'Hawaii Five-0': Playing 'Chicken' With a Jet (VIDEO)
When you're playing the game of "chicken," you have to fully commit. Two people are headed together on a collision course -- the first one to flinch loses the game. On the other hand, if no one flinches -- then everyone loses. And on 'Hawaii Five-0' (Mon., 10PM ET on CBS), that could lead to death.[Warning: Spoiler alert.]
On the new episode, Navy SEAL Graham Wilson (Adam Beach) is accused of a crime he didn't commit. Wilson is blamed for the death of his wife -- as a result, he goes berserk. The solider grabs a bunch of hostages. He demands that the cops find the real killer -- or else.
Graham is playing chicken, but so are policemen Danno and McGarrett (Scott Caan and Alex O'Loughlin). As a former SEAL, Steve McGarrett sympathizes with Graham. But his partner Danny "Danno" Williams just thinks the guy is a murderer.
Robert Loggia to play Ray Romano's dad on new TNT show
But instead of that ad I'll post this classic from the early 90s. If you say so Mr. Loggia!
Monk: Mr. Monk Takes a Punch
(S07E04) Okay, this episode was a definite reach, especially the convoluted way they came up with a climax to feature Monk doing all the things necessary to pass a fitness exam. Perhaps it was an homage to the Olympics, a twisted connection thanks to the NBC Universal. I don't know, but it took a leap of faith to buy it all. For starters, there was no star murderer. It was an interesting case for a change, especially since the killer was a professional hit man. The planting of the bomb in the heavy bag was clever, although wouldn't a real pro make sure that the target would be hit? The set up was so random. And if you don't care about killing, why not leave a bomb big enough to destroy the gym and everyone in it? Just wondering...
Family Guy: Peter's Two Dads
(S05E10) When I checked the schedule and saw the title of this episode was "Peter's Two Dads" I was a little torn. First, the Peter-centric episodes generally have a much higher chance of going off the rails. On the other hand, the possibility that it would be a play on the 80's sit-com My Two Dads, which starred Greg Evigan, Paul Reiser, and Staci Keanan, was intriguing. Unfortunately (probably only for me), that idea never materialized, and the episode that we did see still left me with something of a mixed reaction. On the good side, it was well constructed, and I give a lot of points to the writers for a well thought out plot. Chris got a bit of the short shrift, but using Meg's birthday as the setting for offing Francis was a good choice. It involved her in what was otherwise a mostly Peter affair.
Tom Goes to the Mayor: Saxman
(S02E06) This is an early review, courtesy of Adult Swim Fix. The actually episode will air Sunday evening, as usual.
I never would have thought Robert Loggia and Tom Goes to the Mayor would be a good match, but his role in this episode as the owner of a waterbed store was just one of the things that made this episode probably the best one of the season so far. Loggia plays Lew, the owner of Lew's Waterbed Galleria, a store that's actually on the lake, so people don't pay local taxes. While Tom is hanging out on the boardwalk where the store is located, he runs into a street musician he calls "Saxman" (Tom Kenny). Saxman not only plays soprano saxophone, but he also plays a "digital chime box" with his feet. Tom loves the Saxman's music, and when he finds out the Saxman is going to be kicked off the boardwalk by Lew the waterbed man, Tom decides to let him stay in his front yard in a pup tent, even though his wife is out of town visiting her ex-husband and doesn't like Tom to have men over when she's away.
