Angie Harmon Talks About the 'Rizzoli & Isles' Winter Episodes (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 28th 2011 3:00PM
Angie Harmon stars as Detective Jane Rizzoli on TNT's highly-rated detective drama 'Rizzoli & Isles,' which makes its midseason premiere tonight at 10PM ET and features a cameo from Bill O'Reilly. Harmon stopped by 'Live! With Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) where she talked about the five-episode "winter season" that will conclude the show's second season, and the challenges of balancing her work and family life.

Harmon told Kelly Ripa and 'Live' guest-host Neil Patrick Harris how the mini-season came into being. "We signed on to do a certain amount of episodes... and because the show is loved ... they added five more episodes ... to which I was like, 'Yay! Wait ..." Harmon's ambivalence stems from the extra time she had to spend away from her family, who lives in North Carolina, while the show shoots in L.A.

Angie Harmon Gives a Glimpse of 'Rizzoli and Isles' Season Two on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 11th 2011 5:45PM
Angie Harmon talks about season two of 'Rizzoli and Isles' on 'The View'Angie Harmon's Boston Police detective Jane Rizzoli was the proverbial tough-as-nails cop on season one of 'Rizzoli and Isles.' But she doesn't start off season two that way, and as Harmon said Monday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), her character will get a little softening this season, which premieres tonight at 10PM ET on TNT.

A clip from the new season found Rizzoli sitting on a couch feeling anti-social, nursing an addiction to The Shopping Channel, and looking rather unlike a woman ready to go out and bust some perps. "The first season was all about Jane being sort of Boston P.D.'s own Rottweiler," said Harmon. "This season, season two, is all about, you know, she doesn't have all the answers, she is more vulnerable, there are cracks in the armor."

Freeze! Order in the Court! Our 11 Favorite Legal Ladies on TV

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jul 7th 2011 12:30PM
Rizzoli & IslesThere are plenty of law-abiding characters on TV, but we're particularly fond of the ladies who wield badges and shout "objection!" in courtrooms to keep our airwaves safe.

With the return of 'Rizzoli & Isles' (Season 2 premieres Mon., July 11, 10PM ET on TNT) -- where stars Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander battle Boston bad guys as a detective and medical examiner team -- we salute those cops and lawyers who help maintain law and order (some of them are even on 'Law & Order') on TV.

Of course, all of the current TV cops on our list have some iconic legal ladies to thank, including 'Police Woman''s Pepper Anderson (Angie Dickinson); Claudette Wyms (CCH Pounder) on 'The Shield'; and the dynamic duo of 'Cagney & Lacey' (Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly), just to name a few.

And we can't forget their legal counterparts either, with beloved barristers like Susan Dey's Grace van Owen on 'L.A. Law'; Sarah McKenzie (Catherine Bell) on 'JAG'; the ladies of 'Boston Legal,' 'The Practice' and 'Ally McBeal'; Markie Post's Christine Sullivan on 'Night Court'; and Harmon herself, as 'Law & Order''s ADA Abbie Carmichael.

These pros all helped pave the moral way for what's now one of the most popular professions for women on TV. Here, 11 of our current favorite female TV cops and lawyers.

Rizzoli Is Shot in the Line of DutyOn 'Rizzoli & Isles' (Mon., 10PM ET on TNT), a dirty cop (Bobby) has trapped Detective Jane Rizzoli and her colleague and friend Maura Isles inside the Boston police station. When Bobby decides to escape, he thinks dragging Rizzoli along with him is a good idea.

It does start out that way: Her body sufficiently blocks his from the vigilant officers standing outside. No one can get a clean shot at him without endangering Rizzoli. "Drop the gun, Bobby! Don't make it worse on yourself -- let her go!" shouts Detective Korsak.

Rizzoli screms, "Shoot him! Just shoot him!" But nobody budges. The detective takes matters into her own hands -- and Isles witnesses the horrific turn of events.

An Awkward Family Encounter on 'Rizzoli & Isles' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 7th 2010 4:23AM
'Rizzoli & Isles'Many adopted children go through life wondering if they'll ever meet a blood relative. But we'll bet none of them get a first encounter quite like the one Maura Isles got on 'Rizzoli & Isles' (Mon. 10PM on TNT). While conducting the autopsy of a master identity thief, the DNA results come back with an apparent problem.

Jane Rizzoli, who was there working the case of the thief, tried to convince Isles that mistakes can happen and that it's no big deal to just send another sample. But it's not the fact of potential contamination that had Isles so disturbed. it's what the lab results meant.

Jane Rizzoli Can't Commit on 'Rizzoli & Isles'Is Jane Rizzoli a commitment-phobe? Not exactly. She just can't commit to another officer, she reveals on 'Rizzoli & Isles' (Mon., 10PM ET on TNT). Sure, she would love being together -- the dinners, movies, reading the Sunday newspaper... All of that stuff.

Rizzoli Catches a Criminal During a MarathonThe baddy on 'Rizzoli & Isles' (Mon., 10PM ET on TNT) is a runner. Not just the kind that run from the cops -- the kind that run marathons. No matter. Detective Jane Rizzoli is in excellent shape.

Kissing a Girl on 'Rizzoli & Isles' - Is Angie Harmon's Character a Secret Lesbian? (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Aug 17th 2010 5:29AM
Kissing a Girl on 'Rizzoli & Isles' - Is Angie Harmon's Character a Secret Lesbian? There have already been some rumors that 'Rizzoli & Isles' is secretly a slightly, well, "lesbian" kind of show. ... And frankly, we're all in favor of that. But the cop drama seems to want to tease us with the question of whether its main characters are gay or not. Maybe the latest episode will give us some answers?

[Spoiler alert.]

On tonight's show (Mon., 10PM ET on TNT), Jane Rizzoli has to go undercover to solve a murder. Well, that's pretty standard stuff for this series. But Jane (played by Angie Harmon) has to infiltrate a lesbian bar in order to catch the killer. And -- as if that wasn't enough already -- then she starts seducing the sexy female barmaid.

At this point, the soundtrack to the show becomes sort of "porn-y," for lack of a better word. "You know," Jane says to the bartender, "you said if I was ever feeling ... adventurous." Next, the barmaid leans in for a kiss. Is this the big 'Rizzoli & Isles' reveal that we've been waiting for?

Maura Gives Date Scary Medical Diagnosis on 'Rizzoli & Isles'There's a reason that medical examiner Dr. Maura Isles is more comfortable around the dead than the living, as evidenced by her personal life. A first date starts off well for Maura on 'Rizzoli & Isles' (Mon., 10PM ET on TNT). He seems really into her, and even leans across the table for a kiss.

Then she feels his face and says, "Your skin is a little rough." Holding his hand, she adds, "Abnormal joint flexibility."
"I would be happy to show you that later," Nate says flirtatiously.

But she persists in doctor mode, inquiring as to whether he has flat feet or is nearsighted. After she diagnoses him with a genetic disorder, Nate says, "If this is your idea of foreplay, it's not working."

When he abruptly stands up, Maura is surprised and confused. He's leaving -- to go call his doctor. Seriously, she didn't see that comin'?
