The Key to the City on 'American Chopper' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Dec 28th 2010 4:20AM
The Key to the City on 'American Chopper'The tradition of giving a guest the "key to the city" dates back to medieval times -- when cities were surrounded by walls, and you needed an actual key for entry. On the new 'American Chopper: Senior vs. Junior' (Mon., 9PM ET on Discovery), Paul Teutul, Jr., got the key to the city of Asheville, North Carolina. And the reason that he received this honor? It was because he built a totally rad motorcycle, apparently.

These days, getting the key to a city is totally symbolic. And anyway, the one key that Junior really needs ... is the key to his father's heart. (Or is that too profound?)

After all, 'Senior vs. Junior' is about the feud between Junior and his dad, Paul, Sr. -- the father has kicked his son out of the family bike-making business. So even though Junior got cheers from the crowd of 400,000 Carolinians, he still must be imagining the disapproving specter of his dear old dad looming behind him.

The Cancelled 'American Chopper'... is Ready to Film Another Season?!?

by Danny Gallagher, posted Apr 7th 2010 8:00PM
The Teutels from Once again, people, I'm forced to ask the question: what the hell is going on here?!? Did up become down? Has black become white? Did Ken Jennings lose his 'Jeopardy!' winning streak record to Karl Pilkington?

TLC canceled the long-running bike building reality show 'American Chopper' back in February, but new reports have surfaced they are bringing the show back, or at least part of its principal cast, for another run.

Has anyone at TLC, which once stood for "The Learning Channel," learned about the concept of cognitive dissonance? Maybe they could learn about it by watching some of their pre-'Jon and Kate' programming, back when you could actually learn something from watching TLC other than how to exploit extremely fertile women for money and/or fame.

TLC Puts the Brakes on 'American Chopper'

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 8th 2010 6:29PM
The family reality show that would never say die just died.

TLC has officially canceled the long-running 'American Chopper', which has been on the air since 2003 when it first found footing on the Discovery Channel. The show's final episode will air on Thursday.

Say what you will about the series running past its prime, but both the show and its subjects have been through a hell of a lot of mayhem. The shop played host to a ton of thick, rich drama, capping with the final season in which Paul Jr. leaves the shop on very heated terms and eventually led to Paul Sr. suing his son for a $1 million in back company stock.

If you're curious to know how things will wrap up, check out a preview of the final episode at Turbo.Discovery.com.

'American Chopper' Canceled

by Michael D. Ayers, posted Feb 8th 2010 12:15PM
Apparently, 'American Chopper' has been, well, chopped.

TMZ is reporting that TLC's popular motorcycle reality series has been canceled, and will air its final episode this Thursday, Feb. 11.

"The Teutuls will always be a part of the Discovery family and we congratulate them on a tremendously successful series run," a rep for the network said.

The show debuted on the Discovery Channel back in 2003, and lasted an impressive six seasons following the exploits of the Orange County Choppers' bike shop; at the end of 2007, it moved to Discovery's sister network, TLC. It also spawned two 'American Chopper' video games and a short-lived parody on Comedy Central.
