Don't count on Fox giving up Glee for Obama
by Allison Waldman, posted Sep 4th 2009 10:08AM
The only way Fox will air President Obama's prime time address next Wednesday will be if he joins the glee club. No, seriously, if the Prez could sing or dance with the kids at McKinley High School on the new Fox series, Glee, he'd have a better chance of getting air time than he does as the Commander in Chief. Fox is not expected to show President Obama's address to Congress. Fox has already shown an unwillingness to interrupt prime time for President Obama. Back in March, the network chose not to air a press conference. To be honest, Obama has been on TV a lot more than President George W. Bush. All that prime time real estate is expensive, and the networks have squawked about how often Obama has requested the air time.
Craig Ferguson is "mystified" by NBC's Leno move - TCA Report
by Joel Keller, posted Aug 3rd 2009 2:40PM
Just got back from a teeny tiny conference room off the main ballroom here at the Langham. CBS decided that they'd have an "informal press conference" with Craig Ferguson in this itty bitty space, even though a fair number of the critics wanted to hear the funny and thoughtful late night host speak. The SRO crowd wasn't disappointed. The most newsworthy bit that came out of the proceedings? The fact that the Late Late Show host is "mystified" at the fact that NBC is putting Leno at 10:00. Asked if a show like his could play at that hour, he said, "I don't think people are ready for cussing puppets at 10:00."
More funny quotes from Ferguson's press conference are after the jump.
Susan Boyle is the most powerful person in the world
by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 21st 2009 6:02PM
How powerful? NBC originally refused to run President Obama's prime time press conference about his health care plan tomorrow night at 9PM because it would interfere with the highly-rated America's Got Talent and the show's interview with Britain singing sensation Susan Boyle. So what did the White House do?They moved Obama's speech.
ABC Family runs Ugly Betty marathon on New Year's Eve
by Julia Ward, posted Dec 24th 2006 5:31PM
Timed to coincide with the debut of the Be Ugly '07 marketing campaign, ABC Family is airing an all-day Ugly Betty marathon on New Year's Eve. Ironically, this announcement was made to the press by Betty's less-than-ugly producer Salma Hayek and her friends - Salma Hayek's left breast and Salma Hayek's right breast. If you've been watching The Office on Thursday nights, this is the perfect opportunity to catch up on the adventures of the Suarez clan. The show, one of the few break-out hits of 2006, is a joyful concoction - part telenovela, part comedy. With its strong female performances and pop aesthetic, it's Almodovar for the boob tube. Between this and the Arrested Development, Reno 911, Christmas Story and Twilight Zone marathons, you may not have to talk to your own family once this holiday season.
