Top 11 in '11: TV's Best Scene-Stealing Men
by AOL TV Staff, posted Dec 12th 2011 12:00PM
What do Nolan from 'Revenge' and Schmidt, the self-proclaimed ladies man on 'New Girl,' have in common?Yeah, they can both get a little smarmy, and Nolan could probably fill a Douchebag Jar faster than most with his conniving ways. But they're also two of our 11 in '11 best scene-stealing men on TV.
This list is filled with epic examples of how to be a co-star. Yes, these 11 men may not be top-billed on their respective shows, but it's safe to say those shows wouldn't be the same without them.

Your Burning 'Revenge' Questions Answered by Creator Mike Kelley
by Maureen Ryan, posted Dec 7th 2011 11:00PM
Mike Kelley truly understood that his show was a hit when people began arguing about it at a Los Angeles hair salon. All Kelley wanted was a trim, but when he mentioned that he created 'Revenge,' his stylist began raving about how he loved the high-end fashion on the show, which was his favorite new soap opera. Another customer corrected the stylist and said that the show was really a murder mystery. A third salon patron chimed in with yet another interpretation of the show.
"If you've hit the salon in L.A., you've become a success," Kelley said with a laugh. But the spontaneous debate about the show, which has been a breakout hit for ABC, made him realize "that people can get whatever they want out of this show," whether that's schadenfreude regarding the wealthy, a soapy slice of escapism or a well-paced serial drama with a clue-laden mythology.
For those who have already become addicted to "Revenge," Kelley promised lots of exciting new developments in 2012: At least three new characters, including a love interest for Victoria (Madeleine Stowe), will arrive in the second half of the season, which will also reveal who died on the beach at the engagement party in the series premiere.
Talking TV Podcast Riffs on 'Sons of Anarchy,' 'Homeland,' 'Revenge' and 'State of Play'
by Maureen Ryan, posted Dec 7th 2011 11:45AM
There's lots of TV to discuss before the cable and broadcast networks begin their holiday-season hibernation periods, and Ryan McGee and I tried to get to as much of it as we could in this week's Talking TV with Ryan and Ryan podcasts.First up, we devote more than 30 minutes to the 'Sons of Anarchy' Season 4 finale, which I also wrote about here. In the second podcast, we briefly discussed several projects debuting this week and then talked in more depth about 'Revenge' (expect more on that topic late Wednesday, which is when I'll publish an interview with creator Mike Kelley), 'State of Play' (a truly great 2003 British miniseries that BBC America is re-airing starting Wednesday; read more about it here), and 'Homeland,' a very good Showtime program that is heading into the home stretch of its first season.
Running times are below.

The Real Emily Thorne Drops a Bombshell on Jack on 'Revenge' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 24th 2011 5:30AM
The women of 'Revenge' (Wed., 10PM ET on ABC) are finding it harder and harder to control the worlds around them. Victoria is losing the battle against everyone in her family. Her husband managed to sneak Lydia out of the house where Victoria was essentially holding her captive. Daniel has pretty much moved in with Emily, while Charlotte is basically in the process of bilking her mother out of money and still dating Declan. But, those are just mere distractions compared to Emily Thorne's problem, which can be summed up in one name: Emily Thorne. The real Emily Thorne. "Why didn't she leave?" and "What is her end game?" are two very good questions that we don't have the answer for. But she's clearly no longer interested in being Emily's ally in this.

'Revenge' on ABC Is Sweet: Let Us Count the Ways
by Maureen Ryan, posted Nov 9th 2011 5:45PM
The first thing you need to know about 'Revenge' is that it's a verb.Emily Thorne is in the Hamptons, stirring up trouble by REVENGING all over the place. She is REVENGING her dead father, who died after taking the fall for a bunch of venal rich people who committed a crime. Such infamy must be REVENGED. (Oh, that's another thing -- when you speak of the ABC drama, your tone of voice should indicate that you're speaking in ALL CAPS.)
What else do you need to know about 'Revenge'? Well, I found it a bit stiff and forced when it began -- as I said in my original review -- but I've grown increasingly addicted to it, and last week's episode was the most satisfying and entertaining festival of REVENGING yet. By fine-tuning its tone and its cheeky, brisk approach to the prime-time soap genre, it's become the guilty pleasure I always wanted it to be.
But if you're not up to speed on the show, the following guide should fill you in on what you need to know about Emily's busy schedule of REVENGING.
ABC Gives 'Once Upon a Time,' 'Last Man Standing' & 'Happy Endings' Full Season Orders
by Laura Prudom, posted Nov 4th 2011 7:15AM
The fall has been kind to ABC; after recent full season orders for 'Revenge' and 'Suburgatory,' the Alphabet network is doubling down with pickups for two more of their freshman series, fantasy drama 'Once Upon a Time' and Tim Allen's 'Last Man Standing.'Though 'Once' has only aired two episodes so far, it's already the highest-rated new drama of the season, managing an average 12.3 million viewers and a robust 4.0 rating in the coveted adults 18-49 demo. Allen's male-skewing comedy has seen some audience erosion since its premiere, but it's still performing well on Tuesday nights (12.7 million and a 3.7 demo), where ABC had previously struggled to make an impact.
Sophomore comedy 'Happy Endings' has seen series-high ratings in recent weeks, and finally seems to be catching on with viewers in its post-'Modern Family' slot, which has earned it a full 22 episodes. (Ah-mah-zing!)
Bad news for 'Pan Am' and 'Man Up' though ...
Fall TV: A Mid-Season Report
by Stephanie Earp, posted Nov 1st 2011 11:47AM

It's always tempting at this time of year to look for patterns where perhaps none exist. With four confirmed cancellations ('Charlie's Angels,' 'The Playboy Club,' 'How to be a Gentleman' and 'Free Agents') and several on-the-bubble new shows ('Pan Am,' 'Prime Suspect,' 'Body of Proof'), the only real theme (besides being awful) is a tendency to take themselves too seriously. I do take some satisfaction from seeing all the nostalgia shows die an early death. Apparently the one thing 'The Playboy Club' team didn't look up about 'Mad Men' were the ratings -- a couple million viewers. It was also the only thing they were able to duplicate.

ABC Orders Full Seasons of 'Revenge' & 'Suburgatory,' Additional 'Happy Endings' Scripts
by Chris Harnick, posted Oct 13th 2011 5:10PM
Ah-mah-zing news: ABC has ordered full seasons of 'Revenge' and 'Suburgatory,' and ordered six more scripts for 'Happy Endings,' according to TVLine.'Revenge' has received a good amount of buzz and performed solidly in the ratings. Emily VanCamp stars in 'Revenge' as a young woman who sets out to take down the people responsible for framing her father of crimes he did not commit.
Jeremy Sisto and Jane Levy star in 'Suburgatory,' a comedy about a single dad who moves his daughter to the suburbs to save her from city life. 'Suburgatory' has been holding on to almost all of the audience that tunes in to its lead-in show, 'The Middle.'
'Happy Endings' Hits Ah-Mah-Zing Ratings High
by Chris Harnick, posted Oct 13th 2011 2:15PM
Bust out that invisible hula hoop dance because there's reason to celebrate: Wednesday's 'Happy Endings' was watched by a series high of 7.5 million viewers!Aided by Megan Mullally's hysterical guest appearance as Dana Hartz, Penny's (Casey Wilson) mother, the show had a 3.3 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic. Things are looking good for the ABC comedy series.

Ask Mo Returns! Answering Your Questions on 'Terra Nova,' 'Revenge,' 'Breaking Bad,' 'Ringer' and Much More
by Maureen Ryan, posted Oct 12th 2011 11:30AM
Thanks for all the great questions you sent in for this round of Ask Mo. I picked a bumper crop to take on this time. Let's get right to it, shall we?Jamilbhatti0782: Do you think 'Terra Nova' will be picked up for a full season?
Mo says: Production wrapped last week on the first season of the dino drama, which was always envisioned as a 13-hour saga (according to a Fox representative, the show's 2-hour season finale airs Dec. 19). Any episodes beyond that would be part of a hypothetical second season, but the network hasn't yet decided whether to order a season 2. Given the show's high cost and relatively modest ratings, the jury is still out on whether we'll get a second season of dinosaur drama.
'Revenge' Star Emily VanCamp Talks Wanting a Polygamist Love Triangle & a 'Dexter' Crossover
by Maggie Furlong, posted Oct 12th 2011 11:00AM
Emily VanCamp might be out for 'Revenge' as the jilted Emily Thorne (nee Amanda Clarke) on ABC's new drama (Wednesdays, 10PM ET), but in real life she's all about coming up with funny scenarios for the series.I caught up with her to preview this week's episode, and we veered right off into a polygamist solution to her onscreen love triangle. She also explained why she wants Dexter Morgan -- yes, Michael C. Hall's serial killer from Showtime's 'Dexter' -- to make a guest appearance.
She also had some nice things to say about her 'Revenge' co-stars, including Madeleine Stowe, who plays Hamptons queen bee (and Emily Thorne's main target) Victoria Grayson. "It's kind of ridiculous," Thorne said. "I'm completely aware and completely grateful, just so everybody knows."
Keep reading for more guest-star scoop and a tease about next week's game-changing fifth episode, titled 'Guilt.' Will Emily finally give that hit list of hers a rest? Not so fast ...

House - Monday October 3, 9PM ET/PT, Global/FoxThe season premiere picks up a year after we last saw our favourite angry doctor, and he' s now serving time for all that crap he pulled. It's refreshing to see House finally suffer a few consequences for all his crazy behaviour, and giving Hugh Laurie the chance to play House behind bars is absolutely inspired. Jaleel White guests as his cellmate and new bestie, and of course -- I mean, come on, you knew it would go this way -- he treats a fellow prisoner with strange symptoms.
