Fox Orders Pilots From 'Heroes' and 'Veronica Mars' Creators, 'Alex Mack' Star Joins 'Hawaii Five-0' and More

by Chris Harnick, posted Jan 19th 2011 11:30AM
Fox'Veronica Mars' and 'Party Down' creator Rob Thomas could be back on TV with his new pilot order from Fox for a single-camera comedy called 'Little in Common.' Suddenly, everything feels right in the world.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the show follows three families who are united thanks to little league sports. Thomas also sold 'Temp,' a workplace comedy, to NBC.

Now the question we're all thinking: Which 'Veronica Mars' and 'Party Down' stars will get cast in these pilots?

Also at Fox, the network has ordered 'Touch' from Tim Kring, creator of 'Heroes.' The drama pilot follows a father and his autistic and mute son. The son can predict events before they happen.

In other TV news ...

Larisa Oleynik has joined the cast of 'Hawaii Five-0.' Oleynik, fondly remembered from her days on Nickelodeon's 'The Secret World of Alex Mack,' will play ex-CIA analyst Jessica Kaye. The character, a Harvard graduate, will be recurring for the rest of the season with an option to become a series regular in season 2. [TVLine]

Tricia Helfer will guest on 'No Ordinary Family.' The 'Battlestar Galactica' vixen will appear in at least one episode. No word on what powers -- if any -- she'll have. [TVLine]

There will be no Guns N' Roses episode of 'Glee.' Slash said the band has been approached by the show, but turned the producers down. [Entertainment Weekly]

Santiago Cabrera: In the Limelight

by Isabelle Carreau, posted Apr 23rd 2007 4:02PM
Santiago CabreraBetter known nowadays as Isaac Mendez, an artist who can paint the future, on NBC's hit series Heroes, 28-year-old Santiago Cabrera hasn't been in the business for long.

Cabrera actually shares similarities with actor Andrew Shue who, like Cabrera, wanted to be a soccer star first but ended up becoming an actor. Cabrera even played soccer for three years on a scholarship and played semi-pro in London before changing career paths.

The son of a Chilean diplomat, the Venezuela-born actor grew up all over the world. He stayed in Chile, London, Madrid, Romania, and Toronto. This allowed the actor to learn many languages such as Spanish, English, French and Italian.

by Anna Johns, posted Apr 5th 2007 4:24PM
heroesThe long break for Heroes is nearly over, and to get people excited, NBC has released two video clips. This one is simply a scene between Mr. Bennett and Thompson as Thompson tries new tactics to find out where Claire is. This other scene reveals a new hero, so if you don't like spoilers, don't watch it!

And if you're new to this whole Heroes thing or just have a lot of time on your hands, you can watch the first 18 episodes of Heroes online for free. NBC is streaming the entire season so far with "limited interruption" from various sponsors.

Heroes returns April 23rd.

NBC picks up Heroes for entire season

by Anna Johns, posted Oct 6th 2006 10:11AM
heroesWhile NBC is apparently giving up on Kidnapped, it has given a full season commitment to Heroes. The sci fi drama has averaged about 13.5 million viewers in its first two episodes, while poor Kidnapped only had about 7 million per episode. Critics are calling Heroes the "break out" hit of the fall, but I think that title is reserved for Ugly Betty. Heroes will now get a full, 22-episode season.
