Roman Polanski Victim Samantha Geimer Says She's Glad Polanski Wasn't Extradited (VIDEO)

by Jeremy Taylor, posted Oct 7th 2010 11:30PM
Samantha Geimer, who Roman Polanski raped as a 13-year old in 1977, spoke out for the first time since Polanski was arrested last year in Switzerland on charges he fled the United States rather than go to prison for that crime.

Appearing on 'Larry King Live,' Geimer told King she was glad Swiss authorities ultimately decided not to extradite Polanski back to the U.S. to face charges.

"Yes, I'm very relieved. Just the arrest brought such a ruckus into my life," the 46-year old told King. "I'm sure his coming back would just be a thousand times worse ... I don't want to see him go to trial, and I certainly don't want to be a part of that if it happens."

"From the day that he was arrested in Switzerland for the next two weeks, between Samantha and I, we got 500 calls from press," Geimer's attorney, Larry Silver, added.

Later in the interview Geimer said she'd been "more damaged by the court system and the media" than by what Polanski did to her.

To Catch a Predator Catches up to Roman Polanski

by John Scott Lewinski, posted Oct 13th 2009 9:02AM
Chris Hansen meets Roman Polanski on a fictional version of To Catch a Predator. Before it got self-referential and started playing up its own celebrity, NBC Dateline's "To Catch a Predator" series was a distinct guilty pleasure. It did the heart good to see some genuinely depraved lowlifes humiliated on nationwide TV before heading off to prison where they'd no doubt meet predators more adept than themselves.

Meanwhile, with so many in Hollywood reaching out to defend confessed child rapist Roman Polanski, It was inevitable that some clever video editor would bring "Predator" host Chris Hansen and moviedom's most prominent pedophile together for a brief interview on YouTube (video after the jump).

The exchange hits all of the "Predator" chestnuts as, whenever Hansen ambushed one of these depraved disasters, there'd be excuses and denials galore. Sadly, Polanski outlived the real "To Catch a Predator" as lame lawsuits involving tired notions of due process and entrapment ruined the fun for everyone.
