeding Ticket (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 12th 2010 5:46AM
Jimmy Kimmel Live, Patrick Dempsey gets out of a speeding ticketWhen actors are on the talk show circuit promoting a movie, it must be challenging coming up with funny stories for every show. Fortunately for Patrick Dempsey – out and about promoting 'Valentine's Day' – he had a new story drop right in his lap.

Seems he got stopped for speeding the morning he was scheduled to go on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' (weeknights, 12:05AM ET on ABC). Turns out it was a female cop who, apparently, was a fan and ended up not giving him a ticket. Not only that, but her gruff male partner appeared to be a fan, too. Interesting.

Patrick Dempsey Wears a Thong on 'Ellen' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 12th 2010 12:41AM
Patrick Dempsey wears a thong on 'Ellen'We had no idea that Patrick Dempsey was such a big fan of Ellen DeGeneres underwear. Apparently, he wears it around the house all the time.

To celebrate, DeGeneres gave him a whole bunch of new underwear when he stopped by 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated). There was red underwear, gold underwear, even rubber underwear.

But the best, by far, was the thong. The 'Grey's Anatomy' (Thurs., 9PM ET on ABC) star was so excited, he put it on right then and there – but darn, on top of his jeans. Oh well, we McDreamy fans can dream, can't we?

Review: 'Grey's Anatomy' - 'State of Love and Trust'

by Michael Pascua, posted Feb 5th 2010 3:05AM
The whole Seattle Grace hospital braces for big news.
(S06E13) There was no reason for 'Grey's Anatomy' to have had a rerun last week. Why didn't the producers start one week later? Either way, Derek takes over Seattle Grace this week as the chief and struggled on his first day. While he managed to figure everything out by the end of the day, it's nice to see Derek's evolution handling the responsibilities.

The Chief, or I guess he's just now demoted to "Richard," struggled with his decision to retire or go to rehab for the whole episode. While Derek, Meredith, and Bailey tried to talk to him, it was all his decision to make the next step. Here's hoping that he comes back stronger than ever.

Best TV of the '00s: Scandals

by Mike Moody, posted Dec 29th 2009 2:00PM
grey's anatomy scandalMore of our best of the decade coverage, which started earlier today. You can read the other posts at the link above. Here, we talk about the decade's biggest TV scandals.

Who doesn't like a little drama? We love it here at TV Squad. Of course, its usually the scripted kind that we obsess over, not the real-life variety. But it was hard to escape all of the behind-the-scenes scandals going on during the Aughts.

The backstage drama often spilled out onto the tube, in talk show interviews, reality series, and with the 24-hour news networks looking to fill time and boost their ratings. Needless to say, we had little trouble picking our top TV scandals of the '00s.

Dempsey makes an appearance as a celebrity volunteer and thrills the oldest daughter of the family, and Sandler bestows a gift of signed hockey sticks while delivering a special message to the six-year-old Cameron.

Simon Cowell Tops TV's Male Earners (So, Kids, Being Mean Does Pay)

by Gary Susman, posted Nov 11th 2009 12:15PM
Simon CowellMore proof that nice guys don't finish first: The two best-paid men on primetime TV this year were Simon Cowell and Donald Trump.

Forbes' new top 10 list of the best-paid men in primetime estimates that the 'American Idol' judge took home $75 million last year, while the 'Apprentice' kingpin earned $50 million from his entertainment ventures. Like many on the list, Cowell and Trump have diverse showbiz holdings that earn them much more than just the salaries they get for their on-air appearances on primetime reality shows.

Review: Grey's Anatomy - Invest in Love

by Michael Pascua, posted Nov 6th 2009 2:20AM
A party for Arizona doesn't turn out so well.
(S06E08) This episode of Grey's Anatomy shows that Grey's can be strong without having a Grey sister (or Izzie) involved. All the other characters are strong on their own, and it's nice seeing Arizona evolve as a character. Sadly, these episodes will come to an end next week.

I still laugh that pagers are still the standard for communicating with doctors outside of work. It's interesting to see the doctors dreading the fact that they didn't get enough sleep.

Who thinks of throwing a surprise birthday party anymore? I guess I'd rather take the $25 million donation to the hospital.

Review: Grey's Anatomy - Give Peace a Chance

by Michael Pascua, posted Oct 30th 2009 3:00AM
The doctors of Seattle Grace work on a surgery.
(S06E07) This week's episode of Grey's Anatomy focused on Derek and evolved the character as someone that's not just McDreamy. The show should start with Patrick Dempsey talking more often. I didn't realize how mellow his voice was, though saying the words "calm," "quiet," and "peace" automatically sound calming. I hope he narrates a Disney movie soon.

If the show continues to be strong with character driven development per episode, I suggest keeping Meredith bed ridden. She's already forgiven her father and has strengthened her relationship with her sister. Let's evolve the rest of the one-dimensional characters while she stays in bed.

Jane After Dark: Grey's Anatomy season five; Private Practice season two

by Jane Boursaw, posted Oct 4th 2009 10:00AM
Grey's Anatomy, season five dvdWith Grey's Anatomy and its spin-off Private Practice starting new seasons, I decided to refresh my brain with the previous seasons of these two ABC shows. So this week's Jane After Dark was all about the dreamy doctors.

I've been on board with Private Practice since the beginning, and was especially interested to see what happened with Violet and her baby in the season three premiere. Happy ending there, thank goodness! And while Grey's Anatomy has certainly ebbed and flowed since it began in 2005, I've stuck with it because I've grown to love the dysfunctional characters with all their baggage. It makes my life seem just that much better.

Grey's Anatomy, Season Five

There were parts of this season that drove me a little nuts, like Izzie having "mind-boggling sex" with dead Denny. That whole storyline made me want to jump off a roof, but there were plenty of highlights to the season, as well...

Is Derek Shepherd a supporting character?

by Michael Pascua, posted Jun 19th 2009 3:07PM
Patrick Dempsey as Derek Shepherd on Grey's AnatomyWith the Emmy announcements inching closer, one for your consideration caught me off guard. Patrick Dempsey is not a Lead Actor this year. He is throwing his name into the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category. Why is Patrick Dempsey announcing that he is a supporting character? I think several storylines this season of Grey's Anatomy (especially his breakdown and his proposal) are lead actor moments.

Is Patrick Dempsey scared of his competitors? Probably. ABC wants to get an Emmy in any form or fashion and they are probably clearing the path for Lost or Brothers and Sisters to make a stab for lead.

Delving deeper into the Charlie Pace mystery

by Kona Gallagher, posted Jun 6th 2009 12:03PM
lost charlie pace

The Internet has been all atwitter since Dominic Monaghan, aka the dearly departed Charlie Pace on Lost, showed up in a new ABC promo. In it, Dominic/Charlie is playing Foosball with current and upcoming ABC stars, including Patrick Dempsey from Grey's Anatomy and Courteney Cox from the upcoming Cougar Town. Jason Hughes theorizes that this could very well mean that Monaghan is returning to Lost next season.

This of course, is not out of the realm of possibility: death, after all, rarely means goodbye on Lost. On the other hand, it's not unheard of for stars who have exited the island to find themselves on other ABC shows (see: Harold Perrineau on The Unusuals). So which is it? Well, that crafty cad Michael Ausiello thinks he has the answer. See what spoilers ABC execs shared with him after the jump.

Grey's Anatomy: Now or Never (season finale)

T.R. Knight and Chandra Wilson
(S05E24) "If you're not scared, you're not paying attention." - Bailey

I took a few hours off in between last night's two hour Grey's Anatomy finale. I knew it was going to be two posts since it was two episodes and so I sat and watched the first one, wrote it up, grabbed a few hours of sleep, and woke up trying to figure just what was going to happen in this episode before I watched it. Everything was so nicely set up (the first hour really could have served as a finale too) and once again, Grey's Anatomy caught us all off guard with what's arguably its biggest cliffhanger yet.
