Sarah Palin, Real American StoriesSarah Palin's new show, 'Real American Stories' (Thu., 10PM ET on FNC), premiered last night, showcasing some of the everyday heroes who live in our midst.

Whether you love Palin or hate her, it's always a good thing to shine a light on the people who put themselves in harm's way to help someone else -- like one nursing student who doused the flames on a driver who'd been in an accident.

Maher Says Tea Baggers Got Health Care Reform Passed (VIDEO)

by Chris Harnick, posted Apr 1st 2010 10:25AM
Bill Maher Tonight Show with Jay LenoBill Maher stopped by 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno' (weeknights at 11:35PM ET on NBC) and discussed the current political hot topic: health care reform.

Maher gave credit to the Tea Party political movement for helping get the bill passed. Wait, what?

"I have to say, I thank the Tea Baggers ... they're the ones who got it passed." The reason? Maher said they dressed up in costumes, put tea bags on their hats and carried doctored photos of President Obama. "America saw that and said 'What loons, we're going with the calm black man.'"

Fox News Airing Sarah Palin Special on April 1

by Brad Trechak, posted Mar 31st 2010 8:04AM
Sarah PalinHaving Sarah Palin on Fox News is a bit of a no-brainer, particularly since they appeal to the same demographic. Rupert Murdoch takes full advantage of this fact when she appears as a contributor and will do so again this coming Thursday when the former Governor hosts 'Real American Stories.'

The show will be your basic celebrity interview show in which successful Americans reveal the history and secrets of their success. Guests will include Toby Keith, LL Cool J and former GE CEO Jack Welch. Hopefully they'll be on the same show and they'll be fighting each other in a ring.

Honestly, Sarah Palin is so busy nowadays. She's got her book. She's got her new reality show on TLC. Pretty soon she'll be getting her own sitcom on NBC Thursday nights. Hmmmm.

Whatever you do, don't read too much into the fact that the show begins on April Fool's Day. No, stop reading into that. Stop that right now. That's not appreciated.

Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck Finally Agree on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Mar 25th 2010 2:00PM
As hard as it may be to believe, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck finally agreed upon something today on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated). Is this an apocalyptic sign, or just a case of reason winning out? You be the judge.

Behar criticized Sarah Palin for a map on her Facebook page that uses gun sights to depict the districts of 20 Democrats who voted for President Obama's health care bill. Oddly, Hasselbeck agreed with Behar's criticism, calling the image "purely despicable." Behar was so impressed with Hasselbeck's stance that she even shook her hand.

It's Official: Sarah Palin's Going to TLC

by Allison Waldman, posted Mar 25th 2010 11:10AM
sarah_palin_outdoorsWell, the deal is done. Sarah Palin's next line on her resume, the one after Vice Presidential candidate and Governor of the State of Alaska, will be television host. The former politico has teamed with reality TV producer Mark Burnett and they've sold a travel show. Discovery's TLC will air 'Sarah Palin's Alaska,' a show about the state and why it's such a great place to live and/or visit. Sarah Palin will be the tour guide and 'proud daughter' of the territory, showing off the mountains, lakes, streams and vistas of the 49th state.

As Joel pointed out the other day, this new show is a good move for Palin as well as Discovery. The numbers she'll need to pull for TLC are in the low millions, so that should be do-able considering her appeal to a large segment of the public. Especially that segment that likes her without taking an interest in her political opinions. This show will have no politics. It's going to be like a movie from the Alaska Convention and Visitor's Bureau. You know, "Come to Alaska, experience the wild life and feel the chill." (Hmm ... maybe I should trademark that?)

Four Reasons Why Sarah Palin and Discovery Are a Good Fit

by Joel Keller, posted Mar 24th 2010 3:06PM
Sarah Palin at book signing for Yesterday, we found out from James Hibberd at THR's Live Feed that Discovery Communications has won the bidding to air an Alaskan travelogue program hosted by former governor Sarah Palin, and today, it was revealed that it will officially air on TLC. 'Sarah Palin's Alaska,' which will be produced by Mark Burnett, is going to be a pricey proposition for Discovery; Gov. Palin was asking for $1.2 million per episode, according to Hibberd.

But it's going to be worth it. Whatever you may think of her politics, Palin is a network programmer's dream. In fact, Palin and Discovery seem to be a pretty good pairing, for a number of reasons:

1. Palin is charming and has a good screen presence. The big reason why she was so popular during the 2008 presidential campaign was that she connected with a lot of people who were outside the usual Republican base: mothers, parents of kids with special needs, and others. She was folksy and chatty, and she was able to connect with her audiences despite whatever flaws she had in the policy knowledge department.

White also put her previous comment that Sarah Palin is "a crazy bitch" in context. It was on 'The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson,' and they were doing a sketch in which she called Palin the B-word. Ok, we'll go with that, Betty.

Are You Ready for the Sarah Palin in Alaska Reality Show?

by Brad Trechak, posted Mar 4th 2010 10:23AM
Sarah PalinShe's already done stand-up comedy during 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,' but now it looks like Sarah Palin is teaming with über-reality producer Mark Burnett to bring you a series about Alaska. No network is involved with the series yet, but Fox News would be a good place to start.

Seriously, when one does a "reality television show" about a state, it's usually called a documentary or a tourism video. If that's the purpose, then this is a good idea. Sarah Palin could host a documentary about Alaska. She'll likely be on script, so there are no dangers of fielding questions from reporters and given her fame, it would likely be a boon to the state in terms of tourism. They would want to see the sort of place that would produce someone like her.

However, this show will more likely focus on the ex-Governor herself as well as her family and their experiences within the state. It is interesting how she wants the media to leave her family alone but has no problems parading them in front of the camera for her own ends.

'Family Guy' Actress With Down Syndrome Diffuses Sarah Palin's Latest TV Outrage

by Danny Gallagher, posted Feb 23rd 2010 10:00AM
Family Guy, Down Syndrome, Sarah PalinSarah Palin, a media gadfly who seems to have found more things to be offended about on television than the Parents Television Council, seems to pop up every time there is a joke about her and her family.

This time, Ellen, a character with Down syndrome voiced by actress Andrea Fay Friedman who also has Down syndrome, goes on a date with Chris and says that her mother is "the former Governor of Alaska." This sent the Palin family into an anger spiral that prompted her to trash the show and characterize it as an attack on her young son Trig, who also has Down syndrome, and everyone suffering from mental illness.

However, what Palin and the rest of the outraged among us fail to realize is that they suffer from a far greater disability: a lack of a sense of humor.

Seth MacFarlane: 'Down Syndrome Actress Doesn't Need Sarah Palin's Pity' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 22nd 2010 12:20AM
Real Time With Bill Maher, Seth MacFarlane, Sarah PalinBlend together Seth MacFarlane, Bill O'Reilly, Sarah Palin, and a Down syndrome actress, and things are probably going to get a little touchy.

On 'Real Time With Bill Maher' (Fri., 10PM ET on HBO), MacFarlane discussed a 'Family Guy' clip depicting a character with Down syndrome talking about her parents -- an accountant and the former Governor of Alaska.

The actress who voiced the part actually has Down syndrome and released a statement. "It was basically saying Sarah Palin has no sense of humor," said MacFarlane. "What Sarah Palin, I think, was doing was coming out and saying 'I'm here to defend you,' and what Andrea the actress had said was 'I don't need you to use this piece of cartoon footage to inspire phony pity for me, because I'm very happy and very content with my life.'"

Thoughts on this? Is the 'Family Guy' clip funny or offensive? Was Palin right to try and defend the actress?
