Donnie Wahlberg returns to television

Donnie Wahlberg is back on television after the abrupt cancellation of his short-lived show, Runaway, last fall. Wahlberg and his former Boomtown co-star, Jason Gedric, are starring in an original movie on A&E called Kings of South Beach. Gedric plays Chris Troiano, founder of South Beach's most famous night clubs frequented by celebrities. But trouble begins when Chris and his new buddy, Andy Burnett (Wahlberg), open a new nightclub together. Both man have seedy pasts that catch up with them, getting them in trouble with money and mobsters.Kings of South Beach airs Monday, March 12 at 9 pm on A&E.
The CW cancels Runaway

I've got bad news for fans of the CW show Runaway: It's done. Gone. Dunzo. After one week in its new Sunday night "death slot", the new network has decided to pull the show permanently. The drama, starring Donnie Wahlberg, revolved around a family that's on the run after its father is accused of murder. It averaged only 1.8 million viewers during that Sunday airing.Of course, the CW knew that when it swapped its Sunday and Monday lineups, the shows that landed on Sunday would be in trouble, so I'm wondering why they were surprised by Runaway's poor showing. Oh, well. Is the reconstituted 7th Heaven going to be next?

The CW swaps Sunday, Monday lineups

In a move that's a bit of a head scratcher, The CW has decided to flip-flop its Sunday and Monday night schedules. That means the oddly paired 7th Heaven and Runaway will be on Sundays, while Everybody Hates Chris, All of Us, Girlfriends and The Game will move to Monday nights. The switcharoo puts The CW's comedy block up against CBS' Monday night comedy block, which includes How I Met Your Mother and The New Adventures of Old Christine. The schedule change begins Monday, Oct. 9 for the comedies and Sunday, Oct. 15th for the dramas.Monday ratings: Bachelor up, Studio 60 down, Heroes up and down

First off, can someone explain to me how a shitty reality show like The Bachelor and a formulaic CSI spinoff both beat a show like Studio 60? Really, I'm asking.OK, now that I've said, the ratings. CBS won the all important 18-49 demo on the strength of CSI: Miami, which actually grew in numbers as the 10pm hour progressed. Deal or No Deal and Prison Break tied for first at 8. Heroes was first at 9pm, and even though it was down 10% from last week's premiere, the number of viewers actually increased in its second half hour. The Bachelor's numbers were up 30% from last season's debut. As for Studio 60, it was down 17% from last week. The CW barely registered with Runaway.

At 8, FOX has a new House, followed by a new Standoff. - ABC has a new 90 minute Dancing With The Stars at 8, followed by the series premiere of Help Me, Help You and a new Boston Legal.
- CBS has a new NCIS at 8, followed by new eps of The Unit and Smith.
- NBC repeats the Heroes premiere at 8, followed by new episodes of Law and Order: CI and SVU.
- There's a new Gilmore Girls on The CW at 8, followed by a repeat of the Runaway debut.
- ESPN has two new episodes of The World Series of Poker at 8.
- At 9, Sci-Fi has a new Eureka, followed by a new ECW.
- Dog The Bounty Hunter and his wife speak on A&E at 9 about his arrest. It's followed by two new episodes of Inked.
- At 10, FX has a new Nip/Tuck.
The attack of the one word titles

Okay, maybe it's just me. Perhaps I wouldn't have noticed it if I weren't reporting on the television industry. However, I have, and I'm a bit disturbed about it because it could mean the beginning of the downfall of Western civilization as we know it. Yes, it's been said that everything from microwave ovens to Britney Spears would be the downfall, but I really think this is.
What am I talking about? The amount of television shows this season with one word titles, of course. What the heck do you think I was talking about? The Middle East? North Korea? Britney having another baby? Hell, no! I write about television; I don't care about any of those issues!
Seriously, maybe it began with shows like Lost, but it seems like a majority of shows this season are saving a lot on graphics with a one-word title. You doubt me? Well, you always doubt me, but I have proof to back up my theory. Jump ahead and you'll see what I mean.
Veronica, Chris to make an early debut online

The CW is jumping on this internet bandwagon thing by offering up some of its season premieres online. Veronica Mars, Everybody Hates Chris and newcomer Runaway will be available on MSN.com for one week before they premiere on the network. Online (and commercial-free) premiere dates are: Runaway on Sept. 18, Everybody Hates Chris on Sept. 24, and Veronica Mars on Sept. 26.Runaway, by the way, is an hour-long drama about an all-American family that moves to Iowa because they're on the run from the law. The father of the family (Donnie Wahlberg) was convicted of a crime he didn't commit and the family is trying to track down the real killer. It was created by Sex and the City creator, Darren Star. Darren Star just sold a new pilot to The
CW, the new network that replaces The WB and UPN. The drama is called Runaway, about a family that makes
the decision to go on the run when the father is accused of murder, in hopes of trying to prove his innocence.
Runaway began at UPN, and is the first drama pilot that The CW has picked up. No word yet on casting, but that
