'Pretty Little Liars' Season 2 Premiere: The Most Scandalous Moments

by Jean Bentley, posted Jun 14th 2011 9:00PM
Pretty Little Liars season 2 premiereI didn't know how much I missed the nonstop drama of the 'Pretty Little Liars' ladies -- seriously, even their secrets have secrets -- until I watched Tuesday's Season 2 premiere.

After you get past the fact that there are way too many beautiful people for such a small Pennsylvania town, the blackmail/backstabbing/clandestine teacher-student affairs are ultra-addicting. Perfect for my spartan summer TV-watching schedule.

After the jump, here are my favorite ridiculous moments from the Season 2 premiere.

Five ABC Family Girls Who Could Be Your New BFF

by Jean Bentley, posted Jun 14th 2011 2:15PM
Nine Lives of Chloe KingIt's doubtful a mysterious stranger is blackmailing you and framing you for your best friend's murder, but isn't it strange that somehow it feels like the 'Pretty Little Liars' girls could be your real-life BFFs?

The same goes for the title character on 'The Nine Lives of Chloe King.' So you're not the most powerful member of a feline-like ancient race with nine lives -- you get the same butterflies when a cute guy flirts with you at your after-school job.

ABC Family has always done a good job at creating shows around likable teenage girls who you can identify with even if your life is nothing like theirs. In honor of tonight's 'PLL' return (8PM ET) and 'Nine Lives' premiere (9PM), I've rounded up five of ABC Family's most relatable characters -- ones I'd totally hang out with if I could (and they weren't fictional).

by Jean Bentley, posted Apr 7th 2011 6:00PM
Bob's BurgersFox has ordered a new batch of 'Bob's Burgers.'

(Listen, people, the pun writes itself.)

The network announced today that its freshman animated series will return for a second season in the fall.

"'Bob's Burgers' has proved to be a perfect neighbor to our slate of fan-favorite animated families this year," said Fox president of entertainment Kevin Reilly. "The series has found its own really unique, irreverent voice and is doing consistent business for us on Sundays, so we're excited to serve up another season to the fans."

The show follows a family-run burger joint.

In other TV news ...

'House' star Robert Sean Leonard says this could be his last season on the Fox show. The star's contract is up at the end of the current season, and he might want to spend his time on Broadway and with his family instead. [TV Line]

'My So-Called Life' will start airing on the Sundance Channel on April 25. Could Sundance, which also airs 'The Comeback,' become the new home to beloved-but-canceled series? [THR]

'Pretty Little Liars' Hunk Tyler Blackburn on Playing Brooding Teens and Hitting the Big Screen

by Annette Bourdeau, posted Mar 29th 2011 4:30PM
Tyler BlackburnAlready experiencing 'Pretty Little Liars' withdrawal? Don't worry -- we've got a nice dose of Tyler Blackburn here to get you over the hump. Blackburn, of course, plays brooding, long-haired hunk Caleb on the popular teen soap.

Blackburn first gained attention in his role as the moody Ian on 'Days of Our Lives' -- in fact, the easygoing California boy might be in danger of being typecast as the brooding teen. Most recently, he's been doing the film-fest circuit to support his first leading role in a feature film, playing -- you guessed it -- a troubled young man. The indie flick is called 'Peach Plum Pear,' and co-stars Mackenzie Phillips and up-and-comers Alex Beh ('Sugar') and Alanna Masterson ('The Young and the Restless').

We caught up with Blackburn during his stop at Toronto's Female Eye Film Festival to get the scoop on 'Peach Plum Pear,' what it's like working with TV pros like Laura Leighton ('Melrose Place') and how he reacts when giggling girls gush over him on the streets.

A Mystery Man Saves Spencer's Life on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Mar 22nd 2011 7:05AM
'Pretty Little Liars': A Man Saves Spencer's LifeIn the season finale of 'Pretty Little Liars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC Family), some mysteries were solved, but a few more began -- sure to be developed when the series starts up again in June.

Ian hunted down Spencer for a face-off in a church's bell tower. Spencer called Emily but dropped the phone before she could talk. Emily and the rest of the gang heard snippets of the fight.

[Spoiler Alert]

Ian threatened to kill Spencer and make it look like a suicide from the guilt over Ali's death. But it was Ian who killed Alison.

Just as Spencer hung from the bell tower, about to meet an untimely demise, a mystery man appeared from the shadows, a hoodie hiding his face. The enigmatic "A" perhaps? He pushed Ian over the railing. Spencer was left shaken but alive.

Shay Mitchell Talks the 'Pretty Little Liars' Finale, Road Rage and Running in Heels

by Jean Bentley, posted Mar 21st 2011 2:30PM
Shay Mitchell, 'Pretty Little Liars'None of the stars of 'Pretty Little Liars' are very good at sharing -- well, at least when it comes to plot details. We're not saying they're lying like their on-screen alter-egos, but they've certainly mastered the art of the tease.

Shay Mitchell, who plays newly out lesbian Emily on the hit ABC Family series, called up TV Squad last week to chat about the show. Try as we might, the actress wouldn't spill any deets about tonight's first season finale (Monday, March 21, 8PM ET). And we tried really hard.

"I would love to tell you that, but I really want the fans to go into it without knowing too much," Mitchell explained. OK, we can respect that.

Luckily, she did tell us all about what it's like playing Emily, her secret dark side and the cast's reaction to the "crazy" season finale.

One clue she did let slip: There will be more clues. "They find a clue that reveals the huge secret that will change things forever," Mitchell said. Any guesses? Keep reading to hear more spoiler-free goodness ...

A Storage Locker Reveals a Clue From the Girls' Past on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 14th 2011 10:58PM
'Pretty Little Liars' - 'Monster in the End'How much does it cost a month to rent an average-size storage unit? Why is it that on TV and in the movies, we always see someone get a key to a storage unit, only to find it spotlessly clean save for one cryptic object? Who would pay that monthly fee for a Tweety lunchbox? Well, 'Pretty Little Liars' (Mon, 8PM ET on ABC Family) isn't going to give that answer right away.

The lunchbox proved as bizarrely empty as the storage unit, housing only a thumb drive, but the contents of the drive sent the girls into a tizzy of emotion and confusion.

It showed video footage of them from years prior. And it exonerated Allison, maybe, from having filmed the videos as she's seen in most of them. And the girls felt the video ruled out Toby as a suspect as well. So who filmed it? Do you think we'll get any answers in next week's finale?

'Pretty Little Liars' Stars Tease Next Week's Season Finale

by Breia Brissey, posted Mar 14th 2011 1:00PM
Pretty Little Liars, Shay Mitchell, Ashley Benson, Troian BellisarioAs it turns out, the stars of 'Pretty Little Liars' really can keep a secret.

TV Squad caught up with Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, and Shay Mitchell at ABC Family's upfront event last week, and all three ladies were frustratingly silent on what fans can expect during next week's season finale.

"All of the girls have dealt with so much the entire season, but nothing will compare to what they have to deal with in the season finale," said Mitchell, who plays Emily. "And I am talking slow because I totally could tell you everything. But that would ruin it, and I'm not going to. So I have to be very careful in what I say. But it's going to end with a bang."

Fortunately, after a little bit of coaxing the ladies finally dropped a few hints about what will take place during 'For Whom The Bell Tolls.' Benson, who stars as Hanna, specifically said the last five minutes are a must see. "All four girls are put at high risks. We're pushed to our limits. We go through this huge obstacle course," she said. "I really can't tell you too much, but the last five minutes are unreal. You get very close to knowing who 'A' is. Insane things happen!"

Hanna Gets Revenge on Jenna For Having Caleb Spy on Her on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Mar 8th 2011 1:22AM
'Pretty Little Liars' - 'Someone to Watch Over Me'Oh you knew it was too good to be true, right? This is 'Pretty Little Liars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC Family) after all. Hanna can at least remember the good times -- well, time -- she had with Caleb. Before the shroud of secrecy was thrown wide by an owl necklace.

Can you imagine if you really had to worry about all this duplicity along with all the normal high school anxieties that go with dating? It's a wonder these kids aren't having nervous breakdowns.

Hanna did take matters into her own hands. When she encountered Jenna in the bathroom, she decided to let her know just how she felt about Jenna having Caleb spy on her. Sure, it was a bit of a cheap shot to slap the blind girl, but it's not like Jenna didn't have it coming.

Hanna Decides to Go All the Way With Caleb on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 28th 2011 11:20PM
'Pretty Little Liars' - 'A Person of Interest'After she jumped in the shower with him in a previous episode, it was almost a foregone conclusion that Hanna would wind up in bed with Caleb on 'Pretty Little Liars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC Family). But, after Hanna's mother threw Caleb out of his house, you'll have to replace "bed" with "tent."

After weeks of longing glances, they finally gave into their carnal urges. Who could blame them when Pink's "Glitter in the Air" was playing? And because responsibility is important, not before Hanna asked, "Do you have ... ?"

There was no need to finish the question. Caleb was prepared for Hanna ... or anyone, really. But, if you stuck around for the previews of next week's episode, all may not be as it seems. Could Caleb have an ulterior motive?

'Pretty Little Liars' - 'The Badass Seed'Hanna may have finally found someplace "A" doesn't have access to. On the latest 'Pretty Little Liars' (Mon., 8PM on ABC Family), Caleb is staying in her basement. When he thinks the coast is clear he startes to take a shower.

But when Hanna's mother pops back in momentarily, Hanna has to think fast, so she says she's in the shower.

"Is my phone in your bathroom?" Mom asks moments before walking into the bathroom -- Hanna had just come in herself to get makeup. Without a moment's hesitation, and just in time, Hanna jumped into the shower to cement her lie.

Emily Is Surprised to Discover Paige Is Gay and Interested in Her on 'Pretty Little Liars' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Feb 15th 2011 12:07AM
Paige kisses Emily on 'Pretty Little Liars' - 'The New Normal'A kiss is still the perfect way to stop a rant. The latest piece of evidence, and we all know we tune in to 'Pretty Little Liars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC Family) for its total realism, came this week. After being on the receiving edge of Paige's father's rage through much of the episode, Emily got a surprise moment of affection.

Paige's dad was convinced that Emily was getting special treatment on the swim team because she's gay, which sent him into one tirade or another. Actually, he was pretty horrible on more levels than just that one, but that's the topic that impacted Emily the most specifically.

And, apparently, Paige as well.
