by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 15th 2011 6:20PM
USA has renewed its original series 'Necessary Roughness,' 'Covert Affairs' and 'Royal Pains.' The pick-ups cap a strong summer for the cable network in terms of ratings. Each series has received a 16-episode order.

"USA's original programming blew through all expectations this summer. We had an unprecedented number of original series on our air -- and every single one of them was great," Chris McCumber and Jeff Wachtel, USA Network co-presidents, said in a statement.

"The actors who make our shows unique aren't just stars, they are character actors in the finest sense. Our writers, directors and producers truly understand what it takes to create sustainable success. It's a rare and wonderful thing to announce the pick-up of our entire summer of programming."

Earlier this summer, USA renewed its other originals: 'White Collar,' 'Suits,' 'Burn Notice' and 'In Plain Sight,' making them seven for seven in pick-ups.

Wilmer Valderrama Hallucinates on the 'Royal Pains' Finale (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Sep 1st 2011 2:20AM
'Royal Pains' - A Little Art, a Little Science'After another fun summer in the Hamptons, it's time to say goodbye to the Lawson brothers for a while with the summer finale of 'Royal Pains' (Wed., 9PM ET on USA). And by "fun," of course, we mean people nearly dying every week.

Art enthusiast Eric has been a medical mystery for a while now, and now he's hallucinating, he's diabetic and he has a medical condition that makes him physically react to artwork.

And on top of all that, some kind of affliction that makes him come across like a very bad actor. Okay, we're just kidding, guest star Wilmer Valderrama.

'Royal Pains' Star Paulo Costanzo on the Brotherly Love Dynamic and The Fonz

by Annette Bourdeau, posted Aug 29th 2011 2:00PM
There are two things audiences just can't get enough of: medical dramas and shows about the rich and fabulous. That probably explains why 'Royal Pains' is such a hit.

The show stars Mark Feuerstein and Paulo Costanzo as two brothers named Hank and Evan who run a concierge medical practice in the Hamptons. Hank is the MD, while Evan runs the financial side of the business. In Season 2, Henry Winkler joins the cast as their flaky father.

We caught up with the energetic Costanzo for a Season 2 primer. He fills us in on everything from the brotherly love dynamic to the luxe mansions to what it was like working with The Fonz.

Wilmer Valderrama Is Impressed With a Nude Sketch of Evan on 'Royal Pains' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 18th 2011 12:57AM
Wilmer Valderrama, 'Royal Pains'Wilmer Valderrama always gave off a sort of weird maybe-gay vibe on 'That '70s Show'. He gave off the same vibe to Evan and Paige when they caught him staring at a sketch that Evan had submitted to a local art show on 'Royal Pains' (Wed., 9PM ET on USA).

It was a nude of him drawn by Paige. Valderrama's character had purchased a bunch of paintings of known artists for his prestigious galleries, and had selected this one, too. However, he then found an even stronger connection to Paige

A connection so strong, he may well have taken her, though if she went willingly or not we don't yet know.

Matt Lauer Guest Stars on 'Royal Pains' (VIDEO)

by Laura Prudom, posted Aug 11th 2011 2:30AM
Royal Pains Matt LauerWe always appreciate it when TV personalities prove that they can laugh at themselves, and 'Today Show' host Matt Lauer certainly demonstrated that during his guest spot on 'Royal Pains' (Wed., 9PM ET on USA) this week.

After Hank lied about getting them a spot on Lauer's show, Evan just so happened to run into the host at the grocery store and proceeded to try and convince him to give them a real shot.

Mark Fuerstein on Matt Lauer's 'Royal Pains' Cameo: 'He's a Little Too Perfect' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 10th 2011 2:25PM
Matt Lauer of 'Today' plays himself on 'Royal Pains'Mark Feuerstein was a bit worried about Matt Lauer's cameo on 'Royal Pains.' Hosting is different from acting, he explained Wednesday on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC), and Feuerstein didn't know how well Lauer would make the transition. As it turns out, he shouldn't have been too concerned.

"Matt is the consummate host on the 'Today' show, but we didn't know how it would go on 'Royal Pains,' acting in a one-hour dramedy," said Feuerstein. After Lauer's scene was shot, it was a different story. "I had to hear from every member of the crew how prepared he was, how well he improv-ed and was off-the-cuff, and how nice he was to everyone on set," said Feuerstein. "It's annoying. He's a little too perfect."

by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 3rd 2011 5:35PM
Julie Benz of 'Royal Pains' on 'The Talk'Sharon Osbourne has had her share of flubs on 'The Talk' (weekdays, syndicated on CBS), and she continued her streak with guest Julie Benz. The 'Dexter' and 'No Ordinary Family' alum was on the show to talk about her latest TV role on 'Royal Pains.' Osbourne apparently misread her cue cards.

"Can you tell us about the character you play in 'Royal Pins?'" asked Osbourne. She was quickly corrected by her fellow panel members, and simply asked again, "What is the character?" Benz laughed it off. "For those of you who watch the show, I play the mom to Libby, and I'm a lesbian alpaca farmer," she said.

Paulo Costanzo's Version of 'Royal Pains' Sounds Kind of Like 'Game of Thrones'

by PopEater Staff, posted May 28th 2011 10:00AM
Paulo CostanzoEach summer, the rich (and their trophy wives) flock to the Hamptons in Long Island, N.Y., to escape the city heat in favor of private boats and garden parties. This playground away from the city sets the scene for 'Royal Pains,' a quirky comedy offering from the USA network, which begins its third season on June 29.

Mark Feuerstein stars as Hank Lawson, a level-headed young doctor who is wrongfully accused of a patient's death and forced to work as a medical hired gun for the wealthy residents of the Hamptons. Paulo Costanzo, in contrast, plays his womanizing, freewheeling younger brother, Evan, whose exploits result in little more than headaches for Hank.

AOL TV sister site PopEater caught up with Costanzo, a native Canuck-turned-New Yorker who many will remember from his hilarious turn as a thinking man's stoner in the 2000 comedy 'Road Trip.' And he proved that he can be a royal pain in real life -- albeit good naturedly -- when he spoke about the "wonderland" that is 'Royal Pains,' his past life as an alien and not talking about 'Road Trip.'
