Patricia Wettig returns to Prison Break
by Brett Love, posted Jan 16th 2007 3:02PM
You might remember way back in July when Keith reported that Patricia Wettig had left Prison Break to take a gig on Brothers & Sisters. With that show having a pretty good run of it this season, it didn't look like we'd be seeing the evil lady prez again. That left Prison Break in a tough spot, because it's kind of an important character. Now comes word that she will be back, but in what capacity remains unclear. According to TV Guide, Wettig will be doing a couple of voice overs for the show. I'm guessing that's leading to a shot from behind her office chair where we can see a hand holding a phone and some blond hair as she directs her henchmen. However, there is also mention of her first scene with Wentworth Miller which leaves room for speculation that we will actually "see" President Reynolds again.
Patricia Wettig leaving Prison Break

If you watch Prison Break, you may recall that the season finale featured the President of the U.S. dying, leaving the Vice President to take office shortly afterward. Now picture season two without the new President making an appearance. That's going to be the case unless Patricia Wettig's character is recast or the writers think of a very clever way to write out her character or hide her from having to be seen at all. The actress has decided not to return next season, instead opting to join the cast of the new series Brothers and Sisters. To me the only thing that seems to make sense is a recast, but I just hate recastings, especially when such a paramount character on the show is being replaced. What are your thoughts on the matter?
