Robsten Discuss Couple Rumors on 'Oprah Winfrey Show' (VIDEO)

by Harley W. Lond, posted May 13th 2010 7:01PM
Count on Oprah Winfrey to get right to the point.

Her guests on Thursday's edition of 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' (weekdays, syndicated) included 'Twilight' stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and Winfrey pulled no punches when she asked Pattinson point blank: "There's all these rumors about the two of you dating ... is it true?"

But apparently the intense media spotlight these last two years has educated the pair in the fine art of dodging a question with humor. "Kristen's pregnant," Pattinson said. "We've actually had this conversation" Stewart said. "He's actually having the baby because I'm too ... imagine a baby coming out of this thing," she added, sliding her hands down her slim torso. Tabloid Story Claims Robert Pattinson is Pregnant (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Mar 9th 2010 3:00PM
Bizarre gossip magazine stories are an unavoidable fact of life for celebrities in the public eye, but this one beats them all. 'Twilight' star Robert Pattinson said on 'The Early Show' (weekdays, 7AM ET on CBS) that the strangest tabloid story ever written about him claimed he was pregnant and trying to keep it a secret.

"My mom .... ordered a copy of this Australian gossip magazine. It was on the front cover saying I was pregnant and hiding it from people. It's absolutely true. I thought it was absolutely amazing. It was a big scandal," Pattinson said, laughing. "The most scandalous thing was the fact that I was hiding it from everyone."

by Donald Deane, posted Mar 2nd 2010 1:30PM
Although Emilie de Ravin and Robert Pattinson shared good chemistry in the romantic drama 'Remember Me,' de Ravin said it was difficult working with the 'Twilight' star because of the public scrutiny his immense fame brings, she revealed on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC).

"It was challenging at times, because when you've got that many eyes on you ... and you're just trying to figure out a rehearsal, you just become so self-conscious of that," de Ravin said.

Jimmy Fallon Celebrates His First Anniversary Tonight

by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 1st 2010 5:06PM
Jimmy FallonWhen it was announced that Jimmy Fallon was taking over for Conan O'Brien on NBC's 'Late Night,' a lot of people cringed. Would he do a good job? Could he stop mumbling and getting all fidgety? The answer to the first question is yes, and the answer to the second question is not really but it's actually OK. He's doing some funny regular bits ("Real Housewives of Late Night," "Wheel of Carpet Samples," the notes he writes on Friday nights), though I can do without "Lick It For Ten."

Tonight he celebrates his first anniversary, and his guests will be Robert Pattinson (I'm sure they'll talk about this regular segment), '30 Rock's' Judah Friedlander, and chef Mario Batali. Note: Hall & Oates were supposed to perform on the show tonight, but they had to cancel due to the sudden death of their bassist T-Bone Wolk. Wolk was also the bassist for 'Saturday Night Live' over the years. Mario Batali will take their place, though I doubt he will be playing "Kiss On My List."

Cinematical, TV Squad's detached fraternal siamese twin, also at Comic-Con

Even though TV Squad's very own John Scott Lewinski is fighting his way through hordes of overweight Rorschachs and pre-pubescent Chun Lis to get exclusive interviews and scoops on the newest TV news at the San Diego Comic Con, don't forget that our partners-in-crime from Cinematical are also there covering the latest flim-flam in film.

The movie side of the annual pop-culture cavalcade opened with one of the biggest names in the history of film and what could very well be one of the biggest names in the future of film. Director James Cameron screened a solid 25 minutes of his forthcoming sci-fi epic Avatar. Blogger Todd Gilchrist got a hint of the plot and special effects movie-goers can expect when the film hits theaters later this year and said it "promises to be both hugely entertaining and technically groundbreaking." Man, that's got me worried. That's what they also said about Titanic.

A TV series about Twilight's New Moon movie means we have too many channels

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 20th 2009 8:27PM
The Twilight Saga: New MoonTV Guide has a couple of weekly recap shows about American Idol when it's on, but even so this seems a bit excessive. I know Twilight is a big hit with the kids, but is it big enough that we need a weekly hour-long show to build up to the premiere of New Moon, the second film in the franchise.

"This week we'll interview the cast and crew and show you some sets. Next week we can talk more to the cast and show you another piece of set. Ooh! Ooh! Wanna see an exclusive six second sneak preview of Jacob growing fur and a snout. Enthralling!" Sadly, this will probably work. If nothing else, it will get young girls watching ReelzChannel.

I have no problem with the behind-the-scenes specials we get to spotlight upcoming movies, but an entire series based on one movie seems a bit ridiculous. That said, maybe NBC should look at picking this up in case Leno doesn't work out. Make it a nightly thing. After all, there's more movies coming!

The Twilight guy reviews the new Harry Potter movie

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 17th 2009 11:28AM
I'm not even going to pretend that this clip is particularly funny (though I did laugh at some of the inane names of magic spells that Jimmy Fallon comes up with), but I think it's worth watching to see some of the bizarre stuff that Fallon is doing on Late Night. I've seen some of the Harry Potter movies but I haven't seen Twilight, so I'm not sure if Fallon is making references to the movie or what ("bothered?").

Twilight Vs. Roswell: Are aliens more romantic than vampires? - VIDEO

by Mike Moody, posted Dec 2nd 2008 10:02AM
twilight vs roswell
Even before I caught Twilight on the big screen, I was comparing it to Roswell, the great teen sci-fi/romance series that aired on The WB (and later The CW UPN) from 1999-2002. The Twilight ads and trailers seemed to tell the same story Roswell told more than nine years ago: A sensitive girl is saved by a supernatural hunk who makes it his mission to protect her at all costs. The two fall in love, but the relationship is complicated by his other-worldly circumstances.

It's not exactly the most original story in the world. This sort of thing goes back to Bram Stoker's Dracula, (and probably further back than that). Still, after watching Twilight, I was a bit shocked by its similarities to Roswell, especially since Roswell wasn't half as popular as Twilight. I haven't read the Twilight or Roswell book series, so I can't tell you if the similarities persist in print (but my friend Stephanie can). I can only compare the big screen and TV versions.

From major plot points to character motivations, these two franchises have a lot in common, but one clearly stands above the other. Let's compare, and you'll see what I mean:
