New TV on DVD releases this week

DamagesHere are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.

Defying Gravity is one of those shows where I said "oh, I have to start watching that," and then it was gone from ABC. I guess there have been several shows like that in recent years. I can say the same thing about Damages and Durham County, but at least those two shows are still around.

Guess I'm interested in shows that begin with the letter D this week.

  • 21 Jump Street - Season 1
  • Cranford: Return to Cranford and The Collection (Cranford/Return to Cranford)
  • Dallas - Season 12
  • Damages - Season 2
  • Defying Gravity - Complete Series
  • Durham County - Season 1

Supernatural: Nightshifter

Chris Gauthier(S02E12) "We are so screwed."

While things could certainly be better for the Winchester boys, fans of Supernatural have nothing to complain about. This was a great episode. It brings to mind conversations I've had with people concerning which episode of Firefly you show to someone to introduce them to the series. I always pick "Our Mrs. Reynolds". And now I would put "Nightshifter" high on the list for giving people a look at Supernatural.

There is quite a bit of back story that leads up to this story, but the episode was done in a way that it will stand on its own very well. All the big elements of the series are in there too. We had ladies man Dean, the brothers arguing, a creepy and mysterious foe, nutty guest star, gorgeous girls, dead bodies, something slimy, great music, and the boys being misunderstood by the authorities. The only thing lacking was for Jared and Jensen to take off their shirts for the ladies, or guys, depending on your tastes.
