William Shatner Plays Juliet's Dad on 'Psych' (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Dec 1st 2011 8:10AM
William Shatner on 'Pysch'It was all about Juliet on this week's 'Psych' (Wed., 10PM ET on USA). Her 30th birthday was fast approaching and so the guys decided to broker a peace between Jules and her estranged dad, Frank. Who was played by William Shatner.

Frank's a con-man who is now trying to redeem himself after a lifetime of poor fathering. On a stake-out the cops can't risk calling in the SWAT team because civilians could get hurt, so what to do? Luckily Frank leaps into action: "I ... have an idea," he offers.

Frank's idea turns out to be pure genius and the bad guys are delivered right to the door of the police department. As Jules thanks him, Frank smiles and says "It was the least I could do."

EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: William Shatner Shakes Up the Team on 'Psych'

by Maureen Ryan, posted Nov 16th 2011 3:30PM
When I heard that William Shatner was going to be guesting on 'Psych,' I did a little nerd jig of joy, and not just because I'm a 'Star Trek' nut. 'Psych' is one of my turn-my-brain-off, escapist pleasures, and seeing the Shat bring his inimitable brand of ham to the proceedings sounded like an excellent idea.

The episode itself, which airs Nov. 30 and has Shatner playing Jules' con-man father, is a solidly enjoyable outing. But one question sprang to mind as I watched it: Why aren't there any 'Star Trek' shout-outs in the episode? On a show as pop-culture obsessed as 'Pysch,' not even one Tribble or red-shirt reference? What gives?

Here's what the show's creator and executive producer, Steve Franks, had to say when I asked him about that.

Shawn Faces a Lie Detector on 'Psych' Season Premiere (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Oct 13th 2011 3:30AM
'Psych' - 'Shawn Rescues Darth Vader''Psych' (Wed., 10PM ET on USA) returned with more cases and more mistrust from Lassiter, who has just been certain that Shawn doesn't have psychic abilities. In a move that may have just been a long time coming, or a reaction to his discovering that Shawn and Juliet are now a couple.

Shawn did everything he could to try and avoid answering Lassiter's questions, but finally he was backed into a corner as no one was stopping what was happening. As much as they appreciated him, probably everyone wanted to see how this one was going to play out.

"Are you, Shawn Spencer, psychic?" Lassiter asked.

The 'Psych' Guys Present: 14 Signs You're Living With a Criminal

by AOL TV Staff, posted Oct 11th 2011 12:30PM
'Psych' stars James Roday & Dule HillThere's no denying it: The 'Psych' guys give good interview. But heading into their sixth season of fighting crime with their keen powers of observation, we figured they might want to mix things up a bit.

In the Season 6 premiere (Wed., Oct. 12, 10PM ET on USA), titled 'Shawn Rescues Darth Vader,' Shawn and Gus are hired to investigate how a body ended up in the home of a British diplomat, played by guest star Malcolm McDowell ('Caprica' alum Polly Walker also guest stars). We also find Shawn under the microscope with the Santa Barbara Police Department -- they're finally starting to suspect that he may not actually be psychic. [Cue the dramatic music here.]

Also this season, a vampire spoof episode guest starring original 'Buffy' Kristy Swanson, and plenty more guest stars to come including Danny Glover, Jason Priestley, Molly Ringwald, William Shatner, New Kids on the Block alum Joey McIntyre and the return of Cary Elwes as art thief Pierre Despereaux.

Summertime Is Ask Mo Time: Talking 'Game of Thrones,' 'Psych,' 'True Blood' and More

by Maureen Ryan, posted Jul 19th 2011 2:00PM
Thanks to everyone who posted or emailed TV questions! Let's get right to them:

Matthew: I have a little dilemma. I know you weren't the biggest fan of the first couple episodes of 'Game of Thrones,' but from the minute the pilot began, I have been in love with every second of the epic series. Anyway, my love for all things 'GoT' has made me insanely hungry for next season.

My question is, as someone who has never read the books, should I dive into the novels to satisfy my craving, even though I will effectively be spoiled for the rest of the run? Or should I stay with just the series until it ends? A friend already spoiled [an event] at the end of episode 9, and I couldn't help but feel cheated. What do you think?

Mo says: Hey Matthew, I was iffy on the first few episodes of 'GoT,' but I had become a big fan by the time the first season drew to a close. From about the middle of the season onward, I think the show generally went from strength to strength and the last few episodes of season 1 were absolutely terrific (you can find my weekly 'GoT' recaps here). Like you, I'm very eager for 'GoT' to return, but alas, we have almost a year to wait before that happens.

My gut-instinct response regarding the book question is...

The Magic of Hollywood: Where Do Your Favorite Shows Really Take Place?

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jun 30th 2011 3:00PM
'Mad Men' is nowhere near Madison Avenue...Hollywood is a magical place, but probably the most amazing thing about the entertainment industry is that any city can be faked.

Haven't you ever watched a show like 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' and wondered where in Philly Paddy's Pub is? Well, don't go searching, because in real life, it's on the Fox lot in Los Angeles, California.

And just a few doors down from the 'Sunny' set is 'How I Met Your Mother,' where the gang gets in trouble on the streets of New York City ... that are actually on a sound stage in L.A.

But there are shows where there's no way the magic of the city can be faked ... right? 'Mad Men' is so completely New York in the 1960s (shoots in L.A., in the present day) and the rainy Seattle backdrop of 'The Killing' had to be 100% authentic (actually it was Vancouver's raindrops you saw all season).

We thought we'd take a look at a few of the other best tricked cities on TV ...
