Anna Nicole judge resigns for a career in...
Remember the sobbing judge who turned the Anna Nicole Smith custody case into an audition tape for himself? He's off the bench. Judge Larry Seidlin has resigned from his position of 29 years and he's not saying where he's going. But, I'm guessing he's making a beeline for a television camera. When Seidlin was all over television a few months back, he was reportedly being wooed by at least one network for a little face time. In his resignation, Seidlin didn't say exactly what he'll be doing, except that he has "a further commitment to helping my fellow citizens through roles in the educational system, media, and non-profit organizations." I highlighted a key word there because I'm guessing we'll be seeing Judge Larry's emotional outbursts on television sometime soon.
Anyone want to guess what type of show he'll be getting?
*UPDATE: Yup, he's got a TV show. He'll be filming a pilot for CBS Television Distribution.
Karlin talks about why he's leaving The Daily Show
As word leaked out that Ben Karlin was going to leave his post as executive producer of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, speculation started swirling. Did Karlin have a fallout from Jon Stewart? Was he suffering from burnout? Was he stepping aside so the show wouldn't lose its valued head writer, David Javerbaum? Since Karlin, Stewart, or Colbert weren't talking, speculation only grew over the weekend.According to Karlin, who along with Stewart spoke to Jacques Steinberg of The New York Times, burnout was one factor; helming both shows was an all-consuming job. But his departure came more from a desire to work on other projects, such as a book of essays he's editing called Things I've Learned From Women Who've Dumped Me.
Comedy Central Insider scoops Rusmfeld resignation
You know, it's funny what blogging about TV does to a person. Now that I've been doing this for so long I typically find out about inconsequential stuff having to do with the television industry before I learn about important things that might actually affect my life. Sometimes, though, those worlds can collide.
Citing a complete lack of journalistic standards, a blogger for the Comedy Central Insider mentioned last night that a friend of his who worked in the White House told him Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld would be stepping down. It wasn't until early this afternoon that Rumsfeld made the official announcement and the major media sources began to report on it.
Before anyone says anything, yes, I understand this was something that just happened to fall into CC Insider's blog-lap, and that "this guy I know said this might happen" isn't exactly a sound journalistic source. I just found it amusing that people surfing for Drawn Together clips and pictures of Amy Sedaris were the first ones to hear about the alleged resignation.
