ABC Family's Greek -- is it really that easy to get a drink?

ABC Family's Greek - Dobbler's
One of my guilty pleasures this summer has been catching ABC Family's Greek on Monday nights. It has its flaws for sure (like last night's episode, which was downright silly), but it's laid-back fun. However, one thing that I can't get over is how easy these college kids, most who are not even in their Senior year yet, are able to so easily enter a bar and drink up to the point of total drunkenness.

Did Rachael Ray bad mouth Oprah?

by Adam Finley, posted Jan 24th 2007 1:21PM

rachael rayTMZ reports that back in 2005, a drunken Rachael Ray made some ugly remarks about Oprah, the woman who helped launch Ray into the spotlight. Then again, Ray may have done no such thing. That's pretty much the gist of the article. Careful readers will note that none of the sources are named, so I guess that's why it's called celebrity gossip. If Ray did indeed get drunk at an event in Century City and made racist remarks about the portrait of Oprah from Beloved that hangs in Harpo Studios, or referred to Angelina Jolie as a "backdoor c**t," it was muttered before people started filming embarrassing celeb moments with their camera phones. Now all we have is speculation about what someone may or may not have said two years ago.

If it makes Ray feel any better, I once called my little brother a "stupid doody idiot head" when I was five. I've always regretted saying it, and I hope no one was taping me, because I'd really hate for something I said when I was drunk to haunt me years down the road.

I was an alcoholic five year old. I forgot to mention that.

Some Veronica Mars updates (and how Rob Thomas outsmarted me)

by Keith McDuffee, posted Dec 1st 2006 11:25AM
veronica marsAfter catching the latest episode of Veronica Mars this past Tuesday, I was sort-of left feeling empty about how things ended. It just seemed that there were some key elements I've been used to seeing in the previous big mysteries solved, something that made me think "ah ha!" when looking back at previous evidence. After reading comments last week from some observant commenters, it all becomes clear now ... and it's pretty damn cool.

Olbermann too preachy?

by Adam Finley, posted Oct 22nd 2006 9:02PM
olbermannIf you've been watching Countdown with Keith Olbermann on MSNBC, you know that Olbermann is no fan of President Bush. Lately he's been doing a lot of "Special Comments" in which he criticizes the administration for how they've dealt with Iraq and how Olbermann feels they've misused their power. I've talked enough about Olbermann before, so I won't get into that here, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't find his impassioned rants at least intriguing.

However, David Burn on the blog Ad Pulp wrote that Olbermann could take a lesson from someone in the advertising world who realizes that selling ideas is always the same. He argues that Olbermann's approach is too "didactic," and relies more on berating the president for what he's done rather than convince people his point of view is the correct one. I think he has a point, but what do the rest of you think? I'm not interested in opinions about Olbermann himself, but rather, do you think news analysis like him, on any side of the political debate, spend too much time saying what's wrong and not enough time explaining why their view is right?

The Five: Reasons why I'm afraid to give Grey's Anatomy a chance

by Keith McDuffee, posted May 17th 2006 12:36PM
grey's anayomyNow that Grey's Anatomy is over and has officially been picked up for a third season by ABC, it's  time for me to make a decision about whether or not I want to finally bite the bullet and catch myself up with this show.

I've been hearing from several people -- TV Squaders included -- how great this show is, that I just have to watch it, that I'm missing out. So, why have I been putting this off for so long? Why haven't I just sat down and watched the show? Even just one episode? I'll tell you why.
