Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares: The Runaway Girl (season premiere) - open thread
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 3rd 2009 3:30PM
TV viewers who only know Kitchen Nightmares from the FOX version might be surprised by the original UK version. Sure, he gets ticked off and swears in the UK version (and some of the swears are unbleeped!), but it's also a quieter, more serious show than the FOX version. Ramsay narrates himself, unlike the FOX version which uses a Hell's Kitchen-like narrator and approach that is more loud and abrasive.Last night was the season premiereon BBC America. What did you think?

New TV on DVD releases this week
by Bob Sassone, posted Aug 31st 2009 6:01PM
Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.I find myself buying more old shows on DVD than I do new shows. I have no interest at all in buying C.S.I., Desperate Housewives, Two and a Half Men, Brothers & Sisters, or Supernatural, and there are no classic shows being released so it looks like I'm going to save money (again) this week.
Heroes? I like the show well enough, but I just can't imagine I'm going to want to watch this season again. Maybe I'll get it at some point, just so I can make sure I have the whole series, but who knows.

Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.I should be happy when there are a ton of new DVDs but nothing I want to buy, because I'll save some money. But this has been happening a lot lately. I mean, there must be something being released soon that I must own. I might have to get the Return of the Man From U.N.C.L.E. movie if it wasn't included in the complete series set I have.
Kinda amazed that My Two Dads has been released on DVD, though I shouldn't be because it seems like a lot of shows are making their way to DVD now. It makes me hopeful that other sitcoms from that era will be released too.
- 7th Heaven - Season 8
- Chowder - Vol. 2
- Doctor Who - The Androids of Tara, Key To Time, The Armageddon Factor, The Power of Kroll, The Pirate Planet, The Stones of Blood, and The Ribos Operation (all Special Editions)
All Kona wants for Festivus
by Kona Gallagher, posted Dec 19th 2008 7:29PM
Since I'm still new enough at TV Squad not to exist on the "Meet the TV Squad" page, this is my first Festivus. It's nice to be able to dig deep into my heart for all of my TV wishes in hopes that some internet fairy will grant them and make the television landscape just a little bit more awesome... for me, at least. Without further ado, here is what I want for Festivus:
- Christina Hendricks and the rest of the Mad Men cast should guest-star on more shows. Ever since I started watching Mad Men, I've noticed Hendricks popping up places. She's on an episode of Without a Trace here, an old episode of Cold Case there... I love me some Joan Holloway and Mad Men isn't returning soon enough. I loved seeing Jon Hamm host SNL, and I'm super excited about his upcoming guest stint on 30 Rock. More please!

Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.Wow, this is quite a list of shows this week, though I think the only one I'm definitely going to buy is the second season 30 Rock set. Maybe the Three Stooges set too. Those are good sets to have. I'm tempted to buy the complete series set for Speed Racer because I remember it from my childhood, but I have a big suspicion that my memories would be better than the show itself.
