But "Madness" is such a vague term that it carries interesting connotations. To whom is such madness really referring? It could be about the basketball itself: There's enough pressure, buzzer-beaters, and "pounding the ball inside" to keep even the girlfriend of a fan interested for awhile. But, relatively speaking, that kind of Madness is rare when most of the tournament is spent watching Awesome University pummel Sh*tty State.
If it's not all about the basketball, then the madness might define the way our culture reacts as soon as March rolls around. We make up words like "bracketology." We hang on Gus Johnson's every word as if he were FDR delivering a Fireside Chat. We may or may not position a urine jug next to the couch so we don't have to miss that new Papa John's commercial offering some ridiculous special, like "Meat Madness," that we initially scoff at, but after the 14th time seeing it we order 12 of those bad boys and wish we had the foresight to have a poo jug, too.
Whatever the madness might be about, the tournament is the only TV sports spectacle that rivals the Super Bowl in terms of sheer scope and magnitude. Read on for some of my humbly absurd TV tournament predictions.
Thursday is the season 8 finale of 'Project Runway' and Gretchen, Mondo, and Andy will show their spring collections for Fashion Week. All three designers have been winners in previous challenges, but all three have made missteps along the way. While Andy and Mondo look like they are gaining steam, Gretchen started high and has gradually plummeted.
We analyzed the designers' best and worst looks, then made our predictions on who will the 'Project Runway' season 8 winner.
But for soap fans, the real fun will be seeing who's winning this year's top prizes. Here, then, are our predictions ... Please feel free to share your views in the comments and make your predictions, too!
Outstanding Drama Series
'The Bold and the Beautiful'
'The Young and the Restless'
'General Hospital' ✔
'All My Children'
Last year, 'B&B' was the surprise winner in this category, landing the top Daytime Emmy after 22 years on the air.
I'd write more, but my flowers are boiling over.
After one week of competition, it's easy to see which celebrities on Dancing with the Stars have the potential to go all the way and which will barely squeak past week two. It wasn't a shock having either Macy Gray or Ashley Hamilton eliminated week one.
If this season's contestants follow the trend of celebrities before them, one can figure out how they will fare this year. There are some small wrenches like new dances (Bolero, Lambada, Charleston, and Two Step) and the return of the face-off. Combining previous contestants' performances with this year's first week, I've compiled where everyone stands.
It's finally that time when Tyra has three contestants left on America's Next Top Model. After weeding out the competition, we are left with Allison, Aminat, and Teyona. Like every finale, the girls will have to complete a Cover Girl commercial/photoshoot, and then the final two will have a runway walk-off.
Who has the upper hand? None of them. Each contestant is missing a piece of the model puzzle. None of the winners ever had every aspect down, bringing it all down to the decision of Tyra Banks. Let's take a look at some of the advantages, disadvantages, and outlying factors that will affect the girls in the final episode.
Now there's two words you hardly ever see if the same sentence: "psychics" and "reality."
But get ready for a new reality show that will attempt to find that most gifted psychic in America! The show, Gifted, is going to be produced by Friends co-creator/producer Marta Kauffman. Each psychic will go through a series of tests - mind reading, Tarot card reading, other things that psychics do well - and the winner will win...well, I have no idea what they'll win. What should the winner of an American Idol for psychics win? A million dollar contract to do...what exactly? There will be a panel of expert (?) judges and the contestants will probably all live together in a house, a la Big Brother. Or, in this case, The Surreal Life.
Of course, I don't really understand the whole concept. If these people are truly psychic, shouldn't they know ahead of time whether they're going to win or not?

Preview: Libby lends Hurley support when he begins to think the island is having a strange effect on him; the prisoner provides new information about the hatch, shaking Locke's sense of purpose. (via Time Warner channel guide)
Title first -- Dave? I'm guessing that this is a friend of Hurley's, possibly the cause, in some way, for his time at the institute. Maybe Dave's an invisible friend? We've all seen the previews of Hurley getting angry at Sawyer for calling him crazy for asking if everyone else is seeing what he has. Personally I think this will get neatly wrapped up by the end of the episode. I'm sure we'll find out some more of Hurley's back story and maybe he'll even admit to Libby his institutionalization, but this will only serve to drive these two closer. What really intrigues me is the second half of this teaser. What could we find out about the hatch from the-prisoner-formerly-known-as-Henry-Gale that would shake Locke so badly? He's been through a lot of mind screws lately, but Locke still seems pretty adamant about his beliefs. I am also really torn about how the Others keep referencing to a "him" or alpha male. On one hand, it's good to know that there is a guiding force behind the Others and that will give us a sense of "accomplishment" when we actually do figure out who "he" is. On the other hand, I kind of liked the facelessness of the Others. There's something inherently frightening about the unknown and random.
These are just a couple of thoughts I had after I saw the various previews for tonight's episode. Let's hear some of yours.
