'Eureka' (Fri., 9PM ET on Syfy) is a science fiction show set in the Northwest Pacific town of, well, Eureka. According to the premise of the show, ever since World War II, the U.S. government has been moving the world's geniuses to this town. Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) is a "normal" outsider in this town of brainaics.

But if that premise wasn't already quirky enough for you, the creators of 'Eureka' have once again thrown time travel into the mix. Jack, Allison (Salli Richardson-Whitfield), and their other friends are hurled back into the year 1947, where they learn some surprising secrets about the founding of their town.

Of course, as all time-travelers know, you can't mess around with the past ... otherwise you might end up altering the present. "Our presence here could change the course of future events -- we have to keep a low profile." Allison says to Jack.

" ... Okay," Jack replies. Then, things around them explode in a series of fireballs. Hmm. Doesn't exactly seem like everyone is keeping a low profile.

(S03E05) This week in Eureka wasn't quite what I expected. After the dramatics from "I Do Over" I assumed most of that would be swept to the side and we would be treated to one of the more comedic episodes. The fact that the episode was based on a mummy, and that goofy title, kind of hinted at that as well. It wasn't all yuks and Egyptian mysticism though. Weaved in with that weekly story we had the fallout from those major events from last week.

As I've learned from the comments on this blog and elsewhere, fans of the Sci-Fi Channel's Eureka are incredibly devoted and loyal. So this good news is for them.

The cable network has given the thumbs up for a third season of the sci-fi comedy, according to a press release that came into TVS HQ. They've ordered 13 more episodes of the show. The third season will start filming in Vancover in early 2008 and will debut next summer.

Aaaand we're back with part two of the Eureka panel discussion at the Sci Fi Digital Press tour in Vancouver. I've got to say that I'm very glad we got the DVDs of these panels, not only so I can share them with you but because I can check them out again myself. In some respects you can kind of take these things for granted, then I step back and realize that these guys came out and took time to sit down and talk to us, the fans. Eureka! Ahem... Wahoo! I got the Eureka panel interview DVD working, and was able to get the first part embedded for you below. I was definitely impressed by the energy and commitment of the cast and crew for this show, and Neil Grayston was awesome enough to have taken the time to show us around the "smart house" set and even give us a demonstration of his SARAH voice (you'd have to know the show to know what I mean).
