At 'Rocco's Dinner Party' (Wed., 10PM ET on Bravo), Alan Cumming revealed that his next film role would be Salvador Dali. After joking around about his crazy-eyed impression of Dali, it was discovered that fellow guest Liza Minnelli had actually met the artist."I went into this restaurant, and I was sitting at the table with Salvador Dali and I saw the most beautiful woman I'd ever seen," Minnelli said. Only, things weren't quite as they seemed.
It turns out the most beautiful woman Liza Minnelli had ever seen was actually a man in drag. And rather than be cool and sophisticated about it when she found out, Minnelli shouted out, "You're kidding!"
'Rocco's Dinner Party' Morphs Into a Culinary Fashion Show (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 4th 2011 6:30PM
Food and fashion are regularly the focus of programming on Bravo, so it made perfect sense for 'Rocco's Dinner Party' (Wednesdays, 10PM on Bravo) to combine the two. Contestants were asked to make dishes for a "fashion-forward dinner party," creating dishes that were couture and ready to wear out of the same featured ingredient. The couture side featured meals like black and white sesame-crusted tuna, new potatoes with crème fraiche and caviar, and chocolate ganache with sweet cream. On the ready-to-wear side was tuna salad, potatoes au gratin, and mint s'mores.
Executive private chef Frank Otte wound up griping about how he had so many culinary rules to follow. That didn't sit well with Brooklyn caterer Sharon Robustelli. "If Frank doesn't win, it would just be so cool 'cuz he talks too much smack," she said. In other words, she wanted to see Frank's couture get a dressing down.
Padma's Potato Skins Recipe Gets Everyone Hot at 'Rocco's Dinner Party' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 23rd 2011 10:40AM
The special guest for this week's installment of 'Rocco's Dinner Party' (Wed., 10 PM ET on Bravo) was Padma Lakshmi. This upped the ante for the contestants as Lakshmi knows a thing or two about good cooking. But it was her dinner table conversation that brought the most heat.Take a read of the following description for making potato skins. "Take a nice russet potato out of the earth with your bare cold hand. After that, you boil it. Then you take it out when it's piping hot and you can barely hold it ... scoop some of the potato out so that skin gets nice and crunchy and brown at the edges."
Sounds pretty standard, but everything was in Lakshmi's delivery. By the time she finished, she not only had them salivating at the thought of potato skins, but they were fanning themselves for a whole different kind of heat.
Rocco DiSpirito Impressed By Jackie Collins' Meatballs on 'The Talk' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 22nd 2011 6:25PM
You can learn a lot about someone from their meatballs, at least if you're TV chef Rocco DiSpirito, host of 'Rocco's Dinner Party.' On 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS) Wednesday, the ladies played DiSpirito a clip of him telling contestants on his show that he can tell exactly who someone is by the food they serve. Fellow guest Jackie Collins happened to be serving meatballs on 'The Talk,' which DiSpirito looked upon quite favorably."It tells me that you've got a set of meatballs," said DiSpirito. "You know my mom, who's watching, love you, mom, makes the best meatballs in the world." DiSpirito admitted he was judging on a curve, but liked the fact that Collins' meatballs were red and misshapen, indicating she had made them by hand.
That was all fine and good, but Leah Remini didn't want to hear a debate, she wanted to eat. "Why do I have to sit here watching Rocco eat?" she asked.
