Joel McHale talks about The IT Crowd and the reality TV fat trend
by Joel Keller, posted Sep 17th 2009 11:03AM
With the much-anticipated premiere of Community finally bowing tonight, I figured it was a good time to pull out the interview I did with Joel McHale when I encountered him at the NBC party during the TCA press tour. I didn't talk to McHale about his current NBC show, however; I talked to him about his previous NBC show. Fans of the British sitcom The IT Crowd may remember that an American pilot was shot and the show was announced for NBC's midseason schedule a couple of years back, with McHale playing Roy and Richard Ayoade bringing his breakout role of Moss over from the original. Only, the pilot never saw the light of day, and a series was never picked up.
I asked McHale about what caused the show to be dropped and if he has any regrets over the show's flame-out. Then, as a person standing in front of the host of The Soup would tend to do, I asked him about what in the reality TV landscape gets him charged up. Interview is after the jump.
Bret Michaels loses one round fight with Tony Awards set
by John Scott Lewinski, posted Jun 8th 2009 6:26PM
Rock of Love star Bret Michaels ran smack into a descending piece of stage scenery at Sunday night's Tony Awards, going down for the count with multiple injuries. You can watch the video here, or just watch after the jump. If you're not a fan of Michaels, his band (Poison) or his "looking for romance" reality show, you should resist the urge to watch it about 10 times while giggling. It's wrong to laugh at another person's misfortune. This reporter would certainly never dream of enjoying something like this.
MIchaels' injuries include a broken nose and three stitches in his lip. He had a CAT scan today as a precaution s he has an old neck injury. No word what effect the impact had on his permanent make-up.

'Sit Down, Shut Up'(Sun., 8:30PM, Fox) series premiere
It's not the return of 'Arrested Development,' but there are plenty of familiar voices in this new 'toon from 'Arrested' creator Mitch Hurwitz.
The show revolves around the wacky faculty members of Knob Haven High, a northeast high school with money issues, ornery students and teachers with plenty of angst of their own.
Among them: Will Arnett as bodybuilder/English teacher Ennis Hofftard, Jason Bateman as gym teacher Larry Littlejunk, Kenan Thompson as Principal Sue Sezno (who always "says no"), Will Forte as Vice Principal Proszakian, who uses the drugs he confiscates from students' lockers, and Henry Winkler as suicidal German teacher Mr. Deutschebog.

I couldn't help but think that after last week's reality shows heated up, the flame went out and the episodes were a little boring. It was probably because The Amazing Race was a non-elimination, Survivor was a clip show, and the photoshoot on America's Next Top Model was horrible and uninspiring. I'm not even going to touch the fact that Belinda Carlile was showing too much underwear for her age. More of the interesting highlights, and lowlights, after the jump.

'Big Love' (Sun., 9PM, HBO) 3rd season finale
For three seasons, Bill Henrickson has struggled to break free from his past, namely dealings with prophet Roman and his plotting, thuggish in-laws, the Greenes.
Bill thinks he's finally found a way, via a legal ally, to rid himself of the whole bunch all at once, though, as always, Roman will be at his wily best when the heat is on.
Meanwhile, as Sarah finally settles on post-high school plans, Nicki has a surprise reunion, Alby struggles to hold on to control of the compound and one character – a major character – becomes the second shocking 'Big Love' death of the season.
Bret Michaels is still searching for his Rock of Love
by Kona Gallagher, posted Jul 17th 2008 12:02PM
Okay, guys, you may want to sit down. I've got some bad news. There really is no good way to say this, so I'll just come out with it: Another couple who found "love" on a reality dating show has broken up. I know, I know. It's simply unbelievable. This time, the unlucky duo is Bret Michaels and Ambre Lake, from Rock of Love 2. How could it not have lasted forever? There was a mud pit involved, for Pete's sake.
Luckily, Michaels and VH1 aren't letting this little setback stop them from trying again for love and sweet, sweet, ratings. VH1 has just announced that there will be a Rock of Love 3 -- with a twist. Rock of Love Bus is set to premiere on the music channel in early 2009.
For more information about Rock of Love Bus and why Bret and Ambre called it quits, follow me after the jump.
