Tim Gunn Reveals Why He's Not Part of 'Project Runway All Stars'

by Crystal Bell, posted Dec 7th 2011 1:30PM
tim gunn project runway all starsWhen the cast of 'Project Runway All Stars' was announced, a few big names were surprisingly missing -- host and judge Heidi Klum, mentor Tim Gunn, and judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia. Instead, supermodel Angela Lindvall will host the competition and Marie Claire editor-in-chief Joanna Coles will play mentor.

Fans have been wondering how 'Project Runway' can make it work without its big names. But now, we finally have an answer as to why Tim and co. didn't sign on for 'All Stars.'

"'Project Runway All Stars' overlapped with the taping of 'Project Runway' Season 9," Gunn told AOL TV, while promoting his partnership with Weight Watchers. "Someone actually thought that Heidi, Nina, Michael and I could run back-and-forth, from one place to the next, and I said, 'Look, I'm not speaking for Heidi or Michael or Nina because I can't. But I can speak for me. When I'm doing 'Project Runway,' I feel as though I'm overseeing an emergency room and that anything can happen. You want me to oversee two emergency rooms? That would put both shows at risk. That cannot happen."

Heidi KlumHeidi Klum is passionate about fashion. And she's passionate about finding the next great fashion designer. So passionate, in fact, that she's willing to be photographed nude to promote the upcoming Season 9 of her fashion reality series 'Project Runway.'

According to 'The Hollywood Reporter' Klum chose to strip off during a recent photo shoot for Lifetime's new promotional campaign. However, as she has yet to sign off on a final image from the shoot, it's unclear when (if?) pictures will be released.

Klum's desicion to bare all for her show was announced by Lifetime's President and General Manager Nancy Dubuc, who said that it's part of the network's move to embrace the contemporary woman.

In a break with with some past programming and attitudes, Lifetime is now seeking to promote female characters who are brazen, strong, confident and sexy.
