New TV on DVD releases this week
Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.I like Star Trek, but for some odd reason I've never bought any of the various DVD sets (and there have been many, especially for TOS). I usually borrow them from a friend of mine if I want to watch them, or watch them on television. I won't buy these "Best Of" sets, but it does remind me that I have to buy a set of TOS for my very own.
- CSI - Season 1 (Widescreen/Blu-ray)
- Curious George - Curious George Goes Green
- The Dana Carvey Show - Complete Series
- The Jeff Foxworthy Show - Season 2
Stump the King: The Alvin Show - VIDEO
I got a great letter this week from a fan named Harold Dickinson.
He writes, "I'm trying to get the name of a cartoon from the late 50's or early 60's. It had two characters who -- at least in my memory -- remind me of Penn and Teller. The one character was tall and bombastic, the other was shorter and never spoke- although he would whisper to the other character. I believe the smaller character was named Leonardo- but I wouldn't swear to it."

WGA Award nominees announced

The Golden Globes weren't the only award nominations announced today. The Writers Guild of America announced the nominees for their awards too. The festivities are on February 9 in LA and NY. I wonder if the writers will show up to get their awards if the strike is still going on?

Get ready for a Penn & Teller onslaught
Not only is magician Penn Jillette doing his radio show from New York City Halloween week, but he and his silent partner Teller are going to be making a ton of appearances on Halloween and the following week.
The magic duo will be on The View on October 31 (oh, if they could make one or two or the hosts disappear, oh please, oh please, oh please...). Then, on November 1, they'll be on the local New York morning show on the CW and, later that night, The Colbert Report. Then, we'll see them on the CNN Headline News show Glenn Beck. Which seems like an, um, interesting choice.
Penn & Teller's Showtime show Bullshit has been renewed for a fifth season.
