Ellen DeGeneres has not yet appeared on 'Who Do You Think You Are?' But the talk-show host has been the recipient of some research into her genealogical background. According to Ancestry.com, DeGeneres is actually related to ... pop icon Madonna. So DeGeneres played up her family tree on the latest episode of 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' (weekdays, syndicated).

Gary Susman's continuing look at the Academy Awards race. This week: Best Supporting Actor, ranging from "The Locks" (Christoph Waltz) to "Don't Forget" (Richard Gere).

First up was some coverage of the previous night's Moment of Zen, footage of President Bush busting a move... or looking outrageously giddy about an epileptic seizure... or pulling an Elaine-esque full-body dry-heave. Whatever it was, it was horrifying.

For the first time, The Daily Show finally talked about the Virginia Tech shootings, and they did it perfectly. Instead of focusing on the incident itself, they covered the mainstream media coverage. I avoided the big news channels for several days after the shootings, so I was doubly-shocked by the video clips. Pathetic.

(S05E03) This is more like it. After two below average episodes to start the season, I thought this third installment of Family Guy was much better. The overall story of the mega-corp superstore coming to town and killing all the other businesses wasn't particularly novel. South Park did that a couple years ago in "Something Wall-Mart This Way Comes". It did serve as a good backdrop for some funny stuff though. And really, any time someone wants to put the boots to Wal-Mart, I'm ok with it.

Things started out on a good note with Red Dawn the musical and the who's that kind of drunk bit. I thought the roller skating montage was well done too. And they just kept coming. Pepperidge Farms remembers, the Ice Man's trail to the gay club, and Hummer guy were all good. "Yeah, Rumsfeld!"

I've bitched before about how the networks seem to have given up on Saturdays. But tonight ... tonight's a little ridiculous. I'm watching ABC right now, and guess what it's playing? Pretty Woman! That's right ... a sixteen year-old movie, that TBS AMC won't touch because it's not fresh enough, is taking up a piece of a major network's schedule. And it's not even Christmas!

Of course, I'm watching the stupid thing (nothing else on ... maybe the NBA playoffs, but ... eh). Here's what I'm learning from this experience:

1. Julia Roberts is the least convincing hooker I've ever seen.
2. Early '90s double-breasted suits look kinda silly now.
3. Richard Gere never did anything for me as an actor.
4. Jason Alexander was actually thin once ... once.
5. This is the movie that inflicted "The King of Wishful Thinking" upon us.
6. This movie isn't nearly as funny as I thought it was in 1990.
7. I really, really need to get a girlfriend.
