New TV on DVD Releases This Week
Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow. It's not many weeks where there is a DVD set released that I'll definitely buy (most weeks I'm lucky enough to avoid spending money on DVDs), but this is one of those weeks. 'Mad Men' is one of those shows that I'll buy the DVD for no question. In fact, when they release the inevitable 'Complete Series' in a few years (two years? five? seven?), I'm going to buy that, too, even if I'm already buying the individual season sets.
I can't say I'm too interested in season 10 of '7th Heaven' though.
- '7th Heaven' - Season 10
- 'Father Knows Best' - Season 4
- 'Flashpoint' - Season 2, Vol. 1 (Canada)
Will Julianne Moore Return to 'As the World Turns'?
Once upon a time, long before 'Boogie Nights' and 'Far From Heaven' and '30 Rock' and a zillion other projects, Julianne Moore was a soap opera sensation. She was riveting in 1988 when she won a Daytime Emmy for playing Frannie Hughes and her look-alike sister, whom she had never known growing up, Sabrina Fullerton, on 'As the World Turns.' With the end of the soap coming in September 2010, reportedly CBS has asked Julianne Moore to make a brief return to 'As the World Turns' ... for old time's sake.
New TV on DVD releases this week
Here are the new TV DVDs, in stores tomorrow.I didn't even realize that there was a newer version of Jonny Quest. Or maybe I did and put it out of my mind because I never saw it and didn't want it to interfere with my childhood memories of the original. The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest aired in the mid-90s and was voiced by such people as Robert Patrick, John DeLancie, and George Segal. Both DeLancie and Segal did the voice of Benton Quest in different episodes.

Saturday Morning: Filmation (Part 2) -- VIDEOS
If the 1960s was a decade of birth for Filmation, the 1970s was a time where it skipped childhood and moved straight into the role of responsible adult. With somewhere in the area of 30 programs airing during that decade, the team of Lou Scheimer, Hal Sutherland and Norm Prescott became big players on Saturday mornings. Not only that, but the trio helped usher in a number of genres that would become staples for both their own productions and those of the other studios as well.
If that weren't enough, the 1970s saw Filmation dabble into something that had come and gone on the Saturday morning schedule since the 1960s: live-action series. Combining comedy, drama and special effects, the studio produced an number of shows that provided a lot less cheese than the live-action series of, say, Sid & Marty Kroftt.
