ABC officially picks up Grey's Anatomy spin-off
by Joel Keller, posted May 14th 2007 1:03PM
In the "big surprise" department, we have this item: ABC has made the shocking move to pick up the Kate Walsh-fronted spin-off of Grey's Anatomy, tentatively titled Private Practice.According to the New York Post, the show may get a new title (ya think?), and the network was very happy with the ratings for the Grey's episode that introduced the spin-off, despite the mixed reaction from the show's fans.
Of course, our snideness comes from the fact that we already knew the show was going to be picked up, for many reasons. Heck, even Walsh knew, as she got a "you're in pretty good shape" from ABC Entertainment president Steve McPherson last week on the Ellen show.
David Duchovny returns to television
by Julia Ward, posted Nov 10th 2006 1:38PM
Mulder is returning to television for a pair of shows in development with Showtime. The first project, an untitled drama about a novelist with a kid, a drug problem and sex addiction, has not been officially picked up as a series. Duchovny will, however, be starring in and executive producing the pilot for the network. The second series, a comedy entitled Yoga Man, will be written by Duchovny and Bart Freundlich. Yoga Man is being described as Shampoo, but in a yoga studio.
More Studio 60 episodes ordered
by Julia Ward, posted Nov 9th 2006 3:54PM
Good news for Studio 60 fans. Despite persistent rumors of the show's forthcoming cancellation by NBC, a "back nine" has been ordered - meaning that nine more episodes will be produced to finish out the season. Whether the show makes it past a first season remains to be seen, but it will be given a shot to build an audience. While I appreciate a literate show and Mr. Sorkin's banterfests, I think a handful of problems persist over at Studio 60. Starting with, does anyone really care about the Harriet-Matt relationship? I'd much rather see "Josh Lyman" and "the guy from Friends" at the core of the show. They've got better chemistry, and the show is much more fun when they're on the screen together.
