Vanessa Williams Bashes 'The Blind Side' on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Mar 8th 2010 1:30PM
'The Blind Side' may have earned several Academy Award nominations and a Best Actress win for Sandra Bullock last night, but Vanessa Williams is clearly no fan of the movie. Williams said on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated) that the film, which depicts a homeless African-American youngster who is adopted by an affluent white family, does little to improve race relations.

Williams argued that film only reinforces the notion that African-Americans need whites in order to succeed. "Here's another white family that has saved the day," she said, calling the film "another black story" in which "a white person comes in and lifts them up."

Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep Kiss, Letterman Wants Answers (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 9th 2010 6:26AM
David Letterman: Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep KissIt's one thing for actresses to peck each other on the lips in friendly greeting, another thing entirely when one lunges at the other with an open mouth. That's what happened with Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep, and David Letterman had the photos to prove it on 'Late Show with David Letterman' (weeknights, 11:35PM on CBS).

"I guess that's the kind of thing you people do out in Hollywood," said Letterman. Ever quick on her feet, Bullock shot back, "And I suppose you've never kissed a woman before, Dave, right?"

Betty White Wins SAG Lifetime Achievement Award (VIDEO)

Highlights from last night's 16th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards included wins for 'Inglorious Basterds,' 'Glee,' 'Mad Men,' Julianna Margulies, Michael C. Hall, Mo'Nique and others, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award for the always-entertaining Betty White.

Sandra Bullock, who picked up a leading actor trophy for her performance in 'The Blind Side,' presented the award to White and took an affectionate dig at the 88-year-old actress. "I know that a lot of people really find Betty White inspiring," Bullock said. "Me, I find Betty White annoying. I'm sorry. It's true."

Betty White Talks About 'Golden Girls' and SAG Lifetime Achievement Award

by Leonard Jacobs, posted Jan 20th 2010 3:00PM
Veterans of early TV are scarce these days, most being retired or, well, really retired. But after 61 years in the business, the legendary Betty White is enjoying her third or fourth career resurgence -- and told AOL TV she's thrilled to be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from Sandra Bullock at the SAG Awards on Jan. 23.

After doing radio and summer stock back in the 1940s, White's big break came as the "telephone girl" on a live, local Los Angeles show, 'Hollywood on Television,' hosted by popular DJ Al Jarvis. With all honors to Lucille Ball and 'I Love Lucy,' that gig led to the creation of one of the first female-driven sitcoms, 'Life with Elizabeth.' The TV skies were the limit from there.

George Lopez Drops Tiger Woods, Sandra Bullock Jokes During People's Choice Awards (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Jan 7th 2010 12:15PM
George Lopez couldn't resist taking a potshot at Tiger Woods as he read the nominees for Favorite Movie Actress at the 36th Annual People's Choice Awards yesterday. He also took a well-deserved jab at friend and winner, Sandra Bullock, for her role in the abysmal 'Speed 2: Cruise Control.'

Bullock, who bested Jennifer Aniston, Anne Hathaway, Kristen Stewart and Drew Barrymore for the award, responded with a Woods joke of her own during her acceptance speech, then pointed out the eerie similarities between her hairdo and Nicole Kidman's.

Johnny Depp, Sandra Bullock Top 2010 People's Choice Awards Winners

by AOL TV Staff, posted Jan 7th 2010 2:16AM
Sandra Bullock, People's Choice Awards 2010It was a low-key night for the 2010 People's Choice Awards, the 36th annual gala celebrating fan favorites in movies, TV and music. Nothing particularly amazing or outlandish happened, and most of the stars donned conventional gowns, including host Queen Latifah, who looks fabulous these days. She started the show off with a musical medley, including Susan Boyle's hit 'I Dreamed a Dream,' then launched into the presentations.

We didn't see all of the awards being presented, including Favorite Talk Show Host, won by Ellen DeGeneres. But, of course, she had a few words to say about it. "Oprah, I love you, and I'm sorry your show got canceled." Then she added something about winning eleven times, "one for each of Sandra Bullock's toes." Maybe that was a private joke between the two?

20/20's real story of The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock included

by Allison Waldman, posted Dec 23rd 2009 9:02AM
the_blind_side_sandra_bullockUnless you've been living in a cave or don't keep up with what's playing at the local multiplex, you probably know that one of the biggest hits of the fall was the Sandra Bullock football movie The Blind Side.

No, that's not a typo. It is a Sandra Bullock football movie, but unlike Goldie Hawn's football movie -- Wildcats -- Sandra's movie was very good. It's so good that Sandra's probably going to get her first Oscar nomination and -- depending on the competition -- she could win.

Well, ABC has noticed that The Blind Side has struck a real chord with people. 20/20 will take advantage of the interest in the true story on which the movie is based to present the true story of The Blind Side.

They're calling the special edition of 20/20, "The Blind Side: The Real Story Behind the Movie." That was in case you thought you were going to tune in and see the movie.
